uve boll should make a gamergate movie
Its sure to bomb, sounds right up his alley,To be honest he cant do worse than a Dick wolf or Speed Weed.
This is the guy who made Psychonauts for fucks sake. Did he get brain damaged?
This is a guy whose first wife phoned him and when he said "honey, it'll only one more month that I won't be home to see you or the family cause I really need to get these features worked up so I can send them off to the team", and she said "Do whatever you want, Tim; I see you have your priorities in order", in a very tired voice, thought that his wife finally understood that being alone so he could make his next masterpiece was for the best, and actually was open-mouthed incredulous when the divorce papers arrived and when he got home that day she was gone.

I hope the Industry Crashes, and the reason it crashes is because of people like Anita, Zoe, Brianna and basically Anti-Gamergate. Then people will see that you can't have everything your fucking way.
Could someone tell me why there is no real competition with Anita when it comes to feminist analysis of video games? Sommers doesn't count because the only thing she does (or, at least, gets attention for) is criticizing third wave feminism. I want to see someone who is both knowledgeable in sociology and gaming to actually tackle video game and gaming culture analysis, even if they're just small time. Lindsey Ellis (The Nostalgia Chick) sort of did this with films, TV shows, and commercials (a lot of the time). I don't care that she isn't very popular, but she's incredibly smart and actually talks about why things are the way they are instead of non stop "here are a bunch of things that are misogynistic and therefore bad." I want someone like that for video games.
Because it's an absolute non-issue unless you're a literal mouth-breathing fucktard. Anyone with a pulse and an opinion can look at a product and make their own mind.
If it does crash we will rebuild, thats what all that time spent in sandbox games were for.
What do you guys think?
Was GDC ever a huge deal? Also, wasn't last years just about how to market to whales and make tons of dosh from the mobile market? Honestly if i'm rembering correctly it doesn't sound like things have changed.
https://www.reddit.com/r/KotakuInAction/comments/2y30o2/gdcrant_this_years_gdc_wasdifferent/ What a post. And the part about the Whos in VIP really piss me off. Them being anywhere in the same regard of literal video game GODS just makes me livid. I mean, seriously. They've done absolute jack shit compared to Romero. Even Diakatana is ten times better then Depression Quest, and he didn't even have to throw actual depressed people under a bus. FUCK. But really, a good write up from a dev at GDC. (User was banned for this post ("Meme face" - Craptasket))
As someone who's trying to write a 2D "game engine" (as much as you can make a 2D game engine, I want a framework upon which I can add things, y'know) from scratch in C++, this is something that I've kinda' noticed as well. Like, twine is pretty much a point and click choose your own adventure creator, which is pretty cool, but DAMN did it dominate stuff like RPS' "live free, play hard" section when I still used to read RPS. Lots of other tools like that seem to be pretty common, and I'm starting to get the feeling that a lot of these people who tend to fall in the anti crowd are people from an entirely different social group, a different culture, from myself and others here. Like, I do this stuff for the knowledge and because I like tinkering with things and I love videogames... But the point is entirely different for them. It's to get a message out and to get famous. I suppose what I'm trying to say, as ridiculous as it sounds, is that I think we've been invaded by hipsters over the course of the past few years. Hell, with all the waffling against nerds and about "gamers not having to be your audience", I think that they realized it before we did, or at least before I did.
In the long term GDC was simply absolute proof that if there are decent souls dwelling within #AGG, they are not visible, and they are not heard. "Never let decency or fairness compromise ideology"
So Hey Ash, what'cha playing also made gamergate jokes....Why? How does Gamergate have to do with GDC? No seriously why? When I see GDC and Gamergate together, I think of those Rich assholes who laugh at poor people because they aren't rich. And besides, GAMERGATE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GDC, IT'S AN AWARD CEREMONY FOR GAMES, NOT FOR GAMERGATE.
Remember who runs GDC: UBM, owner of Gamasutra and also the IGF. Remember how the IGF is basically stooge central for the core circle of corruption? The hubris is almost tangible now. Then people will see that you can't have everything your fucking way.
The thread goes into shit that's wrong with OP's assessment of GDC and what it meant. Valve had live demos on site and announced huge shit, for one thing. GDC is for devs, not the end consumer, and even if it "dies" who fucking cares. Valve could've easily done its big Source 2 engine reveal from a boardroom on a video stream, with video panels and a question moderation function for developer-focused talks relating to the engine. The one gotcha is VR, because you do have to see that shit in person, but we've got CES and E3 and TGS and if you're big enough you can skip having to time announcements and just do your own thing, like Oculus Direct.
I suppose what I'm trying to say, as ridiculous as it sounds, is that I think we've been invaded by hipsters over the course of the past few years. It's taken different people variable amounts of time to realize that they aren't interested in taking prisoners. I found an interview/profile on Wu, and buried among mountains of fluff and the same old shit from Wu, is:
Wu is in the dining room, finishing an interview with a filmmaker for a documentary about Gamergate, GTFO, debuting this spring at the South by Southwest festival in Austin. Earlier in the day, she had met with a prospective ghostwriter who wants to tell her life story. But one of Wu's friends in the gaming industry has suggested that her story may be more complicated than she lets on--that as bad as the situation has been for Wu, she "wasn't dragged" into it. "She taunted Gamergate for weeks," this woman continued, who asked that her name be withheld. "She baited them, and then they finally came after her, which is exactly what she wanted them to do."
I bet I know someone who's not Wu's friend anymore. As much as I hope it doesn't happen, I bet they'll be exposed within 72 hours unless the entire story just gets shoved under the rug.
Huh, according to that article there's a documentary being made about GG. I wonder why nobody on the pro-gg side has mentioned being interviewed for it? Wait, no, I'm not wondering because the answer is incredibly obvious.
There has been a Gamergate Documentary in production? Since when? How come we never heard of this?
laughed so fucking hard
There has been a Gamergate Documentary in production? Since when? How come we never heard of this?
Because it's obviously going to be another attempted hit piece on GamerGate. If it wanted to take a neutral stance, we probably would have heard of GG supporters being interviewed for it. Hell, the name for it should be a dead giveaway, "GTFO".

