Is that DSOTM cover album that the Lips and a few others did any good?
It's a lot different. Interesting but not their best.
Is that DSOTM cover album that the Lips and a few others did any good?
It's cool, but I think it you're a really huge fan of the album you might feel that they really fucked up a lotta the songs. It's very, very different.
Hey guys, sorry for not knowing the terms here but.. I like this specific guitar sound. You can hear it in the Doors (beginning of this song), Smash Mouth (beginning of this song), and stuff like that. Do you know what kind of guitar this is? What other songs/artists play like this?

I think he means that kinda muted guitar sound
I think he means that kinda muted guitar sound
Yeah, kinda muted guitar, not quite surf guitar. Know any bands or songs that use that style?
I remember seeing a doc about it, I don't think anyone made that kind of sound before. :v:
It's definitely a fuzzbox with a low end cut on those guitars, as for specifics you've lost me, though I think Robby Krieger used a Fender amp on the recording of the first few albums
Can anyone recommend me old game songs like these, that boost you up.

What are some good live albums? I feel like I've unfairly judged all of them as pointless lower quality versions of normal albums
What are some good live albums? I feel like I've unfairly judged all of them as pointless lower quality versions of normal albums
Any preference as to what band/style of music?
What are some good live albums? I feel like I've unfairly judged all of them as pointless lower quality versions of normal albums
James Brown's Live at the Apollo for sure.
Leonard Cohen's Live in London is pretty great.
See I'm struggling to name ones that are better than the studio.
[editline]16th January 2012[/editline]
oh and Miles Davis' live records FOR SURE: Four and More, Live-Evil, Agharta.
Kind of a strange request, but can someone recommend me some "happy" metal?

Something like that.

Thin Lizzy's Live and Dangerous, Judas Priest's Unleashed In The East, George Harrison's Concert for Bangladesh and Live In Japan, Johnny Cash's Live At Folsom Prison, The Rolling Stones' Get Yer Ya Ya's Out!, The Allman Brothers Band's At Fillmore East, B.B. King's Live at the Regal, Pink Floyd's A Delicate Sound of Thunder and P.U.L.S.E....There are ton.
My personal favorites are At Fillmore East (probably my favorite Live Album), Live and Dangerous and Live At Folsom Prison.
edit: Also, Johnny Winter Live And + every Johnny Winter live album, bootleg or not. And I almost forgot Gov't Mule's Mulennium and Off The Deep End series.
how could i forget Concert for Bangladesh..
B.B. King's Live at the Regal
Very yes.
Also Johnny Cash of course.
[editline]16th January 2012[/editline]
not a massive fan of Pink Floyds Live stuff. Gdansk is very good, but the other stuff is pretty menial. Entertaining to watch, but not so much a listen.

Pink Floyd Live at the Fillmore is great, I much prefer the searing guitar playing Atom Heart Mother rather than the cheesy brass arrangement on the album

God, I love BB King.
Any groups like either Godspeed You! Black Emperor or Caribou? Been in a mood for either of those styles of music, even though they are pretty different from each other.
