How do you find these bands?
many ways... but mostly last.fm, i suppose.
I'm looking for bands similar to Dream Theater and Porcupine Tree. Any suggestions? Also, if anyone's into japanese music, any bands similar to JAM Project and Sound Horizon? Thanks.

I think my music taste is quite hard to explain. Anyways i'm generally into Punk-rock/rock but im always open to "Comedy" bands like The Lonely Island and Weird Al Yankovich. I'm a huge Rockband fan (cause really, who doesn't want to play their favorite songs on the drums?), and i loved most of the songs in Rockband 1 and 2 (not 3 though). Recently i started listening to Panic at the disco, even though their nothing like what i usually listens to. Just to mention a few of the bands i hear on a daily basis: Tenacious D, Sum41, System of a down, Disturbed, Weezer, We Are Scientists, Fall out Boy, 30 seconds to mars, Cage The Elephant, Foo fighters and Billy Talent! If ANYONE could recommend a band, it would be awesome! ;)

can someone suggest me some Melodic Death metal? I've only really listened to Amon Amarth and I want to listen to some more bands in that vein.
What are some good bands/artists in these styles: "surf music" (not really what it's called but I don't know how else to call it) such as Jack Johnson, Donavon Frankenreiter or Mishka? Techno such as Deadmau5 and Daft Punk? and 90's rock bands, such as Jane's Addiction, Rage Against the Machine and Faith no More?
