I still don't get Tim Schafer's sock puppet joke. Is the joke that since the sock puppet is an extension of him, all those hateful opinions that the puppet says are actually his own? Or is the joke that women and minorities don't exist and everyone who pretends to be one is actually just a white, fat jerk?
[vid]http://a.pomf.se/dnpglz.webm[/vid]
He's decent at doing a sockpuppet act, but the rest of the presentation is just cringeworthy beyond much what I've seen so far.
Snake, can we talk about how you come in and say all this shit, then leave and ignore everyone responding until you have something completely different to hit the thread with?
I was reading this post trying to figure out what on earth you two are actually arguing about when I noticed a little discrepancy here. Oops.
I once accidentally hit myself with a HTTPS stripper while posting here and couldn't figure out why my link didn't work :v: Do user scripts like the cloud -> butt replacer affect text fields?
I once accidentally hit myself with a HTTPS stripper while posting here and couldn't figure out why my link didn't work :v: Do user scripts like the cloud -> butt replacer affect text fields?
Yes. I once got reverted on Wikipedia because I edited an article section and it replaced "cloud" to "butt" in a completely unrelated section.
Who is Tim Schafer and why does he do shitty sock puppet jokes. Starting to realize I don't even know a fraction of all the gaming icons out there.

Except when he tries to be negative about someone it seems. Lately he got very notorious for being extremely bad with money.
anecdotal evidence is literally always terribly useless it's like "how could nixon get elected?! no 1 i know voted for him!!!" and if you can't find a problem with that logic well anyway i can't wait for snake's next shitpost, take all the time you need to fabricate your arguments (or not since they're shit and can easily be broken apart anyway so whats the point
Speakin of Tim Schafer, this was in Star Wars Episode I Racer [t]https://i.imgur.com/raKqA.jpg[/t] This was made way before Bobby Kotick was proven right that Schafer couldn't budget :v:
i wonder how an old nolonger friend of mine who breathes tim's ass air feels about all this
I just read this interesting article about the human psyche and how it deals with contradicting evidence. I thought it was relevant to GG. http://www.alternet.org/tea-party-and-right/why-do-people-believe-stupid-stuff-even-when-theyre-confronted-truth
Once something is added to your collection of beliefs, you protect it from harm. You do it instinctively and unconsciously when confronted with attitude-inconsistent information. Just as confirmation bias shields you when you actively seek information, the backfire effect defends you when the information seeks you, when it blindsides you. Coming or going, you stick to your beliefs instead of questioning them. When someone tries to correct you, tries to dilute your misconceptions, it backfires and strengthens them instead. Over time, the backfire effect helps make you less skeptical of those things which allow you to continue seeing your beliefs and attitudes as true and proper.
(emphasis mine) [editline]edit[/editline] TL;DR is that the human mind often treats opinions as facts. So in spite of there being evidence to contradict someone's opinions, that person will just find reasons to confirm their own opinions anyway and no demonstration of the actual truth will ever convince them otherwise.

It's also quite strong in GG, since this also (and probably at least as strongly) applies if the party that tries to "correct" is provably lying.

He just had a decent group of people keeping him in check.
Former dev of The Forest is Pro-GG http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1sl27r0 his portfolio if you care http://andrew.im/
Thing that pisses me off the most about Schafer's handling of Broken Age and Spacebase is that it lends ammo to the camp of cynics who don't understand game development and think crowdfunding and Early Access are scams. This is the kind of shit that prompts spurious claims about other projects. For example, there are trolls who want to spread rumors that Star Citizen's funding is being misused for expensive luxury dinners and cars for the top people on the team. Generally doesn't get far going up against backers of the game, but for less clued-in communities, it could take root a bit. The popular narrative among linkbait journalism sites (let's just call it that, it's what it is) is that it's a scam already, when in reality a game of that scope and size is just going to take four years of development and things are generally on track. Schafer may have decided to chuck his personal ethics out, but he's ruining shit for everyone.

He should've learned to manage a budget and time schedule instead.
For every game that does crowdfunding right people decide to talk about those who cut and run.
3.3mil and you'd think Schafer could afford a suit that fit him right
https://twitter.com/Bane_Alex_Uk/status/573460647704457216 Bane is mad at tim.
Makes you wonder if Tim has always been a problem, kinda like John Romero. He just had a decent group of people keeping him in check.
Schafer is a bit like Molyneux, if his team doesn't actively work to make sure he's on task their project isn't going to go anywhere any time soon. But he's such a big name that his teams seem almost scared to tell him "Hey Tim/Peter, we've got a product to ship, pls help". Admittedly with Peter it's more due to the fact he's basically an 8 year old mentally and comes up with too many things to actually implement in a reasonable time. That's a bit more manageable than spending all the money.
I wish there was a brutal molyneux-like interview but with tim.

I love how when it's us we're "Freaking out" but when it's them they're "Offended"
Love how AGG people are either brushing it under the carpet, or saying it was justified. Ah, okay, so it's okay to erase the minorities who have opinions which challenge your world view now! Cool, good to know. Let's get to repealing that Emancipation Proclamation, then.
I wish I could pay the actor who played Al Borland from tool time to say, "I don't think so Tim Shaffer", and put it on a vine. His tirades have become persistent to a point of a trope, so a meme would be interesting in this case to reply with indefinitely.

It's kind of ironic that Ghazians are indeed brushing off sexist/racist/homophobic/transphobic jokes when they indeed got offended at gamers who used PC master race in a joking way.
You know how Mark Kern has been trying to get everyone to be reasonable? Politely asking journalists to review their ethical standards? Congratulations to Tim Schafer, he just broke Mark Kern's compassion.
