That's an insanely great synopsis on the entire issue.

Great piece there. Too bad exactly NONE of our opposition will either read it, nor take it seriously.
Lets face it, these fuckers are making up terrorist threats to make us look bad. If they could tie us to Hitler's extermination of 6 million people, I'll bet they would. Chances are they already tried.
I just don't see any moderates giving enough of a shit to invest in this drama. I'll be delighted to be proven wrong though.
So have we agree'd that Anti-Gamergate is basically a Cult?
So have we agree'd that Anti-Gamergate is basically a Cult?
Anti-Gamergate is not a cult. Current opinion between Pro-#GG is that GamerGhazi is a cult, which is different for obvious reasons.
Game Zone admits coverage of GamerGate is incredibly one-sided and is starting to ask why.
Good article about Mercedes' video and the apparent lack of coverage of what she talks about. People are starting to ask why nobody talks about this stuff.

there are people who may or maynot goto that place are within something cult like, but I'm seeing them as parallel behaviors to muslim extremism (murder isn't one of them).

Hey guys this seems like the best place to ask this, even though I know it's not what you're necessarily discussing. Do any of you have some sources which demonstrate harassment, racism and homophobia within the industry? I'm talking actual sources, not somebody's twitter as well as the actual industry. Again, not some two-bit con artist or some relatively unknown indie studio who got hurt at a twitter post. Surveys and so forth by professionals etc.
(not related to above)
League of legends has a Spectator system where you can watch any player that plays at any time.
Someone used this to make a twitch stream showing every game of a certian esports player in the LoL area using a automated bot.
The people who run his team tried to DMCA the stream, but it was basically useless because there was no reason for a DMCA and the request was declined.
this causes a riot games co-founder to compare the replay system they implemented to watch other players to "E-Stalking":
Faker has requested that we disallow this type of re-stream and to take action. Fyi

The main issue (from my perspective) is the incessant & automated re-broadcast specifically targeting an individual.

To be clear - we're against e-stalking. If we need to change our rules over and over to close loop holes to protect our players, we will.
heres a spectator system, but don't use it because you'll be a stalker if you do. victim cards everywhere

Kuchera is actually the beta version of a US government project aimed at spreading dissent in foreign nations in the form of sensationalist antagonistic clickbait. They nailed the holier-than-thou attitude but they failed to make it self-aware due to the current limitations of AI technology.

People assume about others what they know about themselves
Well, I just found out that Brandon Morse doesn't think you should have to refer to trans people with their desired pronouns (yes, that includes just he or she ones). Kind of disappointed by that.

If your talking outside of social media it's basically non-existent or satire. The most you can find is articles on what people say in-game. Unless somebody else has an example, the only one I can ever remember is Iron Solari league from LoL, which they banned gay/trans players from their tourneys for no explained reason. Small time harassment is usually from a very very very small portion of trolls with multiple accounts is what dominates discussions. Although I don't think I know what your asking exactly...

Brandon Morse is a dick and even a lot of people on this forum disagree with him being hired to the Escapist.

I have no idea how this broke automerge.

Same here, but I never payed attention to him or followed him on twitter. As long as Lizzy doesn't turn out to be a closet pedophile or anything, then I'm still happy with The Escapist's hiring decision.
He sure is self aware isn't he...
(edit) I meant Ben Kuchera, not Brandon Morse.
Sargon's video series is delayed due to him empowering the patriarchy

No offense but if you guys left the hugbox once in a while, you'd see they have some good arguments. All you have to do is go somewhere other than GamerGhazi (which is imo the single most radical & insane one), read their arguments with the intent to empathize with them (without assuming they're misinformed/sociopathic SJWs and dismissing everything they say), and finally stop demonizing an entire movement based on what false-flagging trolls on twitter do, if that sounds a little familiar.
They're composed of as just many man-haters and cultists as we are of woman-haters and terrorists. Hiding in an echo chamber, laughing about how stupid we think they are, is making things worse. Things are only going to change with them when YOU guys, not just AGG, actually make an effort to go out there and understand where you disagree and why, beyond strawmanning like this post and many others.
A few pages ago, everyone was saying how much they'd love to talk to AGGs if they were on this thread, which sounds pretty noble, but in reality - I think you guys expect them to find Facepunch, find this thread, post "hello I am misinformed" so that they can be converted to our side. That's not how it works, that's barely an argument, let alone a discussion.
People can disagree with you for other reasons than being misinformed or being clinically insane, although I get that's hard to see when you only listen to the insane ones. If you really do care about understanding their side, you have to take the initiative and listen to their viewpoints first. If you're respectful and calm, and avoid logical fallacies, then most people will return the favor and try to understand why you think differently. I'm sure this is going to get showered in dumbs though, because see it or not, this thread is an echo chamber - it just doesn't have to always be like that.

Every time I converse with people in the calmest, most rational manner I am capable of, I am accused of sympathizing with a hate group, holding hateful opinions, actively attacking and harassing women, and am accused of sock puppeting as a bisexual male, I'm told my civility is a false front holding back seething hatred, I am told that nothing I say has any value, that statistics I bring to the conversation are irrelavent, and that secretly, the only thing I care about is Zoe Quinns sex life. These are all things i'm told by so called "reasonable" people. These are not the radicals, these are not the crazy ones, this is entire communities of people who agree with the group think. When even the most "reasonable" of the group won't let me speak for myself, I'm tempted to believe the "reasonable" edge of that group aren't reasonable at all.
[editline]22nd February 2015[/editline]
I cannot count the number of times the statistical analysis of Gamergate on twitter proving it's not based in harassment has been discounted because it's not something that fits with their preconception.

http://www.reddit.com/r/AgainstGamerGate is the best "moderate" opposition discussion you can find to help understand the other side and have discussions with them, it's a great great place to discuss without shit slinging. (Even then, that subreddit is starting to become more neutral then against GG.)
However, one flaw in your argument is that you seem to forget that the people who came to this thread as anti-gg would start with an insult, or be insulting in the first post. What I think people want to see is people going "Hey I disagree with that" (as you are doing) and not a sarcastic post where they go on the defensive rather then offensive. I also disagree with you calling us an echo-chamber - I don't think were an echo chamber - we have a fairly diverse set of opinions and are willing to listen as long as somebody provides a good source to their claims. You don't get banned for saying "No, look at my sources." They get banned for shitposting/flaming.
Another point you have is "They are composed as just as many cultists/idiots just as much as us.." HOWEVER, there IS a difference. The people who are idiots on their side are revered and listened too. (Brianna Wu, Mcintosh.) On our side, the idiots are condemned and cast away. They think Totalbiscut would be considered an "idiot" when all he has done is bring up rational points and even criticized GG multiple times.
Other then those, I slightly agree with your post but disagree on some points. I have listened very closely to other arguments (btw I forgot to post those) and I find very few that will, in the end, make this worse for the gaming industry - all I see is people getting angry and for very good reasons, whilst there's are often minor reasons not to be angry. I'm sure there's some people on this thread who don't look at other arguments - but I think a lot of us aren't either. Your post seems better fitted for KiA. I still have yet to see a compelling argument why complaining about current gaming culture is bad.
