This is going to be a rather.... broad request, but I want something that sounds like these songs:

Any help whatsoever is appreciated.
Does anyone know any cyberpunk (ambient) artists? I can't seem to find any at all.
I'm looking for something like in the new Deus Ex (Human Revolution). Personally love the ambiance:

That really reminds me of the soundtrack for Blade Runner by the group Vangelis.

It's a very fine soundtrack.
This is more asking what genre these songs would be? I get a similar kind of feeling from both, but they could be different genres completely.

the silent hill soundtracks have always reminded me of Tortoise. They're a post-rock band. I dunno if there a lot of post-rock bands that sound really similar to them but you can sorta get the same feel or atmosphere from some other bands like Do Make Say Think or Mogwai.
some of tortoise's stuff

Anyone know of any good Breakbeat?
Anyone know of any good Breakbeat?
:3
The Prodigy
The Crystal Method
Overseer
Hold Your Colour-era Pendulum
The Chemical Brothers
Apollo 440
Noisia
Chase and Status
Junkie XL
Fluke
some Fatboy Slim
I guess those are what I'd kinda call the "standards" for bigbeat/breakbeat.
After Antlers and Galaxie 500, I need more Slowcore.
Something like this is would be cool too. :)

i warn you; it is a sad album.
I've been meaning to ask how you get all of your music Ak'z. I assume you pirate but I thought I'd read you saying something about hating piracy a while back. Perhaps I'm mistaken
I collect a lot of LPs. But I have to admit that I nab n' borrow a lot. That's all I'll say :v:
In all realness, if it's a release that appeals to me, I'll get the physical copy.
Haven't even started Uni yet so funds have yet had time to stretch.
I wholeheartedly recommend "Computer Savvy" by the J. Arthur Keenes band to literally everyone.
It's free, and you'll like it even if you don't like chiptunes--they simply use the NES as another instrument in the band!

I've finally managed to crack into electronic music and find a band that I like: Boards of Canada. Are there any other bands similar to them, and/or bands that you would suggest to a person new to the genre as a whole?
Kraftwerk

Aphex Twin is your best answer. You'll like BOP and Tycho too.

Check your Last FM for my suggestions. It'll take some time to get them, but once you do it's awesome.
Will do

Aphex Twin
Autechre
Tycho
some Royksopp
Polygon Windows
Ochre
Yasuma
uzic (the u is the mu symbol)
Dusty Brown
Burial is good too, with a heavy sense of emotion like Boards of Canada
I'm looking for stuff that sounds like the first 45 or so seconds of this:

I can't find anything about who made the music for this, so I'm stuck looking for similar sounding stuff I guess.
e: Justice's Cross sounds kind of like this. This is pretty good.

well... Nick Drake was born in Burma, if that counts.
I have a few great ones from Germany though:
Nico - Desertshore (well, she's german american)/ The Marble Index / The End
Popol Vuh - Hosiana Mantra
Can - Tago Mago / Ege Bamyasi / Future Days
Amon Duul II - Amon Duul II
Empyrium - Where at Night the Woodgrouse Plays
Troum & All Sides - Shutûn
Bohren und der Club of Gore - Black Earth / Sunset Mission
others I haven't really listened to enough to suggest an album are: Faust, Neu!, Kraftwerk, Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream, Monolake
I know a little but about Russian music
Dolphin - Ткани
Oidupaa Vladimir Oiun - Divine Music from a Jail
Is their such thing as a mixture of dream pop and experimental in existence?
