Me and my friends are starting a project and we like Fall of Troy, but want something not as hardcore or shreddy. Slightly less so. Similar concept though. Any suggestions for inspiration?
I'd barely call that jazz, some kinda fusion :l can't help much. Bohren und der Club of Gore maybe?..
Yeah I wasn't too sure what it was Thanks bro!
Anyone know good (smooth) jazz groups?
Dave Brubeck Quartet or Duke Ellington to your liking, although neither are actually that smooth. Still good. [editline]6th July 2011[/editline]
Miles Davis' Kind Of Blue is an obvious album
I wouldn't say it's the best starter Jazz album, but that's just me.
Best of John Coltrane was my first jazz album :frogc00l:
Best of John Coltrane was my first jazz album :frogc00l:
Love Supreme by him in my opinion is the greatest starter jazz album for anyone. That thing sends you in all directions..

Best Bob Marley album, pretty please with sugar on top.
Best Bob Marley album, pretty please with sugar on top.
Burnin' or Catch a Fire imo
Best Bob Marley album, pretty please with sugar on top.
I love Exodus the most but the other two suggested are outstanding too, especially Burnin'.
The best to start with Marley is probably Legend, might be the only 'best off' album that doesn't make you look like a fool.
The best to start with Marley is probably Legend, might be the only 'best off' album that doesn't make you look like a fool.
It is a superb album all round, definitely a great portrait of his genius.
Thanks to everyone who recommended "Built to Spill". Was better than I expected. Really enjoying this! :v:

This is kinda of vague but how about some bands that distort their instruments?
This is kinda of vague but how about some bands that distort their instruments?
that is kind of vague so i dunno maybe Radioheads newest album? they have everything all cut up and processed and shit in a few the songs.
This is kinda of vague but how about some bands that distort their instruments?
haha vague as fuck yes. well, Kashiwa Daisuke does some great electronic treatments on classical instrumentation. check him out, if you don't mind super long songs :) then noise rock and shoegaze are pretty swell, guitars making tons of feedback and effects. The album Loveless by My Bloody Valentine is my favourite... one of the best moments in rock I think. Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr. (You're Living All Over Me album) and Yo La Tengo are good too, kinda a generic list but essential stuff.
This is kinda of vague but how about some bands that distort their instruments?
Animal Collective love to take pianos and guitars and stuff and make them all weird. love this music video
Animal Collective are always great, love their Sung Tongs album.
