So much for Reddit's corruption just being the fault of subreddit's administration...

Man...I dunno why but seeing a reddit offshoot sprout out of the ground like that feels really fucking weird. I can't explain it. I guess it's just really sudden.
Gamergate todo list:
-Pressure Games Journalists to better provide disclosure
-Stop journalists from introducing their own political biases in reviews
-Expose blatant nepotism
-Destroy all the pillars of the internet (4chan, Reddit, SA, etc)

I don't pay attention to reddit so I don't understand half of the stuff they are on about.
Can someone tell me what's going on? I know a group of Reddit people are moderators and that they are taking over reddit somehow.
Nice
Are we listening to the conspiracy theorists again?

Honestly couldn't have been posted under anything else that would have been a better example. It's been pages and pages of this shit, don't you think you have given her enough attention already?
I say the same shit and get dumbed and banned. Hypocrites, the lot of you. If I didn't already agree with the general idea behind GamerGate it'd be easy to be against this whole thing when you people act like this.

To be fair there's a difference between calm statements and ironic shit posts.
I don't think really it warranted a ban though, but considering the shit this thread has gone through I don't think craptasket feels like being nice. If he's even capable of being nice that is.
This thread's fixation with her is kinda amusing considering at the same time someone posted the Common Core stuff and it seemed to get less attention than her game. Is Facepunch's gamergate really about ethics? :^)

If you fail to see the difference between this and quotes from TotalBiscuit's essay on the topic, then I genuinely don't think your input is the sort that warrants attention.

Well you know what they say about broken clocks.
Well you know what they say about broken clocks.
That and it's important to note it's a conspiracy not started or "discovered" by them. The events are simply being recounted for the subreddit.

There's a follow up post right after that in which I explained my reasoning thoroughly. Are you stupid? Are the mods stupid?

For people supporting GamerGate, you guys are really fucking funny. On the one hand you claim all the SJWs are authoritarian and that they aren't really looking to be inclusive (but obviously you are), and on the other hand you'll focus on the decorations of a message (or even on who is the messenger, because obviously everything TotalBiscuit says is right) instead of its content. Instead of maybe seeing that what I'm saying makes sense, and that adding :^) to the end doesn't make it make any less sense, you decide that :^) totally means the entire message is invalid. How fucking retarded is that?

Because this guy adds a joke to the end of his every sentence it means that what he says here is invalid? What kind of logic is this?
There's a follow up post right after that in which I explained my reasoning thoroughly. Are you stupid? Are the mods stupid?
You didn't get banned for your follow up post.
Here is another post saying basically the same thing as you, notice how the user was neither banned for it or received a flood of dumbs?
You didn't get banned for your follow up post.
Ah, yes, because when banning someone context is irrelevant. It's nice to know mods here are autistic.
(User was banned for this post ("off-topic shitposting" - OvB))
and that adding :^) to the end doesn't make it make any less sense, you decide that :^) totally means the entire message is invalid. How fucking retarded is that?
It's being pointlessly flame-baity.

What you might try to downplay as "decoration" is context, an ironic shitpost carries a hostile tone and people will judge you as thus. Your message was valid, but that does not mean it was not with out error, this same problem exists with sjw's, they mean well but the way they wish to go bout their doings is wrong.
Being a smug ass about something still makes you a smug ass, doesn't matter if you're right. Infact it hampers a person's willingness to listen to the content of your message because of the hostility. This sort of deal was covered really early in gamergate, people tried to stop others from being asses because that doesn't get anything done.
I understand your frustration and the mods of facepunch can get over zealous at times, but you were not with out fault your self and being hostile about it wont get you anywhere. Move on.
we also suggest emailing advertisers or doing something far more of use instead of shitposting on internet forums.
You can say that for any sort of social issues. In real life, people tend to be quite moderate about issues overall. I've met some women that are pro-life, but they actaully don't give a toss if people get abortions. For them, being pro-life is just a small component of who they are instead of defining them.
Like, look at feminism. In the grand scheme of things, the shut-in teenage and adult white girls that make up extreme Tumblr feminism are actually a small minority compared to the rest of the world. A lot of the issues these types bring up are non-issues amongst the general population. You may have a few opportunistic politicians try to drum up some support for them, but at the end of the day nobody is going to care except the extremists themselves.
I look at social justice like I would any sort of entertainment; there are a few diehards that can make an entire group look bad. It can apply to anything, whether it's a guy willing to start a fight over a sports team they love and have a ton of memorabilia for, someone writing a 1,000-word screed that has a death threat or two as a responce to a minor Battlefield patch, or an immature woman in her 20s ready to start World War III over there not being enough female Oscar nominees.
Vigilance is still required though. The fact that nearly the entire games media dived into it means the SJ nutters are still significant enough to be a problem. That said, as long as GG continues as it has been it will simply be a matter of time before these people are completely exposed. No need for alarm imo.

