Corruption in Gaming Journalism Discussion V2 - Back from the dead!

So when Wikipedia allows a heavily biased article which is clearly written to be against Gamergate, that's all fine and dandy, but as soon as the people who are aggressively stopping any positive change being made to the article are prevented from doing so, they're endorsing GG? Most of the people involved here don't even support GG. They're neutral.
We finally have an idea about who doxxed Lizzy.

People are also wondering if this group has any connections to the hotbox hacks.
Who needs CON anyways? You got gamergate supporters doing the job for you.
Also, FemFreq raised 440k in 2014, with 44% going straight to Josh and Sharks pockets.
And they still haven't finished Tropes v. Women.

For a non-profit company, that sure is a huge paycheck.
And is anyone surprised that they ran with the money and are instead of finishing their Tropes vs. Women instead making a brand new series?

Can a company sell merchandise and be a non-profit organisation?
Also their plans for 2015 are just make more videos, how does more money help?
And is anyone surprised that they ran with the money and are instead of finishing their Tropes vs. Women instead making a brand new series?
i wonder if all the supporters of tropes vs women know/care about it. too bad a good enough portion of them probably support FF through anything that a class action lawsuit will do nothing
Their projects at the bottom seem interesting. Then again, it's likely that anything which puts unrealistic expectations upon men will be seen as 'toxic masculinity' and neatly swept under the rug rather than painting it with the same brush as FF's opinions on women's representation.
So non-profit basically stands for "we're not doing it for the money but we will gladly accept a fat paycheck"?
This sounds like the best legal scam ever

Non-profit means that the expenses will match the revenues. FF is basically breaking even, with the only real earnings being wages for employees but the company itself being at a standstill.
You know you're crazy when even the white supremacists are saying "What the fuck are you even talking about"
On the contrary, are you really on the right track when a Neo-Nazi is standing at the sidelines cheering you on? His support could be construed as good or bad depending on how much his views align with your goal.
If you want X and are against Y, and a Nazi supports Y, you could easily go "Look at this, Y is so terrible even the Nazis support it!" but on the other hand if a Nazi is supporting X you could say "See, X is the reasonable option, even a Nazi can see that!". It's a bit of a fallacy in this case to imagine his support means either good or bad, even if he is a Nazi (Is he actually? I don't know who it is), he's also a human and has opinions unrelated to Nazism. Food for thought.

Reminds me of that rant that one female dev (I think?) posted about professional victims, because they were stealing the spotlight and raking in donations while her actual effort in game development went completely unnoticed.

I don't know how anyone can even take this with a grain of salt when she has talked about how much her parents gave her.

Couldn't you just in theory incorporate yourself as a salesman and then "sell" yourself an object you took from your desk for 440k, or something similar (put something up for auction at 440k and buy it back)? That's assuming there aren't any strict guidelines on how the money is used, just spent so there's no "profit".
(This isn't about FF, just theorycrafting about loopholes in general.)
I'm a binary trans person but I support non-binary trans people as well as alternative pronouns. I think that what TB said was a bit callous but at the very most I'd call it ignorant, rather than outright 'transphobic spew'. It's closer to Grandma calling black people 'Negroes' than the KKK. If TB respects the right of non-binary people to exist and identify themselves how they wish, I don't think there's really a problem though- but I'd rather that he clarify it at some point.
If you want to be called a xir mar per flar snar or whatever the fuck then you are a huge fucking idiot and I wont respect that.
If you honestly try and pull that type of shit you are just looking for very special attention OR you honestly have some mental problems. Its made up shit that isnt even real and the people who get sassy when someone doesnt respect their pronouns are petty as fuck and need to grow the fuck up and act like a real adult instead of a fucking child who thinks people should bendover and respect you just because you say so.
Want me to call you a he/she/it/ then ill do it, I dont care, perfectly fine with that.
Want me call you Xir then im gonna just laugh and so wont any normal person. Its not real and its serious special snowflake syndrome or some mental problem.
Its a fucking retarded concept thats exploded due to internet hugboxing and circlejerks and thats the ONLY reason some people think its perfectly okay and promote it, when in fact its probably more damaging to be like that in the long run.

So her response to all of those allegations, which are very detailed and specific, are "BUT FRANK IS SUCH A NICE GUYYYYY!", even when his own, initial statement (to which his ex-wife's was a response) was talking about how horrible, manipulative, disgusting, evil, Cruella DeVille she was?
My question is, what kind of doctor "diagnoses" abusive behavior. What would it take to make it official that people like ZQ and Frank are Abusers?
So there was an indie game announced that mocks SJWs at PAX.
My question is, what kind of doctor "diagnoses" abusive behavior. What would it take to make it official that people like ZQ and Frank are Abusers?
Well, broadly speaking there are two or three ways to diagnose abusive behavior and frankly none of them can be used here.
At-Will would be a Couple's Therapist or a Social Care Worker who's trained in helping people identify what they're doing to other people. Usually these people identify abusive individuals who have come to them looking for help because they realize they're pushing others away, or people are reffered to them by a court because people keep showing up at work after falling down stairs.
More narrowly and more "actionable" would be someone like a psychiatrist or a mental health professional. They have more strict criteria for what makes a person "abusive" and it usually revolves around self-aggrandizing at the expense of their target, or using power (physical, fininancial, emotional) to keep others around them subdued. Usually these people are also only employed at-will or in a legal sense. Their word is slightly more powerful because unlike the two former, they are making judgements about mindsets rather than circumstances.
Which is where the issue crops up.
In all of those cases, "Diagnosis at range" is not only discouraged it's generally disallowed on a professional level. Why? Because without very close fresh evidence, personal interviews and strict discipline, anyone could be diagnosed as being something or the other from far away. Want to try? Find any of your favorite Facepunch personalities with +1,500 posts and start trying to "diagnose" them as something. All you need are a few evidence points and a DSM before you'll start raking in the "Chronic Depression, Psycopath, Dementia" hat-trick.
It won't help us to assassinate the character of these people with any sort of psychological label. If anything it does something we shouldn't be doing, that is, pointing out the weakness in people because of their psyche-profiles.
That's what bullies do, and we're here to stop the bullies.