Is it bad that I want to see the downfall of Brianna Wu?
I'd like to hope that it'll be as funny as the SVU episode, but something tells me that it won't.
It's going to be pathetic like all the MSM articles combined. Crocodile tears, labeling gamers as a hate group, and white knights ahoy. Although I am curious as to how it's production will be affected by this week's events. I have a feeling that article was written before Wu was thrown under the bus and Schafer fucked up. EDIT: I'm also starting to suspect another reason we haven't heard of this until now is because the producers probably didn't want to get SeaLion'd by GG'ers if they openly announced that they were making an obviously anti-gg documentary.
Is anyone going to Pax tomorrow? If you are then read this. http://8ch.net/gamergate/res/441390.html And if you wanna show support. http://8ch.net/gamergate/res/441390.html#442011

GTFO seeks to investigate misogyny in video game culture and questions the future of this 20 billion dollar industry. (World Premiere)

When you think of video games, you think of a teenage boy playing in his parents' basement, right? Well today, up to 45% of all gamers are women. I was shocked when a friend told me about the abuse that many female gamers endure simply because of their gender. I immediately began filming this documentary, entitle 'GTFO' in reference to the response that many women encounter while gaming: 'Get the F&#$ Out.' The purpose of this film is to reveal the experiences of women in the gaming world, as well as to provide steps we can take to change the environment for the better. If features female pro gamers, writers, scholars, developers, and other experts.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3891970/ It's not a "Gamergate" documentary so much as exactly the same topic agg is pushing, and happily linking across on Twitter for obvious cross-promotion opportunities. It was kickstarted in 2013. Official movie Twitter account, with link to official site. Unless things have been re-edited since this past summer, this is not necessarily the same kind of shrill victimhood attention-seeking bullshit we're used to seeing come out of agg, but a possibly more-sane or at least less shitlordful look at the situation. The timing is likely a marketing decision more than fresh and relevant GG content being a core feature. Maybe there'll be a cameo interview of Macbeth's three witches jammed in somewhere, but it was probably mostly finished by the time this shit kicked off.
Did anyone report the False Bomb Flag Brianna Wu mentioned on twitter the other day? I mean, there probably was but I just want to be sure. And if by some chance no one has, then fucking do it. Not just because she is aGG but because that shit is fucking illegal.

Also, why haven't we taken the PAX hashtags yet?
Here's the trailer. Wait, shit, full-bore Anita at the one-minute mark. Never mind, abort From an interview:
You started filming this before Gamergate was a thing, so how did Gamergate affect how you went about what to include in the film, if at all? We did end up putting a short postscript about Gamergate into the festival cut of the film, because it's fresh in people's minds, and if we left it out it would be conspicuously missing from a movie about women in gaming. Sadly, three of the women that I featured in the movie (or perhaps more) ended up being attacked because of their involvement in Gamergate. The one thing I will say about Gamergate is that even though it may seem like a messy and complicated issue, the bottom line is that nobody should be attacked due to their gender, nobody should have their personal information leaked without their consent, and nobody should ever send death or rape threats, period. Gamergate is not an isolated incident—it's just the most infamous and public example of harassment of women in gaming.
I think everyone here would agree with the bit I bolded. I'm waiting for agg to prove they actually believe it. (I bet this documentary doesn't mention any history involving Helldump.)
Rumors are that Reddit bought 4chan. Hey guys, I've been lurking here since the start of this particular thread version and the latter part of the last. I don't read everything, I just kind of skim the pages for the more important stuff. What I came to say is: why all the e-celeb and e-villian bullshit here? You guys post Twitter drama here all the time and I just don't understand how it's relevant to GG's goal. Just so you know, I am pro-GG so don't get the wrong idea. I also think TB is a cool guy, but it's too the point of idolization with some of these people here. I may have seen this asked here before, but I don't remember the outcome. (please don't hurt me, I genuinely want to know)
If it does crash we will rebuild, thats what all that time spent in sandbox games were for.
well shit, all I did was quicksave in a store and kill the same shopkeeper over and over
If it does crash we will rebuild, thats what all that time spent in sandbox games were for.
the fire rises
It'd be cool if Facepunch ends up getting a reputation for being pro-GG. I've seen our names mentioned once or twice, but that isn't enough to make us a LW target.
Actually 8chan has a bit, we should help.
Let's hop on aboard. While I don't see the problem with their participation, it's gotten to the point where it's become sitting back and waiting for an e-celeb to do something fancy rather than take direct initiative ourselves.

We'll go pages and pages of twitter roasting but I have no idea what's going on this week with corruption. I could go read the /gamergate/ threads though, they tend to have up to date OPs, and I only read the last unread posts in this thread.
