I wish I was born in 1963 or something, and was placed in America somewhere I would have led an incredible life
I would prefer growing up in the 60s and then maturing in the 70s. Music would be so ace.
yeah that's kind of what I meant
However we say these things, but don't realise that music is a LOT easier to get. Back then music enthusiasts had to travel all over to get the good obscure stuff.
man there is this weird part in Phaedra which sounds like a crying animal I feel so bad I'm going to go hug my cat [editline]18th July 2011[/editline] yeah but the joy of a travelling isn't in the destination, it's how you get there With friends it would be absolutely incredible, that's why my life would have been insane if I grew up in that time.
I need klezmer.
Anyone got more stuff like Que Sera? For refrence

Yea Black Saint and the Sinner Lady is one of the greatest things to ever exist, don't know if it's a great intro to jazz though, just because hardly anything in jazz sounds much like it. little improvisation involved. Ah Um, Blues and Roots, Live at Antibes, and Tijuana Moods are great Mingus albums with more emphasis on soloing. some more good jazz that's pretty accessible: Cannonball Adderly - Somethin' Else (listen to this before Kind of Blue) Thelonious Monk - Monk's Dream Sun Ra - Jazz In Silhouette Bill Evans - Sunday at the Village Vanguard Oliver Nelson - Blues and the Abstract Truth
I need klezmer.
I need to find some too. Cohen's I'm Your Man has a somewhat klezmer feel.
CDBaby says partly influenced by Klezmer, closest thing I know about.
I want more stuff like Life Without Buildings, I'm adoring the vocal style.
redd.it/ita8m You guys can probably help me out a lot with that. :D
I would actually love some jazz that sounds like Black Saint and the Sinner Lady, got some?
well there's a tough one. um.. nothing really sounds like it, but there are other jazz albums that contain some of that grand scale and adventurousness some of Sun Ra's later albums (I haven't really gone through them much, he has a huge and weird as fuck discography) are pretty out there. Check Atlantis. Later Miles Davis albums like Bitches Brew Moondog's self titled 1969 album (theres an earlier self titled album, I haven't heard it) Carla Bley and Paul Haines - Escalator Over the Hill Duke Ellington - Far East Suite (big inspiration) The Jazz Composer's Orchestra (very free jazz sounding) Ornette Coleman - Skies of America Krzysztof Komeda - Astigmatic aaand Klezmer: Cracow Klezmer Band - De Profundis and John Zorn (of all people) has plenty of Klezmer and other Jewish music. I'm no expert on Zorn though, only heard one of his five million albums.

Alright I'm getting really bored of just listening to The Band, Queen, Grateful Dead and Fleetwood Mac. I want some new music, I don't really care what it is, something casual that sounds good, I don't like metal though :v:
I have been listening to all the Black Keys my speakers can handle. Does anyone know any bands that are similar in type of music that I can listen to?
