Depends entirely on the university. Mine only took your top three 3 A level grades into consideration.
Ah, that makes sense.
A*AAC, got into Durham!
AS results: Bio:C Chem:C Phys:A Maths:B Dropping chem next year, hoping to do phys at uni...
Most laptops are fine now, but my flatmate had to do engineering calculations in Excel and they crashed most of the time so valid point. If you are going by car to uni it should be fine, but me flying over for instance its rather difficult. I think if you were gaming in lecturers but not actually disturbing others with sounds, the lecturers would say its your education, money and time being wasted not mine. So you write down everything with pen and paper when not gaming the bit out? I can't do that, my handwriting is terrible and makes looking at notes later on a length translation process. Uni's usually do, its exam time where having a printer is nice, so hard to find any computers!
It also depends on your course, but yes, you make all valid points (I do Electronic Engineering for the record and nobody uses laptops in lectures)
Got my three Distinctions for my BTEC in Computer Software Development! So thats my place at Swansea uni confirmed, have an awesome flat right on the beach a 15 minutes walk from town and uni (£250 a month for each me and my girlfriend, place looks awesome), and I got a new laptop which im posting this from for getting into uni, this months turned out pretty damn good!
Oh yeah I got £140 today, that covbers last night and L.A Noire.
AS results: Bio:C Chem:C Phys:A Maths:B Dropping chem next year, hoping to do phys at uni...
Unis'll look more favourably on chemistry than on biology mainly because there's some overlap between chemistry and physics, but they're both shit subjects so who gives a toss.
GCSE results in just over 5 days. Unfortunately for me, I'm not the smartest around, you lot seem fucking gods compared to me. Hoping to get a C in English, though. Not Literature. Wasn't in a high enough set to do it. Hoping to get a C in, well, Woodwork really. But it's called Design & Technology as far as I can remember. Everything else is probably going to be a D. I'm not sure if they list all subjects, or the exams. I won't care about Digital Photography, that was a piss take and I just couldn't be arsed, I did try at some points. E is probably a likely grade for me there. Just need 2 C's. It's all I need as a minimum. Otherwise, I start at entry level for college. Apparently that's retards level, suddenly made me go "NOPE" and WORK my ass off for what I hope to be getting. I will be disappointed beyond relief if I don't get 1 C. Especially in English. I put the biggest amount of motherfucking effort into that. Spelling was 100% in that shit. I've gotten at least 95% correct spelling on all of my English exams. Most were 100%.
You should do fine mate, that post was really coherent considering you only want a C :v:
Tell that to my high school for the past 3 years :saddowns: Been typing like that for years. I was in Set 4, the lowest, in year 9. The sets were then divided by two into 8 sets. In laymans terms, being in Set 5 meant I was technically in set 3. Still an improvement, but not much, and it didn't seem like they saw much potential. Plus, my English teacher went ill for months and probably still is, and we had the worst substitute teachers ever. All we did was write the same shit from the book. I actually got bored until the last substitute, he was fuckin' amazing and encouraged me when he C'd some work I did. Went into that exam like a boss, came out like a boss. I swear, if I don't get a C, I will cry on that day.
Oh yeah I got £140 today, that covbers last night and L.A Noire.
Out of interest how much did people spend last night? Got pretty wankered and spent £40 going to a results party, smoking cigars with strippers and shit, was awesome. And about laptops, i'm doing comp sci and i have a laptop that's good enough so i'm gonna take my new desktop and my laptop.
Probably a time to point out, stuff getting nicked at uni does happen, but it won't happen to you if you are careful. Lock your shit up when you aren't around and it'll be fine. A big one to watch is bikes, they get pinched around here all the time, even if they are locked up.
D - Philosophy buddies. Do you know if many people did badly in the Philosophy?
sorry man, I've got no idea
D - Philosophy buddies. Do you know if many people did badly in the Philosophy?
I got a U in AS Philosophy because I turned up 20 mins late after sleeping in and not realising I had the exam. i got a U again in a retake because I CBA to revise so I played Minecraft. I slept at a friends house because i CBA to walk to mine from hers.
Uni is awesome. Just completed my second year of BA Game Design at Huddersfield Uni and next year I'm going onto a second year of BA Enterprise Development (special request I made) If you haven't got in anywhere it may be an idea to contact the individual departments and I'm sure they'd be able to accomodate most people. Excellent uni, huge, party-ish, etc.
Hmm. I got: Media: A Maths: B (Made stupid mistakes on C2 and M1 paper clearly) Physics: B (Completely bombed the Unit 1 exam, as well as my ISA) Geography: C (I was always going to fail this anyway) It's... better than most of the country. Didn't revise for my exams at all, so that's worth a few brownie points I guess. Let's see what Newcastle Uni has to offer me.
Just done some calculations, I'm now staying at home rather than living in the Halls at Staffs. Living in the Halls would have left me with a little over £17pw to live on. Living at home (And only a short bus ride from the Stoke campus) has given me £115pw to live on. I think I'm gonna do ok.
Huh? So you don't think i should get it?
No you deserve it. I was just pissed off that my friends were being bought laptops just for finishing year 12.
I've heard that American AP courses are similar in difficulty to A levels, can anyone confirm?

I live a 3 hours train ride away, or nearly 4 hours in the car. So I'm afraid I have no choice but to live in their accomodation. I've just accepted and paid the deposit for it though. I am pretty excited about it now xD

Pretty stoked but not too impressed with 19th September @ 10am start date.

I don't remember seeing anything about it for me, and I read it all through as carefully as I could. Unless you got told in an email, haven't checked them yet. [edit]: Just read the email, got the date

The SU at Portsmouth were shit and didn't send me any info, so I had no idea what was going on. Stoke's SU might be better and actually send you the info though.

Stoke's SU should be ok, they've got a facebook page for events and suchlike at least.

GCSE results are tomorrow. I'm feeling fairly ambivalent. I know that the results are important but I also know that I can't do anything about the results at this stage so there is no point in fretting.

On the plus side if you get good GCSE's you can pretty much got to any college you like.
Well, I hope I'll do alright tomorrow. I can only be optimistic.
Good luck to everyone getting their GCSE results tommorow, I'm sure going to need it :(
Us across the board.
