Can you explain why you agree with what Max Brenner does?
I think you mean Myanmar, but I presume the old government were corrupt as shit too.
I don't really mean anything - I just thought of some random country.
You seem to have a huge hard-on either for private enterprise or israel, I'm trying to figure out which it is.
I just don't like protests that impact people entering or leaving businesses or buildings - and it seems to be that any protest Students for Palestine get involved in, they do that stupid type of shit.
I thought you were referring to the ability of citizens to protest and revolt as part of their social contract and citizenship. Not what the state deigns to legislatively provide them.
Yep. Given that we have relatively unrestricted free speech, protesting is a significant way someone can exercise their citizenship.
I don't see how the fact that we only have five entrenched rights that don't encompass protesting in matters this context.
I just don't like protests that impact people entering or leaving businesses or buildings - and it seems to be that any protest Students for Palestine get involved in, they do that stupid type of shit.
Is there a big extreme-left union presence on campus in Monash?
Being at Melbourne Uni means our view is probably distorted, I've never seen that happen before, and don't think there are too many over here.
It's also against the point that they might have done something illegal at some point. Yeah, they're scum, but they still have a right to protest. If they're blockading the business, though, then that's out of line for sure.
What's against the point? Regardless, they shouldn't have the privilege to protest if they keep abusing it, which they are.
Just because you disagree with them doesn't make them uneducated.
It does if they have no idea what they're protesting about.
Is there a big extreme-left union presence on campus in Monash?
There is, but from what my mates at Melbourne have told me, it's much larger there.

But not all of them are from Students for Palestine, and they still have a valid point regardless (as I said previously, if they're stopping people from entering or leaving, then they can gtfo). But just because they're shitty human beings doesn't mean that their point is worthless too. You wouldn't (or shouldn't) disagree with the message of Occupy Wall Street just because some of the protesters are assholes who use the protest as a way of being ~totez radical~.

Or... they should be rightfully arrested, but not have that right taken away altogether.
It does if they have no idea what they're protesting about.
You haven't given any evidence for your repeated assertion that they're uneducated and don't know what they're talking about.

I agree with you for the most part - for instance they were protesting yesterday outside the State Library, which is a change from what they've recently been doing. But they've lost so much respect in my books because of their previous choice to protest in the methods they have that it really does detract from their point.
It's like if Tony Rabbit finally decided to come out in favour of the Carbon Tax - could you really take him seriously after his long campaign against it?
It isn't so much that we disagree with that they're saying or that we disagree with their right to protest, it's more that what they're protesting is fucking stupid. It's kinda like the occupy Wall Street copycat protests in Australia that have none of the issues the original are protesting about and just do it because they want a cause to protest about or just aren't happy with what they have even if it is pretty good.
If they were picketing a place because they used child slave labour, that might be an issue. If they're picketing them because they're loosely associated with a foreign issue that they oppose, then they're just retarded. Go protest outside K-mart for making use of cheap Chinese goods that support the Tibetan oppression.

I feel like we're arguing the same thing, just in different ways.
Anyhow, let's just agree that the Socialist people are generally shitbags and leave it there.
