I've read two Politico articles that have a tiny GamerGate mention, and both times they refer to GGers as misogynistic white conservatives. Where did we go wrong?
well considering that's been the narrative from the aGG side from the very beginning nowhere should be the correct answer
Speaking of narratives, remember crash override? Gaming Journalists certainly do. 22 "#gamergate survivors make new site" in 3 days. [editline]22nd January 2015[/editline] Let's not forget the masses of totally real people saying the exact same thing about it
One doesn't even need Arbcom to realize Ryulong has no place on any wiki Like seriously he's received money from anti-gamers, called Gamers various insults, approaches every scenario with the battleground mentality of "I HAVE TO SAVE THE WOMEN", is considered by anti-gamers to be on their side and pretty much confirms it, uses emotional arguments instead of logical ones, and for fucks sake he is literally some weirdo who just edited power rangers and anime stuff in the past. Yet somehow acting this autistic gets support from Wikipedia because he agrees with ~Social Justice~
for the longest time I thought Ryulong was Ryu-Gi.
I've read two Politico articles that have a tiny GamerGate mention, and both times they refer to GGers as misogynistic white conservatives. Where did we go wrong?
1. Trusting in idiots like IA and KoP to steer the ship 2. Not getting mad enough quick enough 3. Getting mad on messageboards such as this yet still continuing to go to biased sites and buy games from biased companies whom give no fucks about their readers/customers other than $$$ 4. Allowing #agg to run the narrative and get political and simply relying on "well, we're fighting the good fight and the truth and goodness will rectify itself", sure that'll happen... in a couple of decades; meanwhile people are already out of work and things are already getting vitriolic/mccarthyistic in several workplaces and they aren't going to get better anytime soon, which means people coming up in the industry are either going to have to learn to lie through their teeth, drink the koolaid with a smile or be lucky enough to get a job at a good company where people aren't hypocritical assholes 5. Continuing to buy shovelware annual installment of games instead of putting devs and pubs to the task of putting creativity and art on the same level of shareholder expectations by giving them to the point and actionable feedback so that legitimate issues of inclusiveness and diversity can actually be addressed on a level playing without pandering or any other social meme absurdity [editline]22nd January 2015[/editline]
for the longest time I thought Ryulong was Ryu-Gi.
One of these is afraid of breasts and the other draws/highlights with them bloom and parallax and an all white specular maps with the phong set to 255 in every piece of art they make wat
What happened to IA and KoP?
What happened to IA and KoP?
IA quit 'cause we were too moderate for his tastes, no idea about KoP, I think something to do with a stream
IA quit 'cause we were too moderate for his tastes, no idea about KoP, I think something to do with a stream
he got renamed to king of spaghetti after his pockets overflow from it on the stream, he spaghetti'd so hard that people start ignoring him he also made a fake picture and made it even worse
He acted like a twit in a stream, but that wasn't the problem. He kept trying to hijack the movement and turn it in to a psychotic weapon of his, and he was caught fabricating evidence and was basically completely rejected by the movement.
KoP spewed hilarious holocaust conspiracies, made fake evidence, and destroyed his reputation to the point where no one listened to him anymore. that saturday stream was a godsend to prevent gamergate into turning into some shit group (it was also hilarious)

I saw his replies to Anita or some other feminist and thought he was just some MRA douche.
KoP spewed hilarious holocaust conspiracies, made fake evidence, and destroyed his reputation to the point where no one listened to him anymore. that saturday stream was a godsend to prevent gamergate into turning into some shit group (it was also hilarious)
Not surprising from a guy named King of Pol. Seriously, simply because SJWs are against us, assholes try to hijack GamerGate into some sort of anti-SJW, MRA group.
Hey Wii, mind giving an update on the Wikipedia issue?
not sure If posted, http://blogjob.com/oneangrygamer/2015/01/gamergate-aaa-dev-says-most-people-know-game-journo-sites-are-corrupt/
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/139538-Entertainment-Media-Council-and-DEFY-Media-Building-Searchable-Video-Game-Writing-Collection something to look out for, it makes me uneasy.
