Must listen to Gojira now. [editline]3rd March 2011[/editline] Ending drum beat is groovy.
Joey Jordison in my opinion is one of the greatest metal drummers alive, ofcourse after Gene Hoglan and whatnot. Still though, Joey was the reason why I'm killing to get a drumkit and drum lessons, I've been getting really into guitar but now I would like my life to lean towards a career as a drummer because there is lack of metal drummers here in Perth
My favourite drummer is Navene Koperweis from Animals as Leaders, dem time signatures. And because his improvisations live really fit the songs.
Animals as leaders have Tosin, he's badass as fuck

Danney Carey, Martin Lopez, Gavin Harrison, Mike Smith, Martin Axenrot, Mario Duplantier, etc.
And he's black, that makes him cooler
Racist. Positive racist.
And he's black, that makes him cooler
I agree
Racist. Positive racist.
theres no such thing as positive racism...
Anyone listening to Doom and/or stoner?
theres no such thing as positive racism...
Why did I learn different in Civics class? And for some manly metal-ish have some Crotchduster. It isn't solely metal thought, there are about 5-10 other genres in it.

Please, Ukri 'Uge' Sevilenko destroys the fuck outta jordison and he's only 16 i won't even mention Kollias, Derek Roddy, Mike Mangini, Chris Adler, Tony Laureano... Joey's a kid banging on his mom's pans compared to any of them
Kollias is fucking boring, all he does is really fast blasting. He needs some more eclectic skills. Also, his drum clinics consist of him showing off how fast he is.
Anyone listening to Doom and/or stoner?
I fucking love stoner metal! Which is your favorite band?

Funny how this thread became a metal music discussion when it was actually created to satirically house flame wars revolving metal music... Surprised to know that Tony Fredianelli (lead guitarist of Apocrypha) used to be in Third Eye Blind
I fucking hate the drumming in Gojira, it's so stale and mechanical That and the kick drum sounds like shit The vocals and some of the melodies are the only things about Gojira that I enjoy tbh [editline]3rd March 2011[/editline]
Funny how this thread became a metal music discussion when it was actually created to satirically house flame wars revolving metal music...
I fucking hate the drumming in Gojira, it's so stale and mechanical That and the kick drum sounds like shit The vocals and some of the melodies are the only things about Gojira that I enjoy tbh
Well for me I find that it is the drumming that sets the mood and gives an unique touch to Gojira especially in the Art of Dying (The Way of All Flesh) album and I find it pretty enjoyable but oh well... Edit:
Funny how it became a real discussion when it originally was a parody thread
Agreed..
I see complaints about bullet Their guitars riffs are awesome as fuck
oh come on they're as generic as they get. I couldn't write riffs that boring if I tried [editline]3rd March 2011[/editline]
Yes... And? Honestly, that statement is absolutely irrelevant. That's like replying to a comment talking about how red is someone's favorite color and saying "You realize that there are blue things, too, right?" It doesn't even make sense. To say that there are bands that are good is about as useful as saying that grass is green and dirty is brown. Of course there are. That has absolutely nothing to do about Disturbed. [editline]fish[/editline] Yeah, I could never really get into Gojira. Tried to get into them two or three times - tried both From Mars to Sirius and The Way of All Flesh. Just couldn't get into them.
I always hear this. "I know the band sucks but I like this ONE little thing about them" My point is hundreds of bands exist that have that one element that you like but aren't complete shit otherwise. you missed my point [editline]3rd March 2011[/editline] there are two artists worse than bullet attack attack icp that's it
so brokencyde isn't the worst? :allears:
they're just above bullet lol then disturbed then slipknot etc etc mix kid rock and every christian metalcore band ever in there and you're set
Trve Fvcking Blakk Metaal
Is it supposed to be funny?
I think it is. It's silly though because Immortal take the piss of themselves and other bands all the time, even though they're pioneers and one of the biggest black metal bands. ...Yet "true" fans still think everything they do is serious and amazing and true and shit lol
Immortal especially Abbath has a sense of humor (got to love that laugh at 4:07) and this also partly answers why they wear corpse paints..
That laugh was terrifying
Ohh yeah!

Yeah they just enjoy the music. They're not in it for the scene or any shit like that. In the interview above Abbath said they wear corpse paint (which he called war paint) to release their inner demons or something Which isn't the real reason, he was clearly just joking around (as always) :v:
I always hear this. "I know the band sucks but I like this ONE little thing about them" My point is hundreds of bands exist that have that one element that you like but aren't complete shit otherwise. you missed my point
Okay, I accede the point. The fact of the matter is I can still like the band, even if other bands do it better. If I followed your logic, I'd only listen to maybe a half-dozen bands, because they do it better than all the other bands. A half-dozen bands gets stale pretty fast. In fact, the argument can go either way, depending on how general a scope we narrow things down to. If we follow your logic of only listening to bands that have the best of elements we like, and are better in all other (assumedly positively) elements, then, by using a scope as wide as "the best metal band," then we'd only listen to a handful of bands: The best band that plays metal, the best band that plays country, the best band that plays rap, etc cetera. Alternately, if we make our scope incredibly narrow, such as "the best melodic progressive doom/death metal band with strong sludge influences and minor symphonic black metal influences," then we could be listening to hundreds among hundreds of bands - only one of those bands would fill that particular goal, but if all the goals are as narrow, then virtually every single permutation of that scope could have its own band, such as "the best melodic progressive doom/death metal band with minor sludge influences and minor symphonic black metal influences." And those hundreds of bands would only be in the umbrella "metal" genre - just imagine how many bands there would be in all the other umbrella genres. All that aside, though, I still have a right to like Disturbed. :colbert:
