Going back to the "is vs. are" regarding bands, I know that technically it's "are," but I am of the opinion that a (good) band should be considered a singular entity, composed of individual members. Much like an organism, you don't refer to an object with "are," even though it's technically made of many smaller units. I feel the same way about a band. It's a single entity made of individual members, like a person is a single entity made of individual cells. So I personally prefer referring to a band with "is," such as "Scar Symmetry is an amazing band." Though that also may be partially explained because I personally believe that if any member of a (good) band changes, it will be noticeable, and it won't feel like the same band. I'm a real stickler for that kind of thing. That's why I tend to refer to bands like Megadeth, which constantly changes members, with "are," in complete juxtaposition to everything I said above. When I say "Megadeth are a great band," I'm really saying "Dave Mustaine and associates at this particular contextual timeframe are a great band." :v:
