Corruption in Gaming Journalism Discussion V2 - Back from the dead!

I can't wait for the moment it's going to cost money and/or ask for plentiful donations to keep themselves "running." Look at all that free money from sympathizers or uninformed people! - watch as the money goes 90% into nothing that actually helps prevent abuse other then provide resources, mostly composed of her autoblocker.
I'm calling it.

Well I guess I should have read the website. The fact that she was only 2 years ago was fined for fraud of excess of 35k (I'm starting to see a pattern, Zoe Quinn.. Grace Lynn..) just makes me wonder why people listen to her, like all these other people who have basically been confirmed scammers/liars/frauds and is completely overlooked by critics for some reason.

This basically confirms my theory that they will be rushed into obscurity within the next 2-3 years until the next situation pops up. There's nothing we can do but let them scam people out of their money - what it does mean is we can focus on journalism more now that they have solidified themselves behind perceived public faces.
So game journalists continue to bully game dev's that have sexy female characters, all games must be Gone Home.
That might be one of the shittest reviews I've read in general.
"It's a fighting game. There is some DLC. The story is stupid. It has some launch problems I guess. I hate boobies."

It's probably from Quinn's panel.
Guys, I'm no McIntosh fan, but you're basically using your own ignorance of critical theory to mock him. All he's saying, in his usual wordy bullshit way, is that a cultural critic cares about what a work means in the context of society, not its internal logic. If, say, Hollywood was only producing war movies, a cultural critic might say that women are under-represented in the film industry. Not because he feels there should be women storming the beaches at D-Day, but because the industry is only producing a certain kind of film that only features men, and so men are disproportionately represented. It's up to the critic to then go somewhere with this analysis, and it doesn't have to be 'this is bad and misogynistic', that's just what the extremists conclude. The point he's making is that 'but it's about D-Day, of course there are no women' is fundamentally misunderstanding the criticism, his criticism is about the industry as a whole and using individual games is to point out examples indicative of a trend, not try to hold them all accountable to unreasonable standards.
This is a pretty established kind of criticism in film, it's not all SJW nonsense, even though it's a tool they abuse. The vast majority of cultural critics are really not as insane as McIntosh and his ilk might lead you to believe, even industry stalwarts like Roger Ebert have used this lens to talk about films.
No, they didn't. Not even close. This is broad-ass semantics with a layering "I know more stuff than you, ner ner and is nothing like the criticism leveled out, especially by Ebert, Roeper and the like. This is much more akin to Rolling Stone's current review format, which basically telling you "if you disagree with my 'nuanced' review, you're an idiot and shouldn't be reading this fine and completely unbiased magazine, next up read about how all non-liberals are total assholes and eat babies when you're not looking".
Secondly immediately adopting an outside critique for every touchstone is transparently lazy.
other secondly, when's the last time joshinjosh published an actual condensed review?

Probably has to do with her attacking Wu.

Sorry that joke was horrible, the best joke is the show.
If wolfenstein or bayonetta doesn't win game of the year I will flip shit
[editline]5th March 2015[/editline]
Destiny won best technology, oh wow.
The chat makes it almost bearable to watch.
Brenda Romero won the ambassador award, and she legitimately deserves recognition for her career.
Still waiting to hear how this somehow matches anti-gg's narrative that women are persecuted and threatened with rape for being game devs. Sure, the award show is more or less run by the scumbags, but they're weakening their own argument by showing how this lady's done good shit for years. She should've been downtrodden by the system a decade ago.
Ooookay, random Mega64 interlude involving them shouting at the public, followed by a lame gamergate handpuppet joke where Tim proves he can't even do 50-2-2=48 in his head.
Destiny won best technology, oh wow.
Even as some one who likes/liked destiny that's fucking hilarious.
Like what does that even mean? They literally didn't have a working voice chat out side of friend parties until an update after release. And they STILL don't have any means of proximity voice communication in the "open" world areas. Which are literally just separate instances it randomly shuffles players into between blatant junctions which have no zoning that show other players.
Oh and the advertised "AI director?" Don't even start, it's literally the name of a mission select menu, opening a map and pressing an icon that sends you to a prescripted mission is "INVOKING THE DIRECTOR." At which point it sends you to the over world briefly so it can shuffle you into a junction and hide the fact you entered an instance.

All right, thank you for the layman translation. The way he writes makes it sound like he goes in circles.
Thanks for butchering the famous Hamlet lines, Tim. That contributed tons to the show.
Nice to see Kentucky Route Zero get an award, though.
Why did the Mega64 guys put US posters for Sakaguchi's office? This skit is two minutes too long.
Did Sakaguchi like making Final Fantasy?
Usually when I see the Mega64 videos like that, it gets me interested and gets me confused.
Did Hearthstone REALLY just win best design????
This is just beyond rediculous.....
Isn't Hearthstone buggy?
Monument Valley just beat Smash Bros 3DS?
Okay, they've now won best sound, best graphics (or best visual design something), and best handheld game. I've heard it's good, but, uhh, this seems a bit of a sweep.
They know we know it's rigged - they're just rubbing it in now.
Having great times with Crap.