Holy shit. SRS really do think that the average person agrees with them or even cares about what they think. They are in for a surprise.
When will these people learn what the streisand effect is.
Interestingly, the only thing I started doing tab checks on Gamergate is due to that enormous thread in /r/gaming which had almost 14k posts in a single day (!) and all of them were deleted (!!!).
Sounded suspicious to me, so I started doing a fair bit of research and well here I am.
I don't pay attention to reddit so I don't understand half of the stuff they are on about.
Can someone tell me what's going on? I know a group of Reddit people are moderators and that they are taking over reddit somehow.
First: a quick summary of how subreddit mods vs. global mods works:
On reddit, subreddits have their own subreddit-owner-chosen moderators separate from the global moderators. Subreddit moderators police their own subreddit's rules inside the subreddit, and global moderators remove all blatantly-illegal content like piracy/CP anywhere in addition to stepping in when drama gets too hot. Subreddit moderators are subject to corruption as normal people picked by friends to police their little section of the site, but the global mods are supposed to be incorruptible by subreddits' interests.
The gist of what happened is, the subreddit moderators for SRS are shadowy, manipulative motherfuckers who want the entire site to change to their whims, and who turned SRS from a parody subreddit into a cult of sorts. But they didn't just stop at shitting up their own subreddit with manipulation and censorship, and now they're pretty much trying to control all of reddit, piece-by-piece.
It got exposed in the archive link's quoted reddit comment that the SRS moderators are not only causing problems in their own subreddit via rampant cronyism and censorship, but are also attacking and attempting to censor other subreddits who try to talk shit about them. They're even being handed control over other subreddits by the global moderators for no good reason, and seem to be buddies with said global moderators behind the curtain. Sound familiar, like anyone we've known for 6 months now?
In response to this reveal being posted, the account that posted the comment was banned, the comment was deleted to keep it from being seen, and even the corruption-exposure subbreddit "/r/metaredditcancer" said account mentioned had all its moderators global-banned for no reason. Now the subreddit has no moderators at all, and it's very likely that the global mods are going to hand over control to the SRS mods yet again, proving the corruption that was pointed out while also scrubbing it from public view. Again, eerily familiar to the shit we've been dealing with for half a year.
And now, it looks like someone is trying to form a temporary/permanent neo-reddit in response to being unable to escape censorship on any part of reddit. It's looking to turn into another "4chan vs. 8chan" scenario if this keeps blowing up, with many users migrating to the new reddit and the ignorant/uncaring/etc. remaining on the old reddit.
I don't quite understand how a subreddit went from mocking Reddit to becoming a parody of itself
I don't quite understand how a subreddit went from mocking Reddit to becoming a parody of itself
Isolation and Poe's Law.
I enjoy me a good conspiracy and drama in the morning, this shit about reddit looks like an early next year's Christmas present to me.
And I don't believe a word of it, it sounds retarded and overly dramatic. Don't know any reason for banning the 'watchdog' sub, but the request by SRS party is only logical - who wouldn't want to mod a sub created to 'expose' your shadowy dealings, for satirical reasons if nothing else? SRSers are retarded, there certainly is a degree of collusion existing there, but taking over the reddit for agenda? Give me a break.
Anything before proven fact I basically don't really trust on this thread - in a space of speculation and discussion this type of thing is bound to happen.

To add to this, the person requesting access to this subreddit has moderator status in 184 subreddits. He explains it away thusly:
Eh, most of them are dead or were made for a one-off joke. If you were to pare it down to active subreddits with any real community it'd drop to ~30. And if you were to removed subs from that list that were stupid and require no moderation (like /r/catseatingpasta) then it'd probably be closer to 20. It's really manageable, especially since I don't mod any of those subs by myself.
My eyes are rolling out of their sockets.
Also, as outlined in the /r/conspiracy post, /r/metaredditcancer was reformed at /r/subredditcancer by the same people.

i really feel like this is a bigger issue with the reddit formula than KIA's fault specifically. I like that they will try to find a way to fix it though. copying 8chan's gen discussion sticky where eceleb shit is allowed is probably the best solution, imo, or just doing a separate subreddit.
I'd have moved to voat already but voat looks just as shady and we have nowhere near the same kind of info about voat as we did with 8chan.
