I love Carcass, both old and new. I'm pretty amazed at how ahead of its time Reek of Putrefaction was really, I mean 1988 and they had so many weird vocal styles down that wouldn't be used for a long time to come (as far as I know at least?)

Heathen have replaced Overkill as today's kings of thrash (Lee from exodus really turned their shit around)
also, why has there been no mention of Tyr?

dat intro
I used to not like alestorm that much but they're pretty cool now.
Maybe it's just I never heard these songs.
I don't like metal that much, but I just saw Halford open for Ozzy. Much different experience listening to stuff like that live, rather than listening to it on the computer. Really gets you pumped.
Just discovered this band.

You've obviously never heard Suffocation.
Tech death should be named the same thing.
Only techdeath bands I've heard that are worth two shits are melodic techdeath bands like Allegaeon, Quo Vadis, Codeon, and Lunarsea. I find everything else in the genre incredibly boring. :frog:
Holy crap
I just found out Gaahl came out gay
It takes huge balls to come out when you're involved with the black metal scene
It's a bit weird too, didn't he kill a man for being gay?

You know how the saying goes...
Those who are the most opposed to gays tend to be gay themselves.
Not a real shocker, when you think about it.

That is true
But it's such an extreme
I sort of feel sorry for him, I bet he suppressed it for a long time to fit in the bm scene
Yeah. He only came out in 2004 or something I think? And he said he had been gay all his life, and it could have definitely got some huge negative reactions were he out at the beginnings of the scene, knowing some of the others involved in it.
I actually looked this up on Ye Olde Wikipedia.
In July 2008, Gaahl revealed in an online interview that he was involved in the creation of Wynjo, an upcoming fashion collection for women, together with Norwegian modeling agent Dan De Vero and designer Sonja Wu.[10][11] At the same time, it was also revealed that he and De Vero had a "close relationship" since 2006.[10][11] It was stated that they were no longer a couple but remained as good friends. In an interview for the November 2008 issue of Rock Hard, Gaahl confirmed his homosexuality.[12]
Shortly thereafter, De Vero stated that he had received threats from various black metal fans, both at his door and by phone and email.[13] It was also alleged that a fight had erupted backstage at Wacken Open Air, triggered by homophobic remarks. Allegedly, the person who made the remarks had to be hospitalised.[12] However, Gaahl denied that anyone had ever "said anything derogatory" to him in person.[12] When asked by the webzine FaceCulture if he thinks people will see him and his music differently now that he has publicly acknowledged his homosexuality, Gaahl replied:
"Mankind is known to be narrow-minded, so... maybe some [will have a negative reaction]. But I guess it will even out the score in a way. I think it will be positive for some and negative for some. It's always good to have some negative as well. Otherwise you would end up with equality and equality is the worst thing in the world. Equality is stagnation. It doesn't let anything grow. It holds back."

A bunch of guys in tight black leather, long hair, and make up. What's not gay about black metal? :v:
Also didn't Gorgoroth have a song about homoeroticism? it was love rages in my loins or something, it was posted in the metal asylum like last year
Well, "love rages in my loins" isn't limited to homoeroticism. It could simply mean "I'm horny and want to fuck something." IE a woman.
I was going to go onto darklyrics and look it up for you, but I was greeted with this:
Gorgoroth lyrics removed due to copyright complaint by the band.
Never seen a metal band do that before. :geno:
Albums from my personal list of underrated albums:
Gamma Ray - Sigh No More

Stratovarius - Dreamspace

Sepultura - Schizophrenia

Children of Bodom - Something Wild

Slayer - Hell Awaits

Maybe Schizophrenia IS well known and recieved, but NOT ENOUGH GODDAMNIT! And Sigh No More is seldom mentioned...
Please help me to add, I need it for a project at schoolio :)

There are bands who don't release their lyrics at all.

Oooooh okay
[editline]14th November 2010[/editline]
Gorgoroth are known to not give out their lyrics

I don't get it. Couldn't you just listen to the song? Or are they really hard to make out?
Got Insomnium's Across The Dark signed by Ville Vänni and Niilo Sevänen :buddy:

Badass.
Only reason I'd want to get a CD version of an album is if it were signed. You can't sign a digitally-distributed album. :frown:.

From experience, they're metal bands with indecipherable vocals or bands who don't place importance on the lyrics, but the music itself.
