that's what I'm fuckin talking about
Did I just see a positive post?
Man, metal has gotten so boring to me. Everything is beginning to sound the same to me, and whenever somebody goes THIS DOESN'T SOUND THE SAME it's just the same old E fueled shit or some progressive crap with an enormous acoustic intro and an off time signature main riff. Why can't I find anything original anymore? And why is drop D chugging the main basis of metal anyway, you can be aggressive in other ways then just doing the same thing everybody has been doing for the last 20 years

I'm pretty sick of new bands trying to be Meshuggah or Suicide Silence or something. Those are great hopes to live up to but the thing is we don't really need another clone of those bands. There's a bunch already. Find a new sound.
I dont think I could've worded it better than SilverHammer. All of these new djent bands aren't thinking out of the box, for example Peripehry. Hate me if you want, all I hear is the same thing that Meshuggah does.
Yup I agree There's no real progression being made anymore. Honestly it's all the same shit
Thankfully I don't care. That same shit still sounds awesome to me. While most melodeath bands may use the same chord progressions, bands still seem to find new ways to throw the progressions together, not to mention every instrument added is another layer of potentially new permutations. There may not be nearly as much progression as there was when the genre was first birthed, but I think it'd be a far cry to call it completely stagnant. There are still new bands that, if not trying things that are really new, are at least throwing together existing elements in new ways. As long as there are new bands that continue to do that, melodeath will never really die for me. :colbert:

you gotta just keep searching harder
Stop your complaining. I just want to see a band live. :smith:
Come live near me, we get about 7-8 good concerts on the cheap every year at a club near my place (already saw there: dragonforce, turisas, destruction, warbringer, pitch black, evile, dark tranquillity, insomnium and prayers of sanity)
You can't find anything original because you don't even bother to look, you just sit back and bitch about it.
you can't say LOOK FOR IT without giving me any indication on how or where if anything that just solidifies my point
you can't say LOOK FOR IT without giving me any indication on how or where if anything that just solidifies my point
You haven't given much indication of what you want in the first place.
You haven't given much indication of what you want in the first place.
well that's why you tell me where i should look so i can find one
...or you could listen to something other than melodeath
That's my point. When melodeath is dead and done then I will move on. But until it is, I'll keep listening to it. :v:
Thing is though If you listen to it lots then you'll wear it donw, if you explore and listen to a variety it'll all last a long time.
Thing is though If you listen to it lots then you'll wear it donw, if you explore and listen to a variety it'll all last a long time.
Okay. I've listened to melodeath for four years now. I've yet to grow tired of it.
My argument has been countered Continue listening to melodeath
How the fuck can Aaron Turner not be able to make shitty music at all? Except his early hardcore stuff

Clean that mess up son. And yes that's gonna be awesome. [editline]Dumb[/editline] I rated myself dumb for rating the wrong [sp]my[/sp] post.
It would be even more awesome if he decided to change the album's title back to what it originally was supposed to be.
Deconstruction of a Cheeseburger most metal title ever Although understandably he wanted it to be taken seriously. At least the concept is still about how life is a cheeseburger
