For my taste they're jumping to conclusions too quickly. Also a few statements are simply wrong, like McIntosh saying that Charlie Hebdo "deserved" it.
He heavily implied it, but you're right that it's a bad idea to imply he said that as such.

This is a bit of a shame since I like Notch, but it's upsetting that a guy so close to gamers fails to realise that Gamergate is not and has never been about harassment but simply trying to stop people being dickheads.
Notch is a very shallow person in some regards, for example he almost never does any investigation into the background of why things are the way they are if he has an opinion.
He also loves to throw his weight around regarding social and political issues once in a while, and unlike Total Biscuit he doesn't take the impact he has through his financial success into account much.
This is a bad combination, but most of the time nothing bad happens because he's sincerely trying to make a positive impact.
It's a bit like with that one Hollywood star who does a lot of endorsements for political things but also endorsed Kony2012 without looking into it enough.
Overall I'd say I like him, but I don't have too much respect for him since he's often negligent.

Here's a snappy and well written critique of Feminist Frequency written by Milo. Nicely done.

Let's be honest, how many people here refreshed the page before understanding Milo's point? For me, it took 3 or 4 refreshes.

I opened this in a browser on my phone and distracted and thought the site was broken and tried for ages to get it to display properly. Only realized after checking again on my desktop. Goddamnit.
Also, after comparing the PC Master Race to nazism, they take news from r/pcmasterrace and lie about the source, claiming that polygon "verified" some random dude's emails who has no idea what they're talking about.

reddit threads with more info:
For those that don't know, a pcmasterrace user emailed the Hotline Miami 2 devs and got the "just pirate it" response, the email was first posted on that subreddit.
PC Gamer writer Tyler Wilde had argued that the label PC masterrace had stopped being a meme, comparing it to Nazism
Despite not even citing sources, it cites them wrong, the article states it was verified by Polygon, despite Polygon not even contacting the email author
From /u/FEED_ME_SMEGMA
>I'm reading all of these! The article claimed that the email was "verified by Polygon." So uh, thanks for verifying my personal emails, Polygon.
is this real?
I'm writing a report for one of my classes on conspiracies, and censorship. I've chosen gamer gate to be my topic, and I'm wondering if anyone has a handy info dump I could use for references, and content.
I.e any summaries, examples of corruption, People going #FullMcIntosh
Thanks
they are sony fanboys
they are already the most hated thing in gaming

Oh my god the Playstation community (so NeoGAF and GameFAQs) beat Sonic? That's hilarious.

The GG wiki has a bunch of useful information:

Timeline of GG related events shows off a lot of examples of bad and corrupt journalism:

Most of you know about the endless torrent of "toxic masculinity" posts out there, especially from #FullMcintosh and co.?
Here is an article (link to cited study inside) that talks about how saying people are "broken" in any sense damages your sense of empathy for them and their condition.
People talking about "toxic masculinity" outside of an academic setting are likely hurting the perception of men around the world OVER FUCKING VIDEO GAMES.

because sony is the only one who loves them back
I got this somewhere on KIA, I looked up his twitter and though not looking through it all of what he said (incase one tweet is fake, but unlikely), he said some of the stuff alright.

I feel like we're at the cusp before the fall of Rome.
I wonder how long they can keep this up. Sooner or later their lies and bullshit will catch up with them.
Also quality journalism: "Gamergate is harassment because these people who embody everything Gamergate stands against say so!"
remember to follow the PC master race curator group
they have 95,000 people, PC gamer has 160,000

