What are some good Sludge Metal groups I should listen to? I've pretty much only listened to Acid Bath and I would like to find things similar
the melvins
Are there any metal bands that have story telling lyrics sort of like La Dispute?
Are there any metal bands that have story telling lyrics sort of like La Dispute?
If you want story telling lyrics, try The Protomen's Self-titled and "Act 2" Dream Theater's "Metropolis 2: Scenes From A Memory" Rush's "2112". If thats not what you mean, could you give us an example?
Are there any metal bands that have story telling lyrics sort of like La Dispute?
Not exactly metal, but more melodic hardcore, but give Fucked Up - David Comes To Life a try.
Are there any metal bands that have story telling lyrics sort of like La Dispute?
Queensrÿche's "Operation: Mindcrime"

I'm a pleb when it comes to classical but shoskovich and others may help.
Are there any metal bands that have story telling lyrics sort of like La Dispute?
La Dispute definitely isn't metal but check out Defeater (start with Travels) and Modern Life is War's Witness. [editline]27th December 2011[/editline] Or were you asking for metal bands with lyrics like La Dispute? Well either way you should enjoy the two above. [editline]27th December 2011[/editline] Also, http://somemistakes.bandcamp.com/album/glamorous-thoughts free EP, good story, hardcore with some post-metal (among other) elements.

anything like Raw Power by the Stooges would be great. yes I know MC5. and anything like early Velvet Underground.

That's some funky stuff, bro. However I'm more after the avant fusion stuff Somethin' explosive for moi. :)
I need some music in the style of Aphex Twins first album, Selected Ambient Works. While I haven't listened to much of the other Aphex Twin stuff I didn't find Selected Ambient Works Volume II to be near as interesting as the first one, with the exception of Rhubarb. I did find almost every song on the first album to be great though. I have very little experience with electronic music in general, I've been listening to some ambient stuff, that's all. I've been listening to Squarepusher and Autechre a bit since some people recommended them but I didn't find them particularly good.
I am looking for good break-beat/IDM. I really enjoyed Venetian Snares' Rossz Csillag Alatt Született album.
What's another good album by Electric Six? I went out on a limb and gave them a chance with Fire and fell in love.

As much thrash as I listen too I hardly ever listen to any death metal. Could someone recommend me a few old school death metal bands to get started with? Edit: Or maybe crossover thrash?
morbid saint and Entombed crossover thrash has nothing to do with death metal
Art vs Science most definately is worthwhile listening to. Its a crazy mix of rock, techno and good ol' Aussie electronica. Try Flippers or A.I.M but save Magic Fountain for last because it probably the most exhiliarating song I've ever heard. (I had access to the school PA system and played it full volume... life complete)
not as much "raw power" as I'm looking for, but Rocket from the Tombs and Richard Hell are great <3
how can someone not like '75 Death though?
