Yeah. Right around the corner?
Are you delusional or just really fucking stupid?
I seriously wanna know.
Great, I'm gonna need 2 strength augments, a speed augment, and advanced gun training.
I'm making an action movie.
I doubt we'll see nanotech being used in humans for a long time yet - it's still a fledgeling field of science at best right now.
On the other hand, I think we can realistically expect mechanical prosthetics and computerised implants within the next couple of decades. Afaik, basic versions of these technologies already exist but are insufficiently advanced and too expensive for mainstream use. So in Deus Ex terms, we'll probably get Jensen long before we get Denton. :v
Yeah, it will change everything...

Corporations will have more power than governments, etc etc...
After seeing ghost in the shell..I'd rather not have my eyes hacked so i see commercials (and spam) everywhere.

I cannot wait to put magnets in my skin.

Soon enough them. Right now corps have a bit less power than government, but since government likes money, corps get to rule.
Good and bad sides too that really.

Someone's already did that, actually, to themself and in their own bathroom too.

I'm going to get augmented vision.
Someone needs to develop some kind of thing that makes you not die when driving on a motorcycle without a helmet, that's shit is so fucking cash but I'm scared to do it for more than 100 meters V:v:V.

Meet metamaterials.
And what will having an invisible coating over your skin do, other than make you simply appear naked? It's the material that makes it invisible, so if the entire object is not composed of that material, it's not useful. Glass may be near-invisible, but you can't wear a glass suit and become see-through.
HDMI socket in my neck so I can plug my games right into my head.
also a jack for my ears.
The only possible type of augmentation I would have put in would be some sort of tiny headphones inside my ears that could link up to my Ipod or whatever MP3 player I would own without any wires. Plus being able to block out all sound.
Would improve my everyday life a bit.
Meh. I think people are too excited by the novelty of having their gear with them all the time. Currently you can carry around a pair of earbuds, and when they break, you can replace them for a couple bucks. What do you do when the surgically implanted version starts rusting or failing? We're talking major invasive brain surgery with significant risk of infection or other damage (not to mention a HUGE bill), for a minimal increase in convenience.
oh my god jc a bomb

Easier to fix than a eye astigmatism, or retina damage from EM exposure or diabetes.
What do you look forward to the most in the future? Right now I'm really looking forward to something that is right around the corner, human augmentation. In particular, human augmentation through nanotechnology. I'm talking about nanotechnology upgrades similar to that in Deus Ex and other science fiction works. Nanotechnology is the wave of the future and it will allow you to become a better, stronger, faster, and smarter human being. This won't just stop at improving our existing abilities, it will give us new abilities that you can hardly fathom, such as invisibility. What do you think of augmenting humans, be it through mechanics, nanotechnology, or any other means?

better, stronger, faster
Is it bad that I immediately thought of Daft Punk? :v:

Something like Project Spartan II. Aka the project in the HALO universe that created Master Chief. Specifics here. Except it would be a little safer, hopefully.

she's at a high risk of heavy metal poisioning or some other form of metal toxicity from those magnets btw
If humanity is to survive and prosper we must do this, if luddites refuse to then they will be left to rot in the filth.

It's fine, she coated it in hot glue :v:
Really though, she knows the risks, encountered the hazards, she's had plenty of chances to stop and she's chosen to keep experimenting on herself, and I respect her for it.
And instead of dying we will merge with Helios.

Actually I want this to happen too...
Dick augmentation
If scientists working with nanotubes are able to make it replicate itself much faster, we would have an endless supply of materials to do whatever we want with, because nanotubes naturally replicate themselves, and stop only when the replication process is stopped. Too bad the biggest strand that has been made so far is only a few centimeters.
Oh shit
Well its still related
Also, I hope I can have the power to keep awaken myself or go to sleep when I feel like it
Or hallucinate
That would be p. cool
Or if I could not feel pain
If you couldn't feel pain, what if you developed a serious infection or get internal injuries? You would just drop dead suddenly. nanotubes that have powerful painkillers that would release when you get injured severly would be great, but scientists are making this gel pad that can heal even severe injuries very quickly.
