All dream pop is experimental dude.

At least one from each country, just give me what you know.
Germany should be easy no? Tangerine Dream - Phaedra India: Ravi Shankar - Three Ragas Egypt: Ali Jihad Racy - Ancient Egypt I need a while to think about the others because I forget countries a lot. [editline]16th July 2011[/editline]
Is their such thing as a mixture of dream pop and experimental in existence?
Look for albums by Candy Claws. Enjoy it.
This is kinda of vague but how about some bands that distort their instruments?
Check out Sleigh Bells. Almost every instrument on their album is distorted as fuck.
This is kinda of vague but how about some bands that distort their instruments?
Most rock bands of any kind distort their instruments :v: But I think I know what you mean. Maybe look into noise rock

Tangerine Dream - Phaedra India: Ravi Shankar - Three Ragas Egypt: Ali Jihad Racy - Ancient Egypt I need a while to think about the others because I forget countries a lot.
Thanks, Germany is easier to find, I already knew one or two artists I liked from the country, but I wanted more of it anyway. And I prefer asking people for album suggestions directly without doing any research, it's more fun that way.
Okay, I'm looking for Jazz, primarily instrumental stuff, have any recommendations?
Miles Davis's "Birth of the Cool" and "Kind of Blue", The Dave Brubeck Quartet's "Time Out", Duke Ellington's "Ellington at Newport 1956 (Complete)" and Charles Mingus's "The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady" come to mind.
Looking for depressing music.
Looking for depressing music.
Joy Division if you're into post-punk. Famous for the singer having hung himself. Their second album is gloomier Swans and Godspeed You! Black Emperor, are both pretty depressing. GY!BE is post-rock and their songs are long and contemplative. Swans are more noise-rock but their later album Soundtracks For the Blind is sorta considered post-rock. For some quiet acoustic stuff check out Nick Drake's Pink Moon, Leonard Cohen's Songs of Love and Hate, and Bonnie "Prince" Billy's I See A Darkness. The whole genre of slowcore is pretty depressing. I'd recommend The Red House Painters, Low, and Clarissa's Weird.
Looking for groovy sludgy southern influenced stuff anywhere from Mastodon to Isis
Any notable artist that fuses rap with other genres? I find these groups pretty interesting. ex Was asking if anyone knew any artist they liked like this but okay. :v:
Looking for groovy sludgy southern influenced stuff anywhere from Mastodon to Isis
Clutch, Corrosion of Conformity, Crowbar, Down, Eyehategod, Graveyard, High on Fire, Kylesa
Okay, I'm looking for Jazz, primarily instrumental stuff, have any recommendations?
Mills Brothers - Caravan :smug: [editline]17th July 2011[/editline]
Looking for depressing music.
Nick Drake has got some depressing stuff.
Okay, I'm looking for Jazz, primarily instrumental stuff, have any recommendations?
Medeski, Martin & Wood - End of the World Party (Just in Case) Cool album. [editline]17th July 2011[/editline]
Looking for depressing music.
Joy Division - Closer
I remember listening to Unknown Pleasures and thinking it was one of the most boring pieces of music I'd ever been exposed to
I remember listening to Unknown Pleasures and thinking it was one of the most boring pieces of music I'd ever been exposed to
I personally think it's very chilled. It's what you get with "POST" Punk.
oh it was chilled, that I can't disagree with [editline]18th July 2011[/editline] it just seemed so devoid of everything, there was no feel it was just really bland [editline]18th July 2011[/editline] I was kind of disappointed, everyone said it was such a great album too
oh it was chilled, that I can't disagree with [editline]18th July 2011[/editline] it just seemed so devoid of everything, there was no feel it was just really bland [editline]18th July 2011[/editline] I was kind of disappointed, everyone said it was such a great album too
Fair enough, if you felt that way there's no harm hearing it again. Whenever I think I'm getting bored I just listen to something else and revisit it afterwards.
I got no time in my music schedule to listen to stuff I found boring Got all this new stuff I have to hear first
I got no time in my music schedule to listen to stuff I found boring Got all this new stuff I have to hear first
So you never revisit albums? Bad ethic.
Oh no I do but right now there's a lot of other stuff I need to listen to And generally if I didn't like an album whatsoever I won't really give it more than 2 or 3 full listens before forgetting about it [editline]18th July 2011[/editline] I know you think that I should listen to an album over and over and over again until I like it but that's not how I operate I give things a fair chance and if they don't live up to it, then they're forgotten about
Your choice pal, but since you have no Last FM I can't stalk what you're schedule actually is. :)
I don't even understand how it operates exactly I can tell you my listening schedule right now, listen to a lot of God Is An Astronaut, all day, some PF, Tangerine Dream, assorted post rock and ambient and some electronic [editline]18th July 2011[/editline] listening to Alpha Centauri right now
Tangerine Dream listening to Alpha Centauri right now
Why don't you say these things. :pwn: How are you finding it?
Trippy [editline]18th July 2011[/editline] great background music for dead space comics
Listen to some Klaus Shulze too. Also if you haven't heard Phaedra and Stratosfear albums yet, add them to your list. Amazing stuff.
I have Phaedra, I got them on Clovis's suggestions I also have Rubycon. I'll put on Phaedra next (heard it before) but I'll probably finish these comics before and it's like 2am now and I'd like to get some Battlestar in before I go to sleep [editline]18th July 2011[/editline] Oh wait I'm at the end of Alpha now, so I guess I will have a go
Aplha Centuari, Zeit, Rubycon, Phaedra the big 4 of TD
I think Stratosfear is good enough to go in that category. :( [editline]17th July 2011[/editline] look at the cover too
I'll 'get' Zeit soon them I have to say Phaedra is the trippiest of them so far, if I ever get mushrooms again this and post rock will be my soundtrack. Just so many oscillations and changes in sound direction, tone, and stuff make it an audio feast [editline]18th July 2011[/editline]
I think Stratosfear is good enough to go in that category. :( [editline]17th July 2011[/editline] look at the cover too
Reminds me of the Monolith in 2001
Stratosfear is like the "Testament" of the Big four. Arguably better than one of the 4, but not as impactful
Dude, don't confuse me I'm tired.
