victoria is the home of everything good in australia
Except for places like Footscray.
But that's the what makes Vic great. We segregate the scum into 'concentration suburbs' and slowly eradicate them.
A beautiful, final solution to bogan scum.
victoria is alright

Australia Thread V4: Questionable Quality Edition.

Yeah, our big, gay white bridge is better.
I live in Victoria and I think it's shit

I just found out that that the government can kick people out of their homes to make new rail way lines if they want to, even if the person owns the land
I'm pretty late on finding that out but it sure did make me hate the government more
reminds me of The Castle
That movie's funny.

Do you mean in Victoria, or in Australia in general? I know that recently the emphasis has been on Victoria in the media.
It's one of our five Constitutional rights to receive just compensation if the state takes our homes, but, yes, people do get fucked over. If you're one of a minority of people who are stopping the construction of a train station, you can be damned sure you'll be forcibly removed.
But... that's hardly restricted to Australia.
fuck when did this thread suddenly become popular again

They may have the legal power but they sure as hell aren't going to be doing it any time soon. If they did they would've just made a straight train line between major cities rather than the stupid tilting shit that barely even helped.
i know people that lived near the airport, got evicted in place of a new freeway
they were compensated, but their land was valued after the freeway was built. they got 10 grand for their house AND land. they got royally fucked with no chance of legal recourse
mr apple has just realised how much power the govt. has but doesn't exclusively use
I live in Victoria and I think it's shit
derrrrrrrrrrrrppppppp
they need this right. it's one given to the commonwealth under our constitution and one given to victoria through passage of legislation.
imagine if everyone was allowed to say no they don't want to sell to the government for critical infrastructure projects. it'd be a mess.
go to western australia. they've got a great government. totally moving fowards.

They have to be allowed to do it but there's obviously going to be outcry whenever they do. They accept that and only use such a power when the consequences of not using it outweight the problems arising when they do. It's like the governor general's powers, they don't use them but they need to have them in case there are extraordinary circumstances.

Arguably it will make the polluters look into lower emission technologies so they can maintain their ~supaprofits~
