What is general studies?
We stare at a picture of Patton for a few hours until we think of something profound.
My sixth form is for reasons unknown to everyone - including the teachers who teach it - fucking adadamant that we do it.
My old college made me do Key Skills Level 2 in IT because I hadn't done GCSE IT. We got a mock paper in the first lesson (which was all multiple choice) to see what level our skills were at, I got full marks. That was a waste of my time I had to attend to get my EMA. Also, congratulations to everyone who got in roughly where they wanted to go! Don't suppose there's anyone doing Applied Physics at the Uni. of Portsmouth? Be interesting to meet the new guys coming in.
I sleeped in and missed the collection deadline, have to wait for my results to come through the post D:
Don't worry mate, same thing happened here too. :(
What is general studies?
Look up the hitch hikers guide to the galaxy's definition of infinite and apply it to "massive waste of time"
Just got my accomodation offer from the best halls in Plymouth. To all the people doing AS levels, my results at january 2010 were EDUU which was in line with my predictions. I got reccomended to leave and go do an NVQ after the summer by my head of sixth. Managed to get BCC overall in my results this year, it's really all down to your attitude.
Looks like I'm into York doing Physics
Just got my student finance stuff, turns out they're going to be paying my firm offer rather than my insurance. I can see this being a right ballache to sort out.
I achieved full distinctions on my level 3 BTEC public services course. Go me.
Maths C1 + C2 - C Maths stats - B Chemistry - E :v: (tbh i shouldn't have kept going with it) Geography physical - B Geography human - U :( Physics - D :( Procrastination much Not exactly happy with em, but I think so far it is enough to go to my primary option (Gonna do loads of retakes anyway) Oh great, page king.

YAY RESULTS Been waiting ~3 years for a new pc now, parents said they'd buy me one so that's a nice chunk of money i don't have to spend before uni :) grandparents also gave me £50 so that's nice. woop

When I finished high school I was so jealous of the spoilt kids who got presents just for finishing and getting good grades - it made NO sense to me, especially with results being like two weeks before Christmas.

So you don't think i should get it?
Huh? So you don't think i should get it?
you should, you deserve it after all the work you probably put in
25th is the day I find out, hopefully it'll all go well, otherwise, tall building here I come.
Got my ABB to get into Nottingham to do Mechanical Engineering. In physics my overall score was 420 which was a B. Found out today that 420 is the B/C grade boundary. Close one!
Latin - A Chemistry - A Classical Civilisation - D (Fuck you Pompey, you ass. At least I can recover this.) Maths - U (Probably shoulda learned the course. Meh, I'll do it next year.) Just waiting on my GCSE Greek now.

If you are moving away to uni, its probably better to buy a nice laptop instead for the sake of not having hassle.

(I have an old 2003 era pc I use on the odd occasion I'm home). Especially if you're doing any subject that requires a vague sense of computing power (anything with maths really) I wouldnt bother taking a laptop to lectures, it just distracts you (the last time I did that someone took a router and we had a LAN game of aoe at the back of a management lecture). The uni will have plenty of computer on the off chance you need one while you're down there... I don't see an advantage to it/
What does a latin exam consist of?
A literature paper, which is questions on texts we've studied, and a language paper, which is translation of passages we (supposedly) haven't seen, but my class was lucky enough to get one we'd already done as preparation.
The lecturer won't get annoyed if you start playing GBA games on your laptop?
Depends entirely on the lecturer. They all have different attitudes to teaching and you'll figure it out pretty quickly. Our management lecturer didn't care, as he was paid a ridiculous sum by sheffield uni to travel up from london once a week to teach one lecture, all expenses paid. He didn't have to write any exams or set or mark any essays, so he had a pretty damn good arrangement and he knew it. Some lecturers think its rude if you aren't paying attention to them in their lectures (fair enough really)
AS can count for a max of 40 points iirc, that's if you didn't take all A2 courses in your second year
Depends entirely on the university. Mine only took your top three 3 A level grades into consideration.

If you are going by car to uni it should be fine, but me flying over for instance its rather difficult. I think if you were gaming in lecturers but not actually disturbing others with sounds, the lecturers would say its your education, money and time being wasted not mine. So you write down everything with pen and paper when not gaming the bit out? I can't do that, my handwriting is terrible and makes looking at notes later on a length translation process. Uni's usually do, its exam time where having a printer is nice, so hard to find any computers!
