Starter album for Cocteau Twins?
Treasure or Victorialand
I've heard Tom Waits is good, but I'm not a big fan of folk. Where should I start?
Tom Waits isn't folk so that shouldn't be an issue [editline]7th January 2012[/editline] Also Small Change for jazz/blues or Bone Machine for experimental rock
I've become enamored by Karen O's vocal work on Trent Reznor's and Atticus Ross' cover of Immigrant Song, and was wondering if that is the style she uses in the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and if so, what would be a good starter album for them.
I've heard Tom Waits is good, but I'm not a big fan of folk. Where should I start?
If you want something tame try his pre-Swordfishtrombones albums. I'd recommend Closing Time, mainly for this one great song

If you want something crazier and more original try something Swordfishtrombones and forward. A few of my favorite albums: Rain Dogs

Blood Money

Mule Variations

I'm stilling going through his entire discography and relistening to some stuff by him I've already heard. I heard Bone Machine is great so I'd recommend tying that out as well.

[editline]8th January 2012[/editline] I find it hard to pick a favourite, simply because all his albums are so different.
I really want to get into Blues and Jazz. My only experience with jazz is a Bass/Drum/Guitar trio that plays every now and again at a nearby community center. But for blues I've listened to some B.B King, some Roy Brown, some Ella Fitzgerald, some ink spots (got one of their albums) and some Louis Armstrong. And suggestions?
I'm loving Miles Davis atm, try him

That's some good blues to start with. [editline]9th January 2012[/editline] For jazz, check out Bing Crosby, Fats Waller and Dinah Washington.

Nah, Bing Crosby listened to alot of blues, he was a big fan of Robert Johnson for example, but he didn't do alot of blues himself and what he did was still very jazzy.

We've got it priced at £45
I'm looking for a composer, I think he/she did mostly choral motets and my friend told me his/her name but I don't know how to spell it. He pronounced it 'Crochet' as is cro-shay but I can't find anyone under that name really.
Any music as compelling and versatile as Mezzanine by Massive Attack ?
Any music as compelling and versatile as Mezzanine by Massive Attack ?
Well that's vague. You want the same kind of style? Portishead and Tricky are trip hop greats.
Anyone who is similar to mastodon? Sludge prog metal? Ive tried Opeth didnt really make my balls tickle
@AK'z Looking for something in the veins of Angel by Massive Attack and A Smaller God by Darling Violetta. Both inspire a feel of easy going rhythm resonating with crescendos. Portishead is already in my list. Will checkout Tricky. Thanks.

I've checked out twinemen and bourbon princess. they're pretty good in their own right but I can't help but feel that something is missing (mark sandman)
well i hate to break it to you but a.k.a.c.o.d is as close to a replica of morphine you'll get without mark
