Ooh, Meshuggah is playing?
Ooh, Meshuggah is playing?
Yeah. It's got a quality lineup so far. By which I mean, the good bands make up for all the shit stuff that's going.

Aries said that you and him want to stay at my place, I just need to work stuff out but I think it would be alright.

I'm ok with this if it's fine with your folks.
All I need is food.
It should be fine, I already told Aries the best option I could do.
get a room you guys
Went to Minotaur for the first time today. No wonder us nerds have a bad name, it's as if half of the people in that store hadn't had a shower in a week! I mean, Jesus, I feel all grotty if I don't have a shower in like 24 hours. I guess I sometimes forget that I'm a more 'normal', socially adept nerd, though. I guess most of the people in there aren't.
Was pretty surprised that they have porn (sorry, 'erotica') sitting right in the middle of the store. They don't even make any effort to hide it; it's just there.

Really? I used to go to Minotaur every now and then; I didn't find that it attracted anyone particularly unhygienic.
Don't go to Minotaur, though. Their stuff is ridiculously overpriced (like almost all niche stores in Australia). Buy shit off the internet instead.
Sydney Big Day Out anyone?

There was an unholy stench emanating from that place, but to be fair it was pretty freaking hot in there - even I was sweating (albeit it very slightly) inside of a few minutes. Luckily I don't particularly smell when I sweat (at least not unless I've been sweating for a prolonged period of time), though.
And yeah, it seemed pretty expensive but on the upside it gives me ideas of what to look for on the internet (whereas before hand I'd have to think about it directly, or stumble across it by sheer luck). Also, if I want something ASAP and can't wait for it to be shipped (that, or shipping will make it cost more) I can get it there.
I cannot imagine a situation when shipping costs outweigh the huge markup

Well some of the stuff (like a few of the books) seemed reasonably priced. I dunno if you'd save that much by purchasing them online.

I haven't been there for a few years, to be fair.
No, I hear what you're saying. Just don't get sucked in and purchase it all there because it's pretty, but it's good to go to to see stuff. You know that Blasphemy shop just down the road from there? I used to go to places like that for band shirts, and they're like $70 or something. That's bullshit. I just bought an Arch Enemy and an Iron Maiden shirt for $10 off the internet. Minotaur's like that. All niche places in Australia are ridiculously overpriced.

Depends on the kind of deal you get, but you're right. Books are relatively heavy to ship, so...
Buy comics off the internet, though.
Yeah, I rarely buy Australian. Amazon (com or co.uk; either is good) are great sources for cheap, well, anything really. Well, usually at least. Unfortunately .co.uk won't ship games abroad (which is a bunch of bull), and .com... well, American games are NTSC and my xbox was purchased here so it's region encoded to play PAL games I believe.
Most other stuff they'll ship though which is pretty cool.
lol Angrychair what are you doing
Bit of a long shot, but fuck it.
If I ordered something from the states, how long could I roughly expect the shipping times to be?

Depends what service they send it through

USPS. Don't know anything more than that.

I used to go to Minotaur,
then I turned 14.
Minotaur's just overpriced, and I don't see anything I would actually buy there.

Just did my formal shopping, got a black shirt, black pants, white tie and white suspenders. Aww yeah.
what's minotaur?
what's minotaur?
Basically a huge shop for nerds in Elizabeth Street. Filled with comic books (DC, Marvel, DarkHorse, all of the big players), anime, porn, Star Wars stuff, Star Trek stuff, Doctor Who stuff, etc.
It's also got a huge wall of Sci-Fi/Fantasy stuff. They had a good selection of sci-fi books, actually. Thought about buying some Asimov or Clarke stuff.

Your formal is so much later than ours was, we finished all of that like ~3 weeks ago. What state are you in?
