is this the thread im supposed to hate women in
Please report to your local GamerGate center where you will recieve your shot of MisogyAid™ and one of our dear leaders will have an interview with you. Only then, if you're deemed worthy, everything will be clear.
Someone needs to make a site where you can search the name of a game and get a list of AGG people involved in its creation, which leads to a list of all the bullying, harassment, sexism, hypocrisy and dumb tweets, blogs, articles and such associated with them. I don't really want to give hard earned money to people who want to paint me as scum so they can feel good about themselves. [editline]30th January 2015[/editline] Like, I really love Homeworld, and I want to buy HW remastered, but I also don't want to give money to a company that employs Anthony Burch.
Make a Steam curator with a big fat "AGG" and "👎" as icon. I know some don't like that kind of stuff because it technically has nothing to do with the game as product (I saw a tweet by Reimu about the GG endorsement curator.), but for some people (not necessarily but sometimes including me) it's the same as not buying eggs from unacceptable farming conditions. It's also going to get hopelessly buried for everyone not interested so it's not going to affect the image of the game more than necessary.
https://twitter.com/AngryJoeShow Looks like Angryjoe will put up his controversy video tomorrow. I wonder what #1 might be...
Did we play the same game. Borderlands 2 literally has several quests where you work to help a male character hook up with a female character. I also can't think of any characters off the top of my head where "non-heteroness" is the main trait? [editline]29th January 2015[/editline] Keep in mind that a lot of people worked on Borderlands 2 that aren't Anthony Burch. He says some dumb shit but it certainly doesn't stop me from enjoying the game.
I was not talking about Borderlands in that specific sentence, but your right, borderlands characters are in general quite weakly written in that regard.

We really shouldn't use our size and influence to try and drag people away from certain content creators, it's a scummy thing to do, you should use your influence to bring attention to the people that you support. Remember all those twitter hashtags that started as way of bringing negative change(#unsubtb #zerobiscuit), and people hijacked them to turn them into something positive? People could have ignore them and just let them be and die off in a week just like the rest, but instead used our size and influence to make them a force for positive change not just for us, but for other people who may not even know we are a thing.

Making one just called "scummy devs" and not advertising it to/as GG is probably a better idea. I really don't think it shouldn't exist though: - If people care about it and it has an impact due to that then it's simply the devs' fault for verifiably acting like human garbage. - If people don't care then that's that. - If people take it as motivation to buy the games then that's also something each individual decided for themselves too. It's not really comparable with the #unsubTB and #zerobiscuit because those were founded on misinformation, so anyone heeding them wouldn't have made an informed decision in practice.

gearbox is looking up this year
gearbox is looking up this year
nah. the fundamental problem with gearbox is money management and shady practices, not one shitty writer. and they'll keep doing shit like they did with colonial marines funding being put into more borderlands trash (which ended up being super unethical and a little illegal) and fucking over SEGA/other companies. all they have is borderlands and theyve still had reviews done by friends of the people working within company.
gearbox is still shady as fuck and one unimportant but loud person doesn't make an entire company better. please be smarter than this
I wasn't planning on a preorder, if the game releases and has no problems i don't think i'll be able to resist, though. As long as the shady shit isnt related to that game.

Him leaving does make buying HWR more pleasant.
I dont know, if it ends up being an incentive for some devs to stop behaving like jackasses I think it's worth it.
They can behave like jackasses all they like, they're only making fools of themselves. I don't want an industry where people are looking over their shoulders, wondering if what they say next will result in a smaller paycheck or loss of a job. Bear in mind I'm not saying people shouldn't own up to what stupid shit they said, what I'm getting at is that if they say stupid shit off duty, it shouldn't affect them professionaly, but if they do say stupid shit on the clock it should be up to us to alert their superiors and have them deal with it internaly. And that's where our reach should end, any more than this and it becomes extremly subjective.
Serious question, how the h*ck is this still going on? I was following from the beginning and did it for about 3 months then I stopped. I still check things occasionally but it seems nothing big has happened since the first MSM attacks. But I'm more impressed by how it still seems to be going as strong as before.
our hunt for removing women from video games will never stop
I found an article on my facebook (that I can't find) about 3 women who've had to endure harassment. This isn't gamergate but it's interesting to note the differences in coverage and where the harassment campaign came from. They are hunters and promote hunting. 1 woman is into 'bow hunting' especially and engages in clinics with kids to get them into hunting and archery. So are they being harassed by those dumb redneck misogynistic middle aged fat men? Of course not. It's "animal rights activists" to some degree but it seems to be fueled a lot more by some incredibly poorly informed individuals who are just immensely hostile towards hunting (but aren't vegetarian, nevermind vegan). And some of the disconnects "hunting is cruel, you should be skinned alive" are incredible to behold. The difference here is that nobody is accusing the "hunting community" of harassing these women, but they are being attacked online by random people, sometimes anonymously but often on facebook.
Hunters and Farmers have a lot of stigma from people who don't live in the country, it's been like that for awhile. Just like farmers and hunters cna be considered redneck, gamers can be considered things as well.

I'm a feminist who believes in anti-gg and is anti-hate/bullying. However, my gf is a strong defender of gg. The main thing that concerns me are the stories she's told me about how pro-gg supporters have not only been harassed online, but one man was doxxed and sent a knife to his house. Another pro-gg women's entire family was doxxed and she was sent a picture of herself covered in semen by anti-gg. These stories make me question my beliefs. Do you have any advice?
The thing about those stories is that they fall apart under the lightest scrutiny.
