For non-Canucks, the CRTC is the Canadian version of the FCC.

It looks damning, except that the review came before all these tweets. This may call for some investigation, but this doesn't mean a lot on its own. There's no record here of prior communication, just Wu ass-kissing after the review.

Hmm...
They should switch to demanding and actually clean up greenlight. I've never heard of devs giving keys for greenlight votes but that is just exploiting an already broken system.
I just realized, Gamergate has been around for half a year. Isn't that crazy?
And I'm still as furious as ever.
In fact, I feel as if I'm feeling more resent towards my fellow liberals every day, which isn't a nice thing.
I used to think that anyone who even mentioned the name '3rd wave feminism' was looking too deep into it and was a wacko, now I believe I've become one of those people. What a bizarre change in ideology.
[editline]10th February 2015[/editline]
And I don't think I'm the only one either. Virtually everyone I know personally has made that shift as well, both liberal and conservative alike. I'm thinking that there's going to be a massive backfire on the whole feminist movement from how many of them are acting. It's not going to matter if it's just a loud minority, they're still alienating other liberal-minded people from the group as a whole - and mind you, nearly every conservative in this country already hates feminists.
When the amount of people who'll refuse to work with you starts reaching well over 50%, you're going to start having issues.

You should REALLY think about how it looks to a conservative, such as myself. We've spent years and years seeing stuff like this building and building behind the scenes, but god forbid we say anything and be called a conspiracy nut, sexist, racist, or any other insult designed to shut down conversation. It's actually quite hilarious watching people fight the very strategies and media they've used against conservatives for so long. Hell, when they started calling GGers "right wingers", I choked on what I was drinking because the vast majority of GGers are very left wing.
I just find it all funny from my point of view.

Oh how this fits GG, although some of you might cringe that it was made by Rush Limbaugh:

I always thought that there's one advantage to being a freak: you can occasionally speak the absolute truth. No one would believe a word and it will be written off as insanity, but at least you've said the truth.

I don't see the big deal about what political stance a site or news related company takes. It just makes the people pointing it out look silly; like "how dare these people have a different opinion than me!". Every side has their own cringey factor, but making it the main focus is just silly.

I see a big deal about it. Due to the nature of political/ideological stances people take, it serves to form an echo-chamber. As far as my opinion goes, as a journalist, the only true pluralism is when one news outlet presents multiple points of view, otherwise every media piece forms its audience and shields them from other opinions. As a result, people of certain beliefs form this separated group, read one kind of paper, watch one kind of TV channels, browse one kind of news sites etc. These groups become divided from one another, entrenched in their opinions, whatever they are.
In an ideal world, media piece should work for one agenda - informing people about the world and multitude of opinions that exist out there, promoting a healthy discussion between people of various political opinions. Instead, any particular group has an ultimate weapon of defense against other opinions - "YOU ARE A CONSERVATIVE NUTJOB! I SHOULDN'T LISTEN TO YOU", "YOU ARE JUST A BRAINWASHED LIBERAL! FUCK YOU!" etc.

I'm always hesitant to put a label on myself like conservative or liberal because of how I can't see how it wouldn't be doing me a disservice. I can't shake the feeling that if I went around saying "I'm a conservative! I believe in X!" or "I'm a socialist! I believe in Y", then I would get people saying "Oh, do you now? Then you must also believe in Z!" where Z is something commonly associated with the label but is something I vehemently disagree with. In the end I find labels such as that being more misrepresentative than representative.
But I'm getting off-topic. Have some TB. Start at the bottom. The fact that he's enjoying success in the face of the flak he gets from these people is wonderful.

Nice to see he's taking it so well. Must be nice to be able to occasionally laugh in the face of such hatred.
>SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — A $111,000-a-year San Francisco water manager will likely be suspended after he was seen urinating in a reservoir that supplies drinking water to nearly 2.5 million Bay Area residents.
>The San Francisco Chronicle reports Public Utilities Commission employee Martin Sanchez could receive a five day suspension without pay after the Jan. 6 incident took place at the Priest Reservoir in the Sierra foothills.

