Huh, don't see much earthquakes ever in Australia
Was asleep, after getting to sleep at 4. Didn't feel it at all.

Because we're in the middle of a tectonic plate
It'll be pretty expensive, but I reckon 10 or 20 years down the line when we look back on our lives we're not gonna regret a single thing. We're gonna go, "Fuck yeah, we've been to every fucking continent on the planet!" We're not gonna regret not going anywhere.
When are you planning on going to Antarctica?
Wouldn't be able to leave in late June, though.

The reason we have so many killer animals is because we are so geologically stable. Nature needs to make up for that.
I thought it was a truck going by, I live right on Burwood highway.
Sydney is too good for earthquakes.
NSW is too good for earthquakes that don't kill anyone.
fixed that for you
the 1989 Newcastle earthquake dominates. It killed 13 people and caused damage estimated at $1.5 billion.
I knew someone would pick up on that! When I said every continent I MEANT every continent. Even Antarctica.

My old man's been to every continent. Davis Station is like mars in the summer (when you'd fly down, probably, or spend a month on the ship), Casey has a fruit fly infestation they've been trying to get rid of for the last few years, and that's where he's getting deployed to next (after a stint at Mawson), and Mawson is supposed to be extremely windy (in comparison to the other bases!). And Macquarie Island isn't really part of Antarctica and rains every day.
If you're not going to down there with the Australian Antarctic Division (and they pay pretty reasonably, like getting paid to sit on a ship for two months [or more depending on the ice] a deployment and watch movies/play video games), try to go to the American base, McMurdo, as it's supposed to be pretty epic.

As you're doing a science degree, you'll probably be able to go down there for the summer. A whole lot of atmospheric physicists down there.
What time was the earthquake? I woke up at 7:30, so...
Never witnessed an earthquake. Kinda glad I haven't, but it would be experiencing.

It's pretty awesome, but also pretty scary.
I didn't feel the one this morning, but i did feel the two in 2009. they were just a little bit of shaking.
wasn't enough to move me on my chair but it was enough to see my desk moving left and right.
went through a larger one in auckland a few years back. that one was cool but i thought it was pretty scary too. it was a deep 5.5 or something, so not damaging but a fair amount of shaking.
It's windy as fuck.
Saw a big ass pine tree fall over in a park in my town - was cool.
Slept through the earthquake.
Luckily I was reminded on Facebook by the load of "OMG EARRRTHHHQUUAAKKKKEEE FIONJDNJIOKIDMJVIMDI" status'

Got my first gig at a pub tomorrow night. If anyone's in North Fitzroy, Melbourne, head to the Empress on Nicholson st. at 7.30pm!
God damn it I hate living in such a shitty town. I'd like to go Mlisen.

It's at a pub so I won't be able to get in. Otherwise I'd try and go.

Doggunn speaks the truth, I never get carded in Pubs

Many do, this one doesn't. Places like the Peacock in Northcote have bouncers who come inside early in the night and ask everyone to show ID or leave.
what mods get money now?

After about 6PM you'll get carded entering P.J. O'Briens too. No proof of age, no entry.
