Corruption in Gaming Journalism Discussion V2 - Back from the dead!

So instead of restoring them or saying "it wasn't us doing it sorry for the confusion", they go ahead and do what we thought they were doing in the first place. How can anyone in any news agency be that stupid?
I swear to god I'm almost certain even major news sites are just as corrupt at this point as american politics.

It does count down to August 26th.
the zoepost was in "August 16, 2014", the whole burger and fries thing started booming at the ending weeks of august and later got dropped and turn into GamerGate at September so yes, that site will launch(?) at the date when burger and fries starts effecting people like zoe quinn and co.
Just wanted to confirm that the countdown does go August 16, 2015

Yes. I have been following but I am on the Gaming side. There's been a mix up and even after reading about it I am completely fucking confused on the two titles and group names because I am fundamentally retarded in distinguishing between two. If you, or anyone else, can spare twenty seconds in helping me realize what the two are in simple sentences of Anti-GG and GG, then I would appreciate it a lot.
This is not a joke, I am asking for your help.
In very simple terms, GG is pro-gamer and AGG is not. But to be more specific, GamerGate is just the name of the scandal which started as a push for ethics in gaming journalism. In the strictest sense, you can't be a member of GamerGate, but you can be a gamer fighting for ethics. "AGG" mostly consists of SJWs and the corrupt journalists and gamedevs using them as a shield.
This didn't start as a cultural battle but thanks to the LWs injecting "social justice" into it to protect themselves from criticism, it has become one.

Gamergate: originally scandal about collusion and corruption in games journalist, now commonly referred as a "movement" or "consumer revolt" which asks for ethical journalistic practices with secondary focus on free speech. Also stands against the attempted appropriation of gaming culture by those who'd rather change it to suit their tastes rather than carve their own space
Anti-Gamergate: reactionary group to stop gamergate with secondary focus on forcing political correctedness and "minority quotas" in games

uses antifa logo, has no actual followers or whatever, calls themselves trolls r facists
something isn't right there
whoever they are they should probably read up on what fascism is because they say it a lot but never seem to use it correctly
[editline]18th January 2015[/editline]
unless they want to claim we're gamer nationalists then lmao
Fascism kinda requires a leader last time I checked the whole situation made it damn near impossible to have a leader.
if we're going to throw the fascist label around like a ball, a-GG has more in line with fascist ideology and tactics than GG does
Now I'm not sure, but isn't fascism about entrusting everything with corporations- essentially the polar opposite of communism? So... aren't we, if anything, more like quasi-anarchists?
Fascism requires an authoritarian leader and an emphasis on nationalism. Gamergate, being an international grass roots consumer revolt that lacks leadership is probably the exact opposite of fascism.

This is why I laugh when people call Sarkeesian and Co "social marxists". They ally themselves with corporations and corporate media and exploit the capitalist system for their own gain. They are the type of people Marx and his acolytes would have despised.

If there was actually a communist revolution, people like Jonathan McIntosh, Alex Liefschitz, and Randi Harper would be the first ones against the wall.
Silicon Valley, ruled by white-cis-het-male-liberal tech elites, fetishizes the ideals of western ideology. The tech community believes that all people are created equally, and an individuals success is easily measured by the merit of their work. Worshiping at the alter of this meritocracy, Silicon Valley companies have erected shrines to this belief in the form of meeting rooms that are replicas of the oval office complete with rugs that say “In the Meritocracy We Trust”. This vision is obviously completely blind to the economic and social oppression that many groups face that greatly alters ones ability to create merit in the first place. This ideology of tech views the privileged white-cis-het-male who has the free time and disposable income to work on fun side projects as an inherently more valuable member of society than a member of a marginalized group who never saw the same opportunities.
[emphasis mine]
This is satire, right?
They did misspell Breitbart as BreitBart though, which makes me think it's not.
(I still can't help but read it as "wide beard" since that's what it means in German...)
So the comments on the ABC video just went from 6800 to 2400.

At the very least not all, but they also still haven't un-spammed TotalBiscuit's.

They are; they have been since the 80's; there's no almost about it.
In other news, the sky is blue and the earth generally goes in a circular direction.
There's a pretty cool interview with Ted Turner about how he thought his edges against the major three networks at the time were that he could 1: get a breaking story to TV immediately because the news was literally always on and 2: because he owned the network outright, he could "make people want to watch the news by making it interesting".
Objective journalism was already dying in the late 80s as people hungry to replace Brokaw, Rather and Jennings with "more compelling hosts" started getting executive positions within their respective companies, and the final nail in the coffin in America for objective journalism was merger of Warners Brothers and Time.
The best part is the insulation will only get deeper when Comcast and TW join; effectively 40% of the new agencies/outlets in America will be under one roof, with one parent company that's already been hot water for a decade over ethics violations and antitrust issues from both previous shareholder companies.
Good times.

There is a film adaptation of Harrison Bergeron that's fairly recent and did a good job updating the theme and stuff. It's under a different name that I can't remember right now, though.

Christ I read that in high school religion class.
It is impossible to create a utopia, because no one human is perfect; and nobody can force that upon them. People need to make fun of themselves and others as a way to criticize, remove that, and your left with people who have nothing but hatred and the desire to change others to think likewise.
In the end, anything can offend somebody, and if we listen to them we will have no thoughts or feelings, we will have not freedom, but oppression.
That's what I wrote in that class anyways.
was it Harrison Bergeron, made in 1995?
Nope, it was 2081.
I think an ideal society isn't one where nobody mocks anybody, but one where anybody can be mocked without genuine animosity. Look at how red-headed people are treated nowadays- light-hearted jokes about them not having souls, etc, but anybody who legitimately treats them as lower people are treated like backwards idiots. I think that kind of state is the ideal 'end game' for genuine equality.
I don't want 'offensive' humour to go away because all humour is offensive to somebody if they can twist it enough. There are some people I really can't stand, but they have the right to continue existing alongside their shitty opinions, even if I'd personally try and convince them that their opinions are shitty (with actual logic behind my reasoning).
The reason why I don't like people like McIntosh is because they've got one set of rules for one kind of person, and a different set for another. If you're going to have an opinion, keep it consistent.
i like 4chan culture because it defuses the bad words to simple joke namecalling to the point where they arn't offensive anymore.
on boards like 4chan, everyone is a nigger faggot (equality)
this is why SJW's hate 4chan culture. it takes away the shock of those words so they can't use it to act "oppressed" and get special bonuses.
due to this, im proud to call myself a transgender/tranny/trap/transvestite. words do not hurt me. actions do.
As Tyrion Lannister from GoT said: "Never forget what you are. The rest of the world will not. Wear it like armor, and it can never be used to hurt you."

He's making fun of everyone. Tumblr SJWs because they have some irrational fetish for equality and being offended about things, and conspiracy nutcases who think the world is going to become some dystopian hellhole the moment someone loses an argument on the internet.

I feel like with the advent of the internet, things like sex have lost a lot of their taboo factor. And people are looking for other things to fill this taboo-void in order to feel like they're morally correct or something.
In order to be morally correct, there have to be people who are morally wrong.
Sticks and stones may break my bones but please donate to my patreon I am being harrassed

spread it around as much as you can.
It's a petition to have ABC analogize, it's something.
Signed, spreading it around.

There's a wonderful episode of Duckman that explores offensive humor.

Damn that's a blast from the past, I remember catching glimpses of that show when I was a kid, but the art style creeped me the fuck out
That is great though I'm gonna have to watch the rest
They really don't make 2d animated shows like they used to anymore
Saw this on twitter and laughed more than I should have
