Ok after reading up on it, I've figured out how to do at least attempt to growl without tasting blood. Now if I could growl for more than 2 seconds without running out of air...

How do I prevent my vocal chords from getting sore, other than drinking water and taking breaks? Everyone says breathing technique is what matters, but how would a different breathing technique help when the air has to pass to vocal chords anyway?

After looking even more into it, I've found that there is no reason to growl that loud. It will just put unnecessary strain on me, and I won't be able to hold the growl for so long. Since I'm supposed to growl into a mic, I don't need to be very loud.

The thing isss

Growling requires a technique which if you do wrong you can do permanent damage to your throat. It's not unheard of for harsh vocalists to damage their voices.

This is a definite thing to remember

Technically growling often SOUNDS louder than talking, but you shouldn't ever force it to be louder. That's where a lot of people damage their throat even if they have technique.
