I just listened to and greatly enjoyed Michael Manring's Thonk. What album of his shall I listen to next?
Does it have to be by him? Check out some stuff by Stanley Clarke, Billy Sheehan and Victor Wooten.
Someone give me stuff that sounds just fucking awesome in general. I tend to like that stuff
The problem with this is what one person thinks is fucking awesome another could find boring as fuck.
Here is stuff that I love.

Any suggestions similar to these bands/groups/songs are welcome. I'm getting a little tired of listening to the same thing over and over again.
Possibly some Massive Attack songs for the first category

Anyone got some 80s good 80s rock or metal music?

.O. Rang isn't quite like it but it is ex-Talk Talk members partially so it's essential. Much more psychedelic stuff though.
Hats by the Blue Nile also. kinda 80s synth sounding but the songs flow very naturally once you get past that.
The For Carnation is nice, has Pajo from Slint and it's pretty loose sounding slow-core/postrock
all I can think of... I'm desperate for any more Talk Talk related stuff too
edit
and TAU, you know have a nice life, I'm guessing? the Giles Corey guy is half the band

Led Zeppelin isn't an 80s band but whatever.
Check out Jeff Beck, a guitarist who helped pave the hard-rock and heavy metal movement in the 60s and 70s. Also check out Pantera and Iggy Pop and the Stooges. Those guys rock.

You should really listen to some Porcupie Tree. It sounds like just what you'd want. Specifically Deadwing, Fear of a Blank Planet and you should also listen to The Incident, In Absentia and Stupid Dream while you're at it.

I hate to torture a recommendation but you'd probably really like Karnivool, check out their album Sound Awake. It's one of my all-time favourites, and is very similar to what you're looking for. Also Porcupine Tree as stated before. I'd also have a look at God is an Astronaut and Fair to Midland.

No problem, and thanks guys. I'm still looking for some suggestions for the other areas though. I've checked out these suggestions and so far they're all pretty good. Also, Tycho is great, and I've been listening to Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, and God is an Astronaut for a while now.

It's an awesome band.
Anyone have R&B favorites they would like to share?
Recommend me the scariest song you've ever heard. Lyrics, music, it doesn't matter.