Don't forget how Encyclopedia Dramatica has become a more reliable source than people that claim to be journalists :v:
Encyclopedia dramatica has actually always been pretty damn reliable if you look past the deliberately inflammatory and over the top commentary, always surprises me the amount of stuff they manage to dig up
So last night, I lost a friend- he'd introduced me to TotalBiscuit, and from that I suppose he'd started a path that would lead me to supporting GamerGate. I want to put this up in his memory (he was always a fan of stuff like Hearthstone and Starcraft):

As long as it stays factual: Why not?
It's not like GG can get any more allegedly conservative.
You know I think I see how Anita got her followers, I was watching one of her videos on tropes in television and was like, "Ya! I get it, this all actually makes sense!"
Then I realized that I had no way of knowing whether or not she was accurate or not, because I've only watched 5-6 shows my entire life, due to me getting into video games and computers since I was a small child due to my dad also being a computer nerd. At that moment I realized I had momentarily accepted her arguments not just because she made me believe she knew what she was talking about but also because she made me believe I also had an intimate understanding of television tropes.
So maybe the reason we call her out on her crap so easily and readily is because we are heavily experienced in gaming, and her supporters are only casually experienced. Of course this would assume that all anti-gg are casually experienced in games, which they aren't in certain cases (Extra Credits, Jim Sterling)
Sorry for the idle ramblings, but I like to get into other people's heads and really understand their points of view, and I've found you guys are great at bouncing ideas back at me.

Well that's part of it.
The other part is "lazy viewer syndrome". Basically, these people assume that the person sending out the message has done thorough research, and therefore could not be wrong. Therefore, they don't double check any claims made.

To see this phenomenon to an even greater extreme, look at all of the people who started believing that 9/11 was an inside job after seeing Loose Change.
To see this phenomenon to an even greater extreme, look at all of the people who started believing that 9/11 was an inside job after seeing Loose Change.
It's actually the same phenomenon when you look at both of them.
It starts off with a single snowflake. This could be one conspiracy, one world view, one piece of out of context information. This single snowflake starts the snowball effect.
It starts off with confirmation bias taking over. This is extremely easy with the internet. You can find a source somewhere to confirm your point of view or your bias on a subject.
It then continues with the questionable cause logical fallacy, usually in the form of assuming correlation implies causation. This is amplified by their state of mind and world view, meaning not only do they not see the logical fallacy they are building their opinion on, but in some instances will actually refuse to acknowledge the fallacy when it's shown to them.
After that, more people start getting involved. When this happens, it creates an echo chamber of sorts, where people who are able to go through the illogical hoops to enter the mindset are accepted, and those who can't get past the logical fallacies or can't get in the same mindset are blasted for being stupid, bigoted, or less advanced. This forms a shield against criticism and allows illogical ideas to spread and grow. Confirmation bias grows and circular arguments start to become widespread.
Once a large enough base is created, people start wanting to branch out because they believe their message is of utmost importance. They start pushing their ideals out into the world, and that's when lazy viewer syndrome takes over. There are so many layers between what the public sees and the starting snowflake that wading through the various barriers to reach that starting snowflake becomes an almost impossible task if you don't have the resources of a university.
The difference in most cases, is all in the name under which the movement goes. The name is what determines it's credibility to the average person. A 9/11 truther or sandy hook conspiracy isn't going to be seen as having as much credibility as the Feminist movement, because the Feminist movement has already been successful and already has credibility. Therefore, people are more willing to accept what the Feminist movement says without fact checking than what a conspiracy movement says without fact checking.
All of this creates a large ball of misinformation and the illusion that what's being said is factual and based on evidence. I'm not saying that all information is false, but it makes it easy to push false information without being fact checked.
I don't know if you guys saw this but I chuckled.
