Ive never understood teaching as a degree.
I mean wtf in the UK you can get any degree and the basis of it I.e. maths, physics etc is what you would teach to kids.
You need a 2.2 I think average to apply for a PCGE course which is a 1 year teaching course im not 100% on the route after that I assume its teacher training after (on the job).
I always wondered though why take a teaching degree for 4 years (mates degree) when you can study something totally different for 3 years and then if you wish to be a teacher take the 1 year course after.
Off topic a lil just a thought about further education.
God dammit, was meant to be going to a parent/teacher thing to get my GCSE results but my mum was on holiday. Have to wait for these results, got straight D's in maths but I've probably done better in the double science/geography/history.
Oh and I've got a U in ICT probably, I hated the teacher, the class, just about everything we done in there so I done fuck all the whole year. I honestly couldn't give a fuck seeing as an A in that class was planning and making a leaflet for "e-safety".
I'm not sure whether I should drop Biology for A2. I really disliked the AS course because
of the metric F ton of information you have to learn off and recite as opposed to Chemistry
where the stuff you do learn off is used to solve problems and such.
Can anyone tell me what the A2 course is like? I have AQA as my biology board.
Do you have to learn as much off?
I want to study Fineart at uni so I don't think it's that important I have a fourth A2 level.
(btw I'm predicted an A and I have Chemistry, Maths and Art as my other A levels)
All I want is my 5 A-C's so I can get into Sixth Form. To be honest, I already have 2 English (Language and Literature) thanks to my coursework (I'm kinda boss at English), I know I have a Science at least, I know I have German, Food, Business and History. Not sure about Maths though, Module 5 was a fucking killer. But I should be good.
Took a Spanish GCSE, terrible mistake.
Ended up doing spanish for five years, and I still can't speak it. :v:
Not to mention all the mocks the teacher gave us were wrong, and he forgot to teach us a huge chunk of the syallabus.
Good job school.

Coursework only accounts for something like 25% - at my school we spent literally about 1.6 years on the coursework and then .4 of a year on, you know, the thing that would give us 100% of lang and 60% of lit or something similar.
^ I'm beginning to think I went to a terrible school.
I feel Like I fucked up the my AS exams and I am really suffering due to that. My year 13 exams, however, I feel awesome about.
I'm trying to get into Nottingham and it's my only ticket out of qatar. My dad won't send me anywhere else after my brother completely failed his third year at uni.
I'm hoping to get an A* in A2 maths and two A's in music tech and physics (I'm in my first year), but I don't think it's likely. I'm going to work so hard next year because I'm hoping to go to either cambridge to study engineering, or surrey to study music technology. It's really annoying that I didn't realise how important A/S's are because I've screwed around all year, now my uni application may suffer. Oh well!
I'mma rate everyone heart for good luck!
Need ABB to get into Kent :x Got it in AS but not so confident now.

This. A thousand times this. I got an A (or so I was told), but since I've left I've forgotten everything. Although that may be partly because I actual don't want to remember any of it. What a horrible subject.
I'm shitting ultimate amounts of jagged edged bricks and I've still got another year of this bullshit.
I also have to sit the UKCAT next week and looking at the 'revision' book, it's going to tear me a new asshole. FUCK.
[editline]16th August 2011[/editline]
Good luck to everyone though!
Oh god you just reminded me. I am fairly sure I have failed history, but ICT, Computer and Geography should be fine.
Anyone going to uni in London? I'm for Westminster next month, already got my grades but wish I worked so much harder as I wouldn't have had to take a gap year.
I'm going to Westminster too, however I'll be in the section thats in Harrow to study media.

Which one? Honestly Trent is the best for engineering and the like.
AS results in two days...
I honestly hope that everyone here gets what they desire.
I'm going to Westminster too, however I'll be in the section thats in Harrow to study media.
Same! Are you studying Contemporary Media Practice? Staying in Halls?

I doubt I will.
I'm shitting it, I really want to take maths on to next year but I'm pretty sure I completely fucked up on the exam due to procrastinating far too much. I'm not worried about computing at all as it was really easy, I'm pretty sure I did good in chemistry but we'll have to see I guess, and I'm fairly confident about Physics but I completely fucked up the easy paper when I knew all the shit because I'm an idiot.
It was all AS so I'm just furiously hoping that I got good enough results to carry on what I want to next year, then I can resit everything I fucked up.
Hoping to get into Plymouth this year. Anyone else going there?
I'm going to Plymouth :D.
What are you studying?
Also, need 240 points ( CCC ) for Ocean Science
I fucked up my Law essay bad, no high hopes for that. History was decent though, I do pretty well in fascist dictators.
I screwed up Geography, but I have a foundation year as my insurance so i'm going no matter what really.
Predicting B in Biology C in Chemistry possibly B and then D in Geography.
I got Distinction Star in my BTEC ICT Course :D
I'm going to Plymouth :D.

I will be studying Robotics hopefully, and I need 260 points.
Same! Are you studying Contemporary Media Practice? Staying in Halls?
Yep, and am I correct in assuming you're doing the same?
Need AAB for Nottingham to do physics. Already have A* in maths. Physics and chem are my other subjects, as well as further maths, but I'm almost certain I fucked that up and nobody cares anyway (as long as I get an A and a B, or maybe even two B's since I hit that A*, I can get in.)
I'm nervous nonetheless.
[editline]16th August 2011[/editline]
Retroactive good luck to everyone in this thread.
Hoping to get AAA for Southampton
If not, then York will let me in with AAB
It's cutting it a bit fine but it could be worse, my friend has: Firm: AAA, Insurance: AAA :v:
Good luck guys!
[editline]16th August 2011[/editline]
Also, anyone know if it's true you can see what uni accepted you at midnight tomorrow on UCAS?
Yep, and am I correct in assuming you're doing the same?
Awesome, you awaiting the grades? I got mine last year so I'm sorted. Kinda, got refused at Harrow Halls so went with Victoria Halls instead, two stops down the Met line and £178pw instead of £124pw. Bet you don't get a free iPad 2 though! :v:

Got my grades a few months ago so I'm sorted too. iPad sounds nice but atleast I can just fall out of bed and I'll be in the Uni.
Got my IGCSE results, wasn't bad. Got 7A*'s 2 A's and a B
How someone can get an A* for English Literature and a B for English Language really bums me out.
