Thought I'd ask this here for some input.
So I'm trying to find a good song to use in this trailer. It's for a film series project of mine. It follows a police officer that ends up being the first survivor in a series of copkillings, costing him his hands. Teaming up with his old police partner, the two go under the radar and descend into the world of private investigation to find the copkiller behind it all. Throughout the investigation, they come across a murderous sleepwalking druglord, a criminally obsessed ex-partner, crooked cops, corrupt politicians and much more.
I guess I should tell you what I'm looking for in terms of musical style. The series itself is very neo-noir. The style I'm shooting for with the trailer is very similar to the first trailer for the english version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, in which a lot is presented very rapidly to the rhythm of "Immigrant Song", giving a lot to look forward to without revealing much. So... music that is really... fast, invigorating and powerful, with that strong "oomph" evident in things like the aforementioned trailer and other songs like "Seven Nation Army" and, as a slower example, "How's it gonna End."
So... any ideas, guys?
Could you give an example of a track similar to the vibe you're looking for?

I have no clue about anything rap/hip hop related past Cypress Hill/Beastie Boys, so would someone recommend me something similar to Death Grips?

Gonjasufi + Dalek are pretty experimental in terms of hip hop, but in terms of the rapping and explosiveness, try Public Enemy.

Anybody got any indie (rock, pop, folk, whatever, doesn't matter) bands with huge diverse instrumentation? Like strings, horns, bells, pianos, organs, etc.
Stuff like this:

Xiu Xiu, there are lots of instruments and weird sounds being used, a warning though: it is really weird both in sound and in lyrics sometimes, and it tends to get quite noisy.

Some neutral milk hotel stuff has got pretty good instrumentation.
Also maybe listen to pet sounds by the beach boys, its not exactly indie but its pretty much what inspired most use of orchestras and diverse instrumentation in popular/rock music.

Lyrically I'm not sure if I can give you anything but in terms of how the guitars sounds I'd probably recommend Queens of the Stone Age (although you've probably heard of them)
Hope it help.
I'm looking for some lesser-known 80s electro-funk. Stuff in a similar vein to Zapp & Roger, Midnight Star, D-Train, etc.
Anyone know any?
