This is delicious. I wonder what's in stock.
yeah that was quick and I don't have a screencap.

I'd be offended too if I had to play games using that monstrosity.

Quietly backpedaling I'd wager.
Someone should try just adding what Tim Schafer said. Don't even try and poke Ryulong by saying anything about what people thought of it- literally just insert the comment that he made. See how Ryulong justifies frantically trying to delete it.
I bet he'd mash the revert button without even a comment why (which is bad wiki etiquette even on RW) if I posted it. And would probably try and block me (sysops can be blocked by sysops but can unblock themselves--you literally see block slap fights from time to time over there) if I embedded video of it, even if the video was nothing but the raw sound bite with zero editorializing. :v:
And, hey, against all fucking odds, Wu was not only not harrassed, but had a great time surrounded by women.

Funny how all those fears of harrassment and interference from GG in witness-heavy public spaces never seem to come to pass.

A rogue Googler takes up Mark Kern's banner before PR shitstorm forecast alarms auto-nuke it. Well, this is gonna make things interesting.
Also, the hubris:
@CranBoonitz
Countdown until GamerGate claims they have Google's support based on this single tweet despite the entire industry hating them.
While it's true that it would be premature to interpret that tweet as Google, collectively or as a corporate entity, supporting Gamergate, this guy's just so deluded. Yup, the "entire industry" hates us, uh huh.
Sad part is, I never played any of Schafer's games and I know at least psychonauts gets almost universal praise everytime its mentioned. But no way in fuck am I giving this hack a cent of my money after that fucking performance.
Fuck you too Mr. Shitface.
Woah, from a Google account? Hot damn. Too bad it's probably some disgruntled employee that wanted to get up and scream, probably after the Tim incident.

I love how aGG is so blinded by the hashtag that they haven't realized what kind of hands are holding the controller.

Since they went after ms.pacman for wearing a ribbon they will go after google for doing that graphic, since it implies males as the norm and females as the dolled up one.
This is not a joke.
I love how aGG is so blinded by the hashtag that they haven't realized what kind of hands are holding the controller.
Didn't actually pay attention to that until you brought it up.
I guess that goes to show how much I don't care about whether or not women are in the gaming industry.

Is this the level of batshit insane i have stepped into.
I can't leave.

um why is mainstream media suddenly fixing its shit and being neutral
i mean really read this:
Supporters of GamerGate say that the hashtag is a way for those groups to communicate that they do not support the criticisms of the movement as misogynist or racist. But others have claimed that it is a way of deflecting criticism from the often aggressive and threatening response to female critics like Anita Sarkeesian and Zoe Quinn
I still can't believe that this controversy has gone on for so long. It is disrespectful as fuck for Schafer to do the sock puppet shit and IMO Double Fine should be banned from gaming events, including but not limited to E3.
Jesus what a manchild.

If they were willing to be open to discussion and took proper response to the stuff we found this controversy wouldn't exist.

Double Fine shouldn't be banned, but Tim shouldn't ever be allowed to do something stupid like that again.
They've finally looked hard enough to realize they've been taken for a clickbait ride.
PCGamesN and other outlets blindly rewrote and reposted Buzzfeed's interview with Jan where he claimed to be receiving vicious harassment from Gamergate after "Jace" was outed. Press-release journalism doesn't involve fact-checking.
I'm pretty certain at least 50% of the anti-gg media reporting has been blind rewrite/reprinting with no actual journalistic effort involved. The rest was flat manipulation and lying to reporters (with again, minimal to no fact checking) while anti-gg was able to suppress and control the story.
...which conveniently circles back to that major goal of Gamergate that Tumblrtwitterghazi says doesn't exist: Journalistic ethics.
I still can't believe that this controversy has gone on for so long. It is disrespectful as fuck for Schafer to do the sock puppet shit and IMO Double Fine should be banned from gaming events, including but not limited to E3.
Jesus what a manchild.
He is a manchild, but this does not solve anything. Censoring Tim and disbarring Double Fine from industry press events won't do anything except lend legitimacy to his message.
Instead, let him flap his lips and act like a racist, slowly-recovering-alcoholic uncle. He screws himself and does damage to whoever supports him--in this case, anti-gamergate.
banning anyone from discussion would make us as bad as them.
let everyone talk and let the consequences and debates roll in if someone says something stupid.
Could someone tell me why there is no real competition with Anita when it comes to feminist analysis of video games? Sommers doesn't count because the only thing she does (or, at least, gets attention for) is criticizing third wave feminism. I want to see someone who is both knowledgeable in sociology and gaming to actually tackle video game and gaming culture analysis, even if they're just small time.
Lindsey Ellis (The Nostalgia Chick) sort of did this with films, TV shows, and commercials (a lot of the time). I don't care that she isn't very popular, but she's incredibly smart and actually talks about why things are the way they are instead of non stop "here are a bunch of things that are misogynistic and therefore bad." I want someone like that for video games.

Im sure theres alot of good people working at double fine, so thats a bit harsh. I think Tim is following closely in the steps of Romero andhis daikatana fuckup. It'll be such a colossal fuckup his reputation is utterly destroyed. He seems to be off to a great start.

Schafer is probably an even easier target :v:
Besides, it's pretty much impossible to whitewash that performance if what I've heard so far is accurate.
(I'll watch the VoD in a bit, or what's left after Twitch's music copyrighting at least.)

In my opinion, the problem is not as big as people make it out to be. So it really doesn't warrant a video series. Are their issues every once in a while? Sure, but I would wager that the level of pressing issues are very low.
But I'm not stopping anyone from making a series. As long as their can be a discussion back and forth, then I'm happy.

She went full SJW-extremism recently and also uses the blocklist.
I used to like her stuff too.
Our last tweet was a mistake. Google supports an open, diverse gaming community for all. We do not support #GamerGate.
Google butt tweet
Do they realize what Gamer Gate even is? Their last tweet was anti gamer gate (or tried to be) as far as I can tell...
This tweet really should have been "Our last tweet was a mistake. Google has no opinion or stance related to #GamerGate because we're completely unrelated and becauses its a shitfest"

There's really not much interest for it, is my impression. The only reason femfreq got popular is that their commentary is so awful and dishonest that it pissed everyone off an they banked on that.
I also think that there's been huge improvements in the last years and the advent of the indie scene made games so diverse and creating your own game so (relatively) easy that it's really not a problem at all anymore, or won't be in a few years. (unless you're into the "stop liking things I don't like" mentality)

That was a very aggressive tweet, obviously some staff members have very conflicting opinions.
There's something I never understood with theses so called feminists : they want their problems solved immediately. But I don't see how that's possible : if you have 100 applicants for 20 jobs, 90 of them being men, does this mean 10 women and 10 men should be hired? It'll always result in inequity no matter what. So why isn't anita, wu, Quinn, spending all their money and energy on "anti harassment" campaigns and associations and not on funding school programs that would make more women want to get in the tech industry? How can none of theses agg followers ask themselves this question? Pretty sure they'd have a lot of support too.

I think it's beacuse she was the first one to pubically do it, her commentary is sensationalist while looking smart at the same time, and she started her campaign just when the white knight m'lady gamer types really started appearing in force.