Not really ontopic but apparently RWS is following KoP.
Wow, escapist is turning over a lot. Didn't we lose Sterling as well over? I wonder if the escapist is aware that the only reason anyone shows up is Yahtzee.
We didn't lose Sterling, he was always against GamerGate. He just wasn't stupid enough to blatantly say so.
I like how the findings of fact against masem got smacked down so quickly.
It makes sense. Masem has consistantly been one of the best editors working on the article. Knocking them off of it would be a big mistake for WP.
http://www.reddit.com/r/KotakuInAction/comments/2t6cg8/srs_controlled_ranarchism_bans_users_that_dare_to/ r/anarchism bans anyone defending gamergate. the irnoy.
As someone who tends to lean much more towards the anarchistic side of the political spectrum rather than the authoritarian, this is a fucking embarrassment. I wonder what prominent anarchists like Noam Chomsky would say about shit like this.
Not really ontopic but apparently RWS is following KoP.
Why is this worth mentioning of all the things
Why is this worth mentioning of all the things
Well isn't RWS Pro-GG?
I wish people would altogether stop referring to it as Pro/Anti-GG We're not the scandal, were the gamers.
I wish people would altogether stop referring to it as Pro/Anti-GG We're not the scandal, were the gamers.
Its just like I said a few pages back here, you'll get the point across easier if you stick with Pro-Gamer/Anti-Gamer
Hey Wii, mind giving an update on the Wikipedia issue?
At the moment https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/GamerGate/Proposed_decision#Ryulong_topic-banned_.28III.29 Barring any vote changes, here's the current outcomes for users. Ryulong is getting topic banned from GG and any gender controversy articles. The indef is still possible if he gets two more votes on it TDA is being indeffed. Red Pen is admonished Titanium Dragon is topic banned from GG and gender articles The masem topic ban failed. All the rest are still uncertain(Though it looks like loganmac is probably getting tbanned too)
While I think loganmac shoud steer clear of the article by himself for being involved the evidence presented against him is so ridiculous (comments from the talk page, not even editing the article) that if that passes then pretty much everyone involved needs to get shown the door aswell
Loganmac didn't edit the article anyways and was just on the talk pages, so I am sure it's not a big deal for him.
So once ArbCom is over, would it be possible for someone to go in and redo the whole article?
What the hell are we even fighting at this point though? Haven't we already gotten the ethics reform from most major gaming sites besides a few stubborn SJW fuckwit sites?
I wish people would altogether stop referring to it as Pro/Anti-GG We're not the scandal, were the gamers.
When it comes to this kind of stuff, you have to stick with the majority opinion of what it's 'called' or else you'll just be ignored. People have decided that 'pro-' and 'anti-GG' are the terms which are going to be used, and unless we declare ourselves a formalised group of people (not particularly likely) or launch a big awareness campaign (even less likely without the former happening first), those are the times which are going to stick. Using things like 'anti-Gamer' just conflates the issue, eg Jack Thompson is pretty anti-gamers but probably wouldn't agree with Anita Sarkeesian. Haven't we already gotten the ethics reform from most major gaming sites besides a few stubborn SJW fuckwit sites?
I think at this point we're mainly fighting for a few purposes, in order of (what I perceive as their) importance: A: To continue trying to get more reforms. B: To get our own reputation back. C: To try and expose the fact that we've been smeared and that the people who have smeared us are often hardly angels.
What the hell are we even fighting at this point though? IGN and The Escapist did full reforms though which is why I use them again.

http://thefineyoungcapitalists.tumblr.com/post/108832538195/on-not-news-and-why-gamergate-sustains TFYC write about the "news" and GamerGate.
I disagree with the Jack Thompson comparison, it doesn't matter if they don't agree, both try to harm the industry. Calling yourself GG also makes it easier to smear you and people start to forget journalists were attacking the gamer identity by lying about it being only aggresive white males. By calling ourselves GG they have the opportunity to invalidate us as their consumers by claiming were just the GG gamers. Calling yourself Pro-Gamers let's people know who they're truly attacking.
