in layman's terms, brutal death is death metal but with drums that are at near grindcore "speeds" at ALL times excluding short groove passages and even more distortion, and with more technical riffing, and "cookie monster" vocals

"normal" death metal

suffocation just kinda borderlines standard death. most brutal death has much more gravely and "gurgled" vocals, though they are the pioneers of the genre in terms of the use of technicality and speed no doubt. Don't get their technicality confused with lack of song structure, when in fact it's just a deviation from standard composition, which in turn makes it more "technical."

hopefully I needn't get more in depth than these simple terms.
