Huh. This is an interesting twist. I guess now's the time to break out the popcorn. This gun be good.
Jesus Christ, That was a fantastic half hour reading all of this. I saw that griefing on the 2b2t thread since it popped up on the front page, didn't even expect it being anything other then some douche having fun. It's fun getting up to date, especially when garry it's completely levelheaded and the Amber is losing her head over mods posting e-mail addresses publicly known.
Game journalists that posted shit got called out over and over, some of them were women, decided that woman-hater would be a good label for the entire group, got together, shared the story and pushed it as hard as they could.
And who, exactly, are the two people who were banned for trolling the Minecraft server, and are now billing being banned for that as an attack against women and personal harassment? Where do they fit into this drama? Are they just a couple of random folks who felt like stirring the pot, or are they somehow involved in the core group of people accused of manufacturing this feminism debate?

Amber Coal, formerly known as Grace Lynn, formerly known as Devi Ever, who had that shit storm in SH a while ago about a failed Kickstarter for a guitar pedal project called "The Console" which people took as a failed console project because they're bad at reading. Somehow involved with anti-GG despite not being a developer or person in the gaming press.
these latest pages provided me way too much entertainment at work; let us welcome these beautiful new posters to this forum of punched faces
Are they just a couple of random folks who felt like stirring the pot
This She's done this countless times, trying to stir up shit for attention, garry's just her latest target

Practically anyone can claim harassment and the journalists will point the spotlight to that to divert attention from their own corruption.
She was a developer, she billed herself as a video game dev at any rate.
She still considers herself a game designer from her website.
She tried attaching herself to the gamergate hashtag but due to her basically requirement for attention (by the way, she might have intentionally put her business email,) she went and inadvertly attacked major opposition figures and was cast into obscurity, only to surface again now. She is a known scammer and has been trying far too hard to farm sympathy money for ages now. She's as extreme as it get's and the definition of a bad "professional victim."
She was a developer, she billed herself as a video game dev at any rate.

She still considers herself a game designer from her website.
I don't know why. She used to make guitar pedals before and afaik she has never worked on a E: commercially available game, just make pixel art.

Because if that's the case, why do we care at all? Let her moan and groan if she wants to. If she wants to pretend that getting banned from a forum for trolling some Minecraft thing is an attack on her gender, and not just booting out somebody who's being toxic, then there's not too dang much we can do about that. Garry has already told her that if she can provide proof of harassment, that he'll take action on it. And if any of you schmucks actually take this half-assed bait then you'd have it coming. It's fine to laugh about somebody making a dork of themselves here, but it should go without saying that there's nothing to be gained by taking it to a more personal venue, right? If you're spamming her Twitter or whatever (which I'm not saying anybody is. I don't even have a Twitter), then that ain't okay by our forum rules. That's considered raiding, and it's just being as petty and childish as she is. That's really all I gotta say on the subject! She can flail about and cry shenanigans until her cheeks turn red-- just have the common sense not to give her anything to throw. Just in case that wasn't self-evident to everybody here already.
I still don't understand how or why a discussion of bribery and corruption in gaming journalism turned into something that is being primarily billed as a feminist issue? I haven't taken much interest in the whole thing, so I must have missed where, exactly, that leap took place. Even NPR reported on this as being a feminist issue, and they have never, to my knowledge, intentionally misrepresented a story. So, this confusion obviously runs pretty deep.
People who weren't part of the issue wanted attention, which is why it someone became a feminist issue.
So, basically, she's just some random person who felt like trolling for some controversy? Because if that's the case, why do we care at all?
Because it's the funniest thing we got today? It's an only honest answer I can think off.

Unfortunately she's scammed hundreds of thousands of dollars off of people and that sucks - she's worth a few pages but definitely not a major topic, we basically said everything there is to say about her. Anybody going as far to message/spam her twitter or whatever is dumb, your right. I condemn it and I am sure everybody else in this thread will agree.
Well shoot, I wouldn't mind a couple hundred thousand bucks to throw around. How about you quit fuckin' harassing me, huh? Next person who says I'm a bad mod owes me, like, fifty grand. [editline]19th February 2015[/editline]
the sentiment is appreciated but I haven't met anyone on this specific thread that has spammed someone's twitter, maybe elsewhere but I think this thread is too small and has too much infighting for us to care beyond laughing at her on this thread. Any spamming would surely be an accident above all else, not a malicious attempt to spam an individual by organizing the entire thread against her. I'm not entirely sure it even needs to be said, so you don't have much to worry about.
I figured as much! Just gotta be thorough, you know? Mod bizz.
A good amount of people that post in this thread (like me) support GG and feminism. So I wonder how anti GG see the people in this thread. To them am I a misogynist, even though I support the idea of better representation of females in games while also supporting ethics in journalism? The misogynistic assholes and the "le drink male tears" crowd would get banned for shitposting in a millisecond if they even bothered to make an account just to post on facepunch. This might be a good opportunity for "normal" GG and anti GG to interact with each other in a neutral environment and find out all the things we have in common. This stupid MC griefing might turn into the beginning of our two groups merging.
bda smells [editline]19th February 2015[/editline] good
tbh this is one of the more moderate pro-gg threads on gamergate/corruption in games journalism there is, it slightly leans on pro-gg sometimes and falls trap to similar bait as KiA, but it's one of the nicer places to discuss this.

We're all familiar with her and giving her ammo to fuel her need for attention is not on our list of shit to do. She got herself banned, manufactured a story to create controversy, and Garry proved her wrong. There really is nothing else to do but point and laugh.
Remember kids, enjoy your hobbies.
Now if only people would stop judging me for enjoying it.
Personally I would just like to see more aGG people here, they could even have their own thread like this and discuss stuff. Meanwhile the mods can perfectly keep our and their dumbasses inline so they don't go shitposting in the other thread.
I'd be a-okay with this idea.

Meanwhile the mods can perfectly keep our and their dumbasses inline so they don't go shitposting in the other thread.
As per facepunch census opinion on gamergate, their own thread would probably be filled with people constantly arguing with them. I think they feel perfectly at home at gamerghazi, againstgamergate, neogaf and other communities. I only know 5-10 users on facepunch who are vocally against it, and those 10 people are radicals and get banned often.
If they wanted to argue here anyways they should have just attempted to argue instead of opening with an insult/sarcastic post every single fucking time. And then proceed to post on reddit about how they "owned us" after being banned.
I don't think they need a different thread though, we should all get thrown in here with pizza and a ping pong table and have the mods lock the door behind us until we work it out. This "split" in the gaming community is dumb, in no way should two groups of rational people with similar goals be so hostile towards each other. It should go back to the way it always was, gamers vs trolls.
Also arguments with them are really hard - they often "extend the goalposts" and make the topic wider and wider, or they only respond to people who has an error in their argument.