This surely cant be real ,is PR and protocol no longer a thing at media outlets?
how long
Not really.
Western media, particularly Uk and US has completely desensitized the public to political scandal and maneuvering.
Mitt Romney said that almost half the country wants to be a welfare state and will never vote for a "real business and government leader", he was almost elected president; Obama talked shit about "religious reactionaries and their guns" and he was elected president.
"Their lies and bullshit" are literally de rigueur to the political narrative and over the last month, gamergate has become pretty much 100% political.
Intel isn't going to re-evaluate their spending spree and Sarkeesian isn't going to be openly criticized for blatant dishonestly until well after she's out of the political sphere and already laughed her way to the bank, and no one will give a shit except internet pundits.
Looking for recompense now for the things stated and done over the last year and well before is much akin to getting your money back from Bernie Madoff; it ain't happening.
What you can expect is more direct vigilance to current or future events, and some pretty predictable court appearances that will be pled out and NDA'd anyway. Chelsea Van Valkenberg getting wrist-slapped on perjury means jack shit to a level designer out on their ass because of a blacklist anyway.
The organizations backing these people do not give any kind of shits about interpersonal moral rectitude, they care about achieving agendas they feel are "for the greater good" regardless of who gets fired or silenced or fucked in the meantime. (as long as it isn't them)
You think McCarthy apologized to all the writers and actors and media people he got fired/shunned/imprisoned, who lost their ability to do the meaningful work they loved thereafter? Do you think the studios and guilds rehired those people wrongfully accused?

Jesus Christ. It just gets worse and worse as time goes on.
Surprised IGN's God Hand review wasnt mentioned for "Poor Journalism". The guy didnt past the first stage and slammed it because it was too hard for him, giving it a 3/10 and then i'm fairly sure the guy after him tried to review it and also couldnt get past the first stage for the same reasons.
I do remember the Gamespot Kane and Lynch thing though. That was a... confusing game.

when it comes to twitter, they usually hide behind shit like "my tweets don't represent my employers! ;)" or they'll just delete the tweets and pretend they never happened
like that one writer for a boston newspaper who told a female gamergate supporter that he hoped her kind would get genocided. after he deleted those tweets and claimed they were faked, people found old tweets that had very significant amounts of racism and disdain for the middle east, which he promptly deleted as soon as they were discovered. guy still has his job.

maybe sometime in the future once the economic depression/post-9/11 apathy wears off people will get mad about shit like this
right now hotwheels is trying to get someone on /gamergate/ to translate a message explaining gamergate to 2ch users and why their servers keep getting DDOS'd.
https://t.co/e7LqGbjpSm
it's gonna be posted here since hotwheels has a special 2ch admin capcode:
http://fox.2ch.net/poverty/
2ch /poverty/ was involved in yellow journalism before GG
http://roninworksjapan.tumblr.com/post/102000265691/otaku-war-japan-2channel-and-gamergate
Apparently ABC deleted a whole bunch of comments with 2k+ likes from the nightline video
How surprising, I am shocked they didnt disable the comments yet
they'll just delete the ones which are against the video and make sense and then address the GG rant ones and the 'hundreds of supporters' who commented in favour. it bolsters their narrative in the eyes of the undecided and uninformed.
Eurogamer joining in on the party, looks like journalists are on the offensive again.

Another Gamers Are Dead round? Except now it's PC Gamers Are Dead?
PC Gamers Are Nazis.
im sure intel would love that

It makes sense. They're probably trying to divide and conquer us by inciting fanboy hate.
well good luck with that...I imagine most people who are into gaming big are pc gamers. Even the people I didn't expect to be seems to be more into PC than consoles.

It's getting cheaper and cheaper to get a rig that can play games. People can easily play tons and tons of great older games on crappy laptops and platforms like Steam make it super convenient. It also helps that there are plenty of popular F2P titles and we have the best ESports scenes. We're getting more couch co-op games too, which has long been the major divide between PC and console gaming in my eyes.
Also lets not forget that 90% of the indie games that get a lot of coverage are on PC.
also, prediction: assuming this whole dumb tone police crusade keeps going on, I have a feeling the nearest and next target is the usage of the term 'races' in many fantasy works to describe different sentient species living together.
I have a feeling someone's going to write an article about how making different species act differently while also being of human-level intelligence is the product of a racist mind and works to keep institutional racism a thing.
just watch, gonna call for the death of dwarves and elves as a means of stamping out racism out of the fantasy community
I suppose these thickskulled people can't understand that it's ok to be different and acknowledge that as long as you don't shame them for it.
