it'd be nice [editline]15th May 2011[/editline] wtf is with the spinney icon? at the bottom
Imagine how awesome it would be having an arm wrestle with someone. Maximum Strength
Human Augmentation through drugs. Lots and Lots of drugs.
I just want some kind of painless seamless reversible alternative to surgery I just want to try how it is to be a girl, just try, and then easily have it all reversed again, like some kind of microbot swarm swimming around in my body changing me depending on subtle electrical charges. Also i am not into boys, and i dont crossdress
Would replacing all my hair with cactus spines be considered human augmentation? If so, I'm interested.
I VANTED A SKULL GHUN. /c
It would be pretty cool. But then you have people who can't afford it and then people will never be hired for good jobs because they don't have brain or muscle augmentations. We have a long time to go before any augmentations happen so we'll worry about that when it comes to it.
What a shame.
I might do some sort of Nanotechnology in Uni.
I don't think human augmentation Nano Tech is "right around the corner". I call bullshit on the invisibility part.
I might do some sort of Nanotechnology in Uni.
I'm definitely going for Nanotech at university (which is next year fuck everything is going too fast), going for industrial nanotechnology though so not much human augmentation there.
This has always been one of my favorite genres of scifi mainly because I can actually see it happening in my lifetime. I'm looking forward to something that allows for brain uploading thus granting my virtual immortality.
But it wont be you.
Close enough.
I'm very very concerned about the scope for misuse of such technologies; especially with the US govt. imagine them delivering "democracy" to places invisibly
I got a titanium hip, way ahead of all you bony hip people. Getting my second one by the end of summer maybe. :smug: Not quite augmentation, but still. Fucking titanium man. Stuff they make the shuttles out of.
actually it's tungsten
As long as apple doesn't get into this business. I don't fancy losing the ability to speak if someone touches me. /sarcasm
does op tell me i can fly?
I was born as a human, I will die as a human.
I don't really see the point in getting invisibility, all I need to do is get heat vision and I could see you perfectly clear. [editline]17th May 2011[/editline]
I was born as a human, I will die as a human.
Extra emphasis on the "die". I don't understand this romanticised view of being human, it's really not that great to be honest.
Extra emphasis on the "die". I don't understand this romanticised view of being human, it's really not that great to be honest.
You can feel and love. Things that I will never, ever give away to get a robotic arm or superhuman strength.
If this ever goes mainstream, I want to replace everything that's possible to replace in my body with prosthetics except for the brain. Only if the prosthetics are better than the original organs/limbs though, I don't want arms with barely any control over them. Edit: Edit2:
You can feel and love. Things that I will never, ever give away to get a robotic arm or superhuman strength.
Why would you have to give them away? It's your brain that takes care of your personality or feelings, and you're not gonna get it removed/altered when connecting artificial limbs to the nervous system. Maybe you'll get some brain implants to control the prosthetics, but that won't change your personality or "who you are" at all.
Why wouldn't you be able to feel and love?
True, in this case when my brain is not touched... Anyway, I just don't feel comfortable about the idea of combining humans with machines. It doesn't just feel right in any way. I think that we shouldn't be changed, we were born this way. This is the opinion of majority, just saying.
old men running the world a new age
People go out of power for more reasons than just death. Many young ones rebel against the the ways of their elders for no reason other than to give things a good shake up and see what falls out. As long as more people come into existence, things should change albeit at a slower pace. I'm not too concerned though. Either the old will get Alzheimer's from their brain cells slowly dying or they will go through artificially induced pubertyesque periods of neurogenesis where their minds return to the state of teenagers and everything they used to be they consider childish and go against. As long as people keep their brains healthy, things should change good enough.
I want my nipples to dispense water.
Why don't you go tell people who where born blind or people with disabilities that we are "born this way"
That would be an expection, but why would healthy person get a new arm when there is people without an arm who really need an artificial limb? Why enhance something which is already good enough? Think about it.
That would be an expection, but why would healthy person get a new arm when there is people without an arm who really need an artificial limb? I'm looking forward to neural implants and artificial organs. Eternal life please
