It almost seemed like they were saying that Last Light is going to be kind-of open world. Am I imagining this or did they come out and say they were making it open world? Because an open-world Metro exploration game would be fucking kickass as hell.
I like the idea of being able to explore the whole of the Metro but for some reason it feels too good to be true.
Please be open-world. It would add so much. 2033 was so fun because of the environments - the gunplay was poor, but the atmosphere, environment, story, and whatnot was all great. It was just tense. An open-world creation would be absolutely amazing environment-wise.

Bullets would bounce off helmets and bandoliers and other things so you had to be accurate where you shoot.
I could imagine Last Light being semi-openworld. The best example I have for that would be Darksiders 2; large world with "instances".
The only problem I had with the gunplay is how resistant the Nazi body armour is to point blank shotgun shells

Did anyone else notice the female Ranger in the trailer at 2:20? It's pretty significant since people were saying specifically that women didn't fight in the time of Metro 2033, so maybe it's another sign of the Metro changing? Also that clobbered together Mosin-Nagant at 3:18 is pretty awesome, it was in another trailer without the scope though.
I've seen some screenshots of regular metro guns with military-style red dots sights and things, and I've realized I really like them. It contrasts with the whole pipes-and-scrap-wood design, and makes it seem even more like it was cobbled together from spare parts.
i dunno why people always say metro 2033 was so scary, it wasn't scary at all imo
The game inherently wasn't scary, it was eerie but it had an incredibly immersive atmosphere that allowed you to be engrossed within the game. Your mind would be in survival mode, saving every bit of ammo you could, barely squeezing the trigger until you're traversing the surface disturbed the silence. A librarian pops out from behind the wall in a loud grunt, quite literally scaring the shit out of you and you let loose a fury of bullets towards its direction as a reflex. You're now out of ammo, facing a librarian, low on filters, on the surface, in buildings that haven't seen anything but a bandit or mutant in over 20 years and is falling apart. The game was eerie as hell but it wasn't scary. It was just that great of an atmosphere.
Wonder if this will be more optimized, requirements are lower then metro 2033
Wonder if this will be more optimized, requirements are lower then metro 2033
They said it was a main focus. Even if it isn't optimized I hope we'll be able to customize our video settings.
I just saved all my money, found a coil gun and bought a fuckton of ball bearings. Which lasted me for pretty much the rest of the game. Oh, and a silenced revolver.
Well you see I didn't know you could trade in weapons for more military ammunition until my second play though so I was out of ammo most of the time and all I had was the AK and the double barrel.
ay em artyom
It's only scary when you have no ammo and you know that there are going to be Nazis/mutants/or those fucking Amoebae.
I honestly never had the lack of ammo problem. I mean, I'd run out of ammo for say, my revolver, but never my Volt Driver/Auto Shotgun or main weapon. I just found tonnes of ammo lying around everywhere.
