Corruption in Gaming Journalism Discussion V2 - Back from the dead!

Honestly it's not nearly as bad as I expected, though some of the writing/VA is pretty cringey. Also hilarious that a story-based game has the story sold separately as DLC.
Students will reflect upon their own experience with gaming
See, that's what I meant earlier. What the fuck kind of 'reflection' is done in a controlled environment, collectively, with a set and expressed goal of 'understanding' the narrative. 'Reflection' is not the right word for it, I think they looked for 'indoctrination'.
4 years
4 devs
400,000$
Honestly I think something happened with development along the way that caused it to look like a ps1 game. With that kind of money they could have easily used something else for their game like Unity 4 or Unreal Engine 4.
Ok so I screencapped a shit ton of what she said (Anything important anyways) and I'm making an imgur album now.
Why?
What conceivable purpose does shit like this serve?
Does this stuff make sites want to include ethical policies? No? Then why the fuck are you wasting time doing it?

Well, I didn't watch the stream, I'm interested in short story.

I completely agree, there is a revolution 60 thread and this isn't it.
If you want to complain about it go there, here is not the place.

"Brianna Wu appeared in the chat. Wu said a few things in the chat. The stream ended."
Unless she spent the entire time flipping the fuck out about Area 51 or how vaccines gave her laser eyes, nothing she said will be that funny or interesting. Sounds like she was mostly talking about the game from what I've heard, not much else.
But a collection of chat snippets does what? Her being in that chat is about as relevant as the socks I'm currently wearing to this thread (black in case you needed to know). Remember what GamerGate is meant to be about? It's not collecting Brianna snippets, that's for sure.

I don't really give a fuck about how they use their time. I want to know why they think it's remotely relevant to the thread.

It's not like we have a lot of shit going on at this moment for everyone to actively engage in something. I agree though, that if Wu didn't really say anything at least of tangential interest of Gamergate, this should instead go to related thread.

It's funny or relevant if you make a few posts, but going completely off topic for almost 2 pages is silly and makes us look bad - specially for something incredibly petty like this. People seem to want to hijack this thread to talk about brianna wu's game when there's already a thread for it - it has very little relevancy other then she's anti-gg.
It's related to GG because if Brianna continues to ignore that there are a good chunk of people who want an actual conversation here, it shows- with evidence- that she's wilfully ignoring it.

For realsies, these people don't have to "self insert" themselves into the controversy because, unsurprisingly, the Internet is retarded and will just constantly divert their discussions to them for no apparent reason.
You guys could be using this thread to help organise drives to contact advertisers, set up or promote alternatives, actually discuss ethical policies and shit. Like the thread used to when shit was actually getting done. But from what I can see, a lot of GamerGate supporters are more happy to just sit in a circle talking about people who have little real importance to them getting shit done.

lets hijack the thread to hijack the thread that's talking about wu's game.
Now onto something more relevant, for the #gamergate funtimes read the second page.

This is a lesson plan that meets Common Core requirements, posted on a non-Common Core website. There is absolutely no evidence that students are being taught with this lesson plan.

Because it is.
Brianna wu is doing an open stream with us in about an hour.
The fact that feminism is getting pushed into K-12 programs at all is terrifying. Imagine your 7 year old son and daughter coming home from school. Your daughter calls you a misogynist and says she's afraid of being raped. Your son develops severe depression and anxiety because he's told he expresses "toxic masculinity." Simply horrifying.

Imagine seeing all this love and then still thinking it's a hate group, hopefully nobody screws it up.

There'll still unfortunately be idiots that think it was for attention.
Stream starting with KiA mod interviewing Mrs. Wu

Oh for CHRISTS sake.
I'm not even going to watch that, it's about her damn game - it's great she's talking but why should we care about her?! Do you even read the damn thread?
If you want a show-by-show play of the stream - "Your game was okayish." "I disagree" "Okay." "Why do you hate gamergate" "reasons we have heard a million times" "okay"

She isn't relevant to ethics in journalism, but relevant to GG. Some people, such as myself, use only this thread for not only journalism updates, but any gamergate related updates as well because it's always been a secondary function. I don't go on 4chan, 8chan, or reddit. Had it not been posted here, I would never have known about it and it's something I would like to see, not to be some dirt digging conspiracy theorist, but to see how she defends the criticisms of her game that we all have.
The list of things she said in chat WAS too far, but I think the link to the stream isn't a bad idea beings that a lot of people in here may be interested in it. So please, just take a step back, take a few breaths, and chill out for a minute.
Our only solace is this is another reason we can say Gawker is a shithole.
I can do you one better. It's another thing we can e-mail their advertisers about. We push to bring this to the adverts' attention and it'll put even more stress on Gawker's already strained ad revenue.
They're not just shooting themselves in the foot on this one, they are handing us the gun! Use it!
I do have some more Gawker Fail I grabbed today.
This article, was from a "Gadget Guide" website in the Gawker family. Let me ask you folks, what does any of this have to do with "Gadgets"? Nothing.
Yep. We're gonna look back at this and laugh about how ridiculous this shit was and how we were lead by the nose by some power and money-hungry scam artist "activists". Some damage will be done, but it'll be rolled back eventually.
I also can't wait to see what's going to happen to all of these activists when the utopia they were promised doesn't come within a few years. My guess? You're gonna see another Reagan situation where the radical activists become corporate yuppies, only this time they'll have more tattoos they'll be trying to cover up and internet pasts about how they're demigirl aromantic asexuals with short pink hair they'll be trying to scrub from the internet.
Not this time. As stated these people aren't actually progressives, they're capitalists already. One of the conerstone planks of progessivist platform is extremely equalized distribution of wealth; you've haven't heard word one about helping poor people do anything from the SJW camp, in fact you've pretty much heard the direct opposite courtesy of people like Kuchera, Gallant and Alexander. All they're going to do is move into government and politics and it'll be business as usual, the same cycle of corruption lauded as moral steadfastery we already have today.
Steam isn't a simple digital marketing platform, it's also an advertising platform, when something like your figurative bad game gets on the front page of steam it's taking up a valuable slot for a good game to be in. Every time a Shannon Tweed's Attack of the Groupies or a Desert Thunder game is released it pushes a good game off of the front page, which is a death sentence for some games.
You forget that there's barely three slots for "just released" left on that page, and really small. The huge "available now" ads are just for larger games (and quite possibly organic), and the longer list with new released is ordered by popularity.
More than 50% of the front page is filled based on what similar games you already play.
The "things get pushed off too quickly" point is utterly moot because the time a game appears in that tiny section is completely insignificant in the first place. You'd have to live under a rock to have not seen Valve explain that at length too..

Not when commenting on the ADL stuff, because that organization is basically pure harmful agenda-pushing afaik.
It's still silly to assume they'd actually get this stuff into schools in any widespread way. Teachers should be able to notice anything blatant like that easily, generally speaking, and I very much doubt many of them agree with doing that because it can be harmful to the children.

It's not happening.
Very few people would accept it and nobody would be able to get into a position of power to push it without repercussions.
also yeah it's basically the plot of a science fiction novel and frankly ridiculous
