http://peachbo.tumblr.com/post/108104300366/dont-be-mad-at-intel-be-glad that girl dev who was attacked by AGG made this post on Intel funding IGDA and femfreq. It's a nice read, what do you guys think?
[editline]14th January 2015[/editline]
Also read the entire thing to the end so you understand her point, she's NOT condoning Intel supporting femfreq or IGDA.
it is a pretty good point.
Now there's no capability for the AGG/FF side to argue that "the industry is misogynistic" without 1) ignore reality that Intel is in their corner 2) Directly insutling Intel and having Intel mad at them.
This literally cuts off an entire avenue of attack from their side. It's kind of a win win.
Thats assuming that goalposts don't shift over time. And intel while big is just one corner so it still can be claimed without much harm. Things like the intel stuff would take months to setup, months were both on the FF and McIntosh twitter accounts where said some things that even the companies with the biggest balls would distant themselves from. So business as usual.
of course the goal posts will shift, that's just how crap like this goes.
the important thing is to maintain our volume and continue to point out the hypocrisy and inconsistencies of these people and their arguments as often as possible for the uninformed public to see. We don't have much media presence yet, but what can FF do if they get on another talk show? Continue to slam the entire industry as woman hating? That's not something they can do anymore as far as I'm concerned, and I'm pretty sure as far as Intel is concerned either. They have a reputation to uphold. If their own funded people continue to call them and everyone else misogynists, how do you think that'll work?
so the water company in san fran is ACTUALLY called "SJWater".
it's true after all. they ARE all drinking the kool-aid.
That means I (probably) drink it too
Remember when Lizzy's article was taken off of Buzzfeed? Lizzy managed to get it reposted, but it seems it's not getting the respect it deserves. https://twitter.com/lizzyf620/status/555493378583191552/photo/1

also the diversity lounge is getting a upgrade at pax (specifically pax aus).
it has achievements now.

i been to it last year at pax east, all it is is a spot to sell borderline gay pornography and literotica with one or two tables that actually discuss game politics (One was a transgender table). it is also the emptiest room in the entire convention because no one gives a shit.

While that "become an ally" is worrying as all shit the "you win no matter what" makes it seem that its not like you have to go through a series of cult meetings to "get" the achievements. Maybe just showing up suffices.
That said that little map looks like california which is hilariously ironic.
i found a better way to be a ally to help people like me get accepted:
step 1) dont be a dick.
congrats your now a ally. no need to visit a pax convention to grab the achivement. be free
At Pax Prime they had some tabletop stuff and people promoting their local groups and clubs, doesn't seem like a big deal honrdtly
pax east has a entire room

that rainbow booth and the one next to it is the one i am talkin about of having the weird near-pornographic shit
the whole room felt really weird due to that except for the transgender table on the right side when the two trans people are there and the rest of the table areas on the wall. the room has a entirely different tone than the rest of the convention thus the room doesn't feel like a "pax" place except for the huge pax logo scroll on the wall. honestly felt like they put a "diversity lounge" there to deter criticism
this aint really a pax thread tho.
btw can anyone access 8chan? Cloudflare is blocking me.

more indepth than depression quest
I cant wait for the DLC expansion.
What are peoples actual gripes about Depression Quest. I played it at a pretty dark time in my life and I found it to be engaging at the very least. I mean I'm kinda a sucker for that stuff, but the is the criticism that it's barely more than a fancy html file or is it the actual content of the game. I liked it and it probably played at least a small role in me going to see a therapist.

It recieved some flak due to the accusations Quinn used her relationship with gaming journos for PR,it was attempting to use the death of Robin Williams for publicity, and that the money that was supposed to go to charities wasnt.
So far it turns out false, possibly, and unsure of whether it did or not.

I really don't have any gripes with it either. Playing it actually led me to a conversation with my mom which was pretty eye opening and probably helped me get through my worst mental years (the conversation, not the game).

Pretty sure that has more to do with Zoe as a person than her game.

Some criticism arises from how the game is being praised as an accurate representation of depression when some things in it are actually unrealistic or inaccurate. From what I've read about it (I haven't actually played it) the player seems to be more unsocial than depressed.

I imagine most of it was from the press praising it like it was the second coming of christ when it's less of a game and more of an interactive story (no I'm not going to argue the semantics of what makes a game, you know what I mean there), but it wasn't the kind of game most of their readership was used, or interested to
It wasn't the first of it's genre and despite that the attention it got was unprecedented for it's kind, people didn't quite understand at the time what was going on behind the scenes
It's also disliked because of how it got "launched" into the mainstream. Framing Wizardchan is just sick, especially since her game is supposed to deal with stuff that the Wizards suffer with.
So nice to see this thread again and with that a hot news.

Well, that and the fact that there might as well not be multiple endings. There's absolutely no danger, you'll still just kinda soldier on at the same general mental level as if you had put in all the effort to get a prescription and go out more.
Basically, it's a game that refuses to let you think you're making progress, and not in a way that emulates depression.

"Fuck you I wait in greenlight for 3 days for this!?"

Then one day you can't let games capped at 30 FPS in and so on.
i wanna touch on Pax for one more thing that i forgot to mention.
Pax actively bans booth babes. for those who dont know what they are, they are women who advertise a product in a companies booth. they are given the title "booth babes" because the women are usually attractive.
heres a example story from Pax Aus:

and the new Booth babe policies limit what clothes they can wear (it says "ANY gender" but name me one guy who wears higher than 4" skirts and shows navel and clevage at pax)

hell the entire Pax Aus Guide looks terrible:

That was pretty much my experience of that at PaxAus. I went past it once to get to one of the theaters and it was literally devoid of people aside from those running the tables there.

They definitely still had booth babes that would break those rules for the big time booths. I'm pretty sure Wargaming had some.
How bout' a gaming convention where everybody just treats each other normally like every other fucking convention instead of trying to inject gender politics into it.
Diversity lounge is the dumbest thing when you are actively trying to force what females wear, like how hypocritical and ironic.
There were definitely a lot less women specifically in cosplay at 2014 PaxAus compared to 2013, which is honestly unbelievable because the size of the event and the venue used essentially tripled.
Not gonna lie, I wish I bought a Dickwolves T-shirt.
a specific LW said she got laid off along with a bunch of engineering teams
the CEO of the company said she lied

Nightline going to do a hitpiece with a LW.
(Theory) The blocklist was created to censor opinion, not harassment. Easier to convince people when it appears nobody is criticizing you; it was designed to block as many rational people as possible so that there is zero dissenting opinion.
Sounds conspiracy-theory level, but the fact she refuses to fix it and make it actually block harassers makes me and a couple others highly suspicious. It's pretty clear this was made to block gamergate opinion, that's a given fact. Also, new accounts can easily get past the blocklist, which the majority of harassment came from in the first place. There was clearly no thought put into this blocklist - or maybe more then we think.
She already confirmed this ages ago.
