Looking for Ska Punk and Noise Rock.
Ska Punk:
Operation Ivy
Common Riders
Noise Rock:
A Place To Bury Strangers
Sonic Youth
Looking for Ska Punk and Noise Rock.
Ska Punk: Streetlight Manifesto and Rx Bandits (Rx Bandits are a little different but I'd definitely recommend them to anyone who likes ska/ska-punk.)
Noise Rock: Unwound and Armchairpolitician
I need swing music. Suggest away, Facepunch.

I know some noise rock stuff you might dig I guess.
mclusky
big black
jesus lizard
lightning bolt
spore
unsane (probably not really your thing)
pussy galore
brainbombs

I've wanted to hear their new album for ages. Must do this immediately.
I'm looking for some soul groups like The Five Stairsteps, anyone know some good ones?
I've wanted to hear their new album for ages. Must do this immediately.
its one of my favourite 2012 releases, has a really nice bluesy feel to it, even some jewish harp on a track that sounds like guitar feedback at first.
Noise Rock.
Drunkdriver
Distorted Pony
Scratch Acid
Butthole Surfers
Swans
Unwound
Flipper
Rapeman
Cows
Killdozer
A lot of people also like Pissed Jeans and Unsane, but I find them to be pretty bland and unremarkable.
You might also dig The Birthday Party, the first few Jesus & Mary Chain releases, the first few Failure releases, the EPs 1988-1991 compilation by My Bloody Valentine and Husker Du.
They're not really noise rock, but they share some of the genre's characteristics and generally fit the "loud, abrasive post-punk" mold.

You missed sonic youth
You missed sonic youth
Nope, I tried not to include the bands that other people already recommended.
I see now that I mentioned Unwound and Unsane but meh.
[editline]21st October 2012[/editline]
Sonic Youth rules.
melt-banana makes some pretty fun noise rock too but i guess you have to be able to actually dig the vocals
Can someone rec me any albums that are like the Bastion OST, thanks.
Who are some good avant-garde composers who like to make their own instruments or use non instruments?
Who are some good avant-garde composers who like to make their own instruments or use non instruments?
yeah

not sure about "non" instruments, there are tons of artists who use sounds from objects.
There's even an album that uses CD glitches in its composition.
Anyone have any relaxing stuff? Something like Pink Floyd's Meddle.

Give David Gilmour's On An Island a shot
I rediscovered my long lost love of indie rock again with this song:

Now I have an insatiable desire to find more indie rock songs to add to my collection. Suggestions?

Not what I'm looking for, but pretty nice regardless.
I just don't know what these should be called genre-wise:

It's more breakcore, but it's still pretty glitchy.

Teto actually recommended this album to me at some point, but I got into Mouse On The Keys' An Anxious Object too much and completely forgot about it.
Thanks for reminding, I'll give it a listen.

First song that jumped to mind when I listened to that was "Fitzpleasure" by Alt-J.

Nice, thanks!
Hi guys, I have a couple of things I'm looking for.
First is African music in the style of Baba Yetu or Circle of Life. I don't really know what or who to look for since obviously these two tracks aren't by African artists.
Second is french stuff like La Seine. Again I have no idea what this genre translates into but more songs or artists like this would be absolutely fabulous~
Hip-hop along the lines of Roots Manuva? :v:

Don't know if you will like this but i'll give it a go.
