Well if it's being enhanced that kind of implies that the original was inferior.
Of course the quality of human body depends on the person.
What you eat, how much you work out and do sports etc.
Sure, there are limits but I'm happy with natural human body.
It's a matter of taste.
I got a titanium hip, way ahead of all you bony hip people. Getting my second one by the end of summer maybe.
:smug:
Not quite augmentation, but still. Fucking titanium man. Stuff they make the shuttles out of.
What I don't like is the fact that such views may prevent those who do want augmentation from getting it on the basis of baseless ethics.
Robotic arm or invisibilty sounds nice...
Robotic arm or invisibilty sounds nice...
I doubt invisibility would be made available, it essentially encourages crime.
True, but you could say the same about guns, as you could use them for killing someone, yet they are legal (not saying they are legal everywhere in the world, or that everyone thinks about using them for killing, but you get the point)

Guns allow for self defence and to be honest pose a much smaller threat than an invisible enemy.
But not everyone who is invisible is automatically an enemy, just like someone with a gun isn't.
But not everyone who is invisible is automatically an enemy, just like someone with a gun isn't.
I just think it would make peace keeping a hell of a lot harder, at least with guns you can trace a bullet back to it's owner (assuming they bought it legally)
Even though I'm all for augmentation, there's always the problem of malfunctioning hardware
I'll let this nawlz strip explain it all:

Your organs and muscles can malfunction too. Organics aren't running stable all the time either.
Your organs and muscles can malfunction too. Organics aren't running stable all the time either.
I know, but with augmentations the malfunctions can be much more devastating than with regular organs or muscles. I'm not talking about a case of the prosthetic powering down and going limp, just doing something it isn't supposed to do because of a software or hardware error. Say you have a super-strong prosthetic arms and you want to shake hands with a friend. Suddenly your hand malfunctions and you crush his hand (or your dick when having a wank like the comic was implying).

If that happens, your friend can get an augmentation too. I guess you could get augmented dick too.
Soon I will be harder better faster stronger

Why would I have a prosthetic capable of breaking bone that easily in the first place? If you're going to be using equipment like that you're going to want to use something suited for the job, that is, light, durable and safe.
Don't know if this was posted before, but this was just released as a Deus Ex HR promo:

I genuinely believe that we'll be seeing similar 'commercials' in a few decades. I really think that after the information revolution that came with the internet, the augmentation revolution is next in line.
don't you think the OP is a little lacking? he should put some pics about human augmentation or whatever...
If my arm gets cut off some how, and I have to get a robot one;
Fuck that synthetic shit, I want a FUCKING ROBOT ARM.
I wanna be able to punch people and send their asses to the moon.
I want it to look all mechanical and bad-ass.
Fuck you all and your synthetic medical breakthroughs, robot arms are fucking cool.

Also so I can say:
"FEAR MY KUNG-FU GRIP ASSHOLES!"
And mean it.

I hope you either have better reasons as well or that you're a good bit down the list for any prosthetic that could actually hurt someone.
Don't get me wrong, it would be pretty funny to yell falcon punch and knock someone halfway down a corridor, but I would hate to see restrictions on it because of dumb asses trying to recreate a scene out of Atomic-Robo or something.
Well I mean I wouldn't cut my own arm off for one.
That would hurt.
ALOT.
I've just always wanted a mechanical arm to show off.
Of course if it was my right arm I'd be afraid I'd loose all muscle memory due to the fact that probably 95% of the thing won't have nerves.
So there goes my drawing ability. :|
I think I'll keep my fleshy boring right arm for now.
What's the point in having a augmented arm if it isn't strong, that's just pointless.
If I were to get anything done, even a RFID tag, it's certainly going on the left arm.

Being a walking tribute to human progress would be good enough for me, plus think about how it would feel, all the senses in that arm would be entirely different; you'd perceive the same old things differently and could wire things up to the arm to detect other shit.
Imagine being able to see out of your arm, disorientating and strange you'd agree, but even just the angle would give you a different outlook (oops, a pun), never mind that cameras can pick up things like IR light that human eyes cannot.

If it doesn't improve anything it isn't progress. Increased strength is kind of an expectation when it comes to augmented arms.

It improves the patient's understanding of the world around them, a millions times more valuable than being able to kill more brain cells when you knock someone out.

Increased strength has more uses than punching people.
Not from just an arm replacement, heavy lifting and shit like that would require work done on your back muscles, spine and legs too, a forklift would be a better idea.
I'm going to walk around with an electromagnetic pulse thing in my backpack
fuck all of you

Well I doubt robot arms would be all that light (at least if you want them to be useful) so you'd probably need the work done on your back any way
I'm going to walk around with an electromagnetic pulse thing in my backpack

I will slap you via flailing my limp arm.

You're going to knock everyone's iphones and shit out as well, that's not good :saddowns:
What in the name of automerge...
