Solos make me go "oh not this shit again, yes you are so awesome with your guitar skill and you're dominating the whole song now stop it"
Slightly off-topic, has anyone noticed that for any In Flames album, the self-titled track is usually the best on the entire album, or at least has some of the best riffs on the album? Case in point: This is a pattern I've noticed. Take any In Flames album, and the title track will always be one of the most memorable. Every other song (except maybe 1 or 2 others) is completely forgettable to me.

Yeah, but In Flames seem to have made it an art. Like, at least other bands have songs that come close to the title track. In Flames, though... Very few songs will come close to the title tracks. Like if you ask me to name more than 2 or 3 songs on a single In Flames album, I'll have to go onto Wikipedia and look them up. And I own The Jester Race, Whoracle, Colony and Come Clarity. It's terrible that they're so forgettable. That being said, out of the Gothenburg trio, I think Dark Tranquillity are the best. :colbert:
But some solos are just too orgasmic and gives a finishing touch to the song like the Painkiller solo

Old LoG sucks. Wrath and Sacrament are delicious.
I don't buy many albums, but certainly Iron Maiden do it.
So do Motorhead atleast some
Solos are never that good to listen to any more for me.
Not to be unfair, but most metal guitarists are pretty much of a muchness, at least nowadays. There aren't a lot of guitar "heroes" in metal bands (by which I mean guys who you can just click who is playing) by and large. Obviously there are exceptions, but there is definitely a massive amount of formulaic work in a lot of areas regarding solos, whereas there are quite a few really talented riff writers. Guys like Per Nilsson from Scar Symmetry are pretty cool though.
blood mountain is the best album
BM will always be my favorite. Plus the album art is amazing.
Crack the Skye is easily the best, in my opinion, it just feels fucking epic from start to finish. Also helps I have a signed copy :v:
I only liked Leviathan [editline]30th March 2011[/editline] they were disappointing live
I only liked Leviathan [editline]30th March 2011[/editline] they were disappointing live
... ... I have no words to describe how I just don't get that.
don't get what
I've saw em twice, both shows kicked ass.
I saw them open for Slayer and it was just bad, I thought (lots of other people said this afterwards as well). The mixing was terrible and they just had this sort of "rockstar" attitude. They looked like they didn't want to be there. Not once did they interact with the crowd, not even a hello/goodbye/thank you. They just stood there and played, then left. And apparently afterwards, one of the guys from the band started a fight with a bartender in the city.
The only one who can sing live is the bassist.
Meh, were good shows when I went v:v:v
