Some amazing stuff has been made in DT at my school. Two remote control planes with 1 metre wing spans, scooters and a cool system where you attach a thing to a dog's collar and another thing beeps if the dog gets a certain distance away from you.
That is pretty cool, we were restricted to storage solutions, and my school had a tight budget for DT, so we couldn't do much.

Latin GCSE is a bastard. You have to learn the language, then learn pages and pages of literature - at least as much as English - and have to analyse it all, but you only get 1 GCSE.
I got a Humanities text in a week today Humanities is one of my worst subjects :crying: [editline]09:59PM[/editline]
Do the English have to do a language, if not, you luck gits.
Nope :buddy: [editline]10:00PM[/editline]
why be scared of a little test and make a big deal [editline]08:50PM[/editline] :iiam:
Just a little test that will allow you to get a better job :ms:

You're probably gonna need it.
It's getting more and more real.
My French oral went far better than I expected it to. I fucked up two out of four unpredictable questions which wasn't so good but I managed to answer every other question with little problems, I've hopefully got at least a B. I just realised that I have a 2 hour long paper on Electronic very soon though and I know absolutely fuck all about it, If I want a good grade in it then I'm going to have to do more all day revision sessions. I don't really need to revise for anything else, it's just that I had a shit class for most of the year and thus we didn't get through most of the basics very well, which fucked up my understanding of the whole subject.

I'm taking Photography, Double English, History and Geography. sweeeeeeet. along with the mandatory subjects ofc
Latin GCSE is a bastard. Latin was the subject I had to revise the most at GCSE. Still got an A* though. :>
Oh derp, I have a chemistry written EMPA and a Physics practical EMPA tommorrow. Good thing those are easy. Also anyone doing GCSEs and thinking the tests are hard, be prepared for the biggest horror you've ever witnessed with A-levels. (unless of course you revise, then you should be fine)
Biology AS retake (got a D for it last November), paper 2 for me this Friday :ohdear: Though i'm not as concerned about the paper 2 as I am about the practical, practising on the past papers in class it seems i'm consistently quite weak in the practical :/
I'm currently doing my AS Fine art and Graphics exams at the momment, Applied ICT exam on tuesday and maths (stats) week after that D:
For my GCSE technology class, I literally left the coursework until the day before the absolute final deadline. I had to do a ton of work for it so I asked my parents to help me and we stayed up doing it til like 5AM... I got an A. LOL
Exam leave starts today! Woooo! Shame that I'm going into school for some talks on aspects of the enlgish exams.

I turned up to about a quarter of the lessons, know none of the language, and rote learned all the texts the night before and still got an A. [editline]08:31AM[/editline] I've got a Chem 1 AS on next Friday. I'm not looking forward to Maths 2, Chem 2 and any of the biologies.

There's like pages and pages and pages of the stuff, which they could ask you any of. You actually have to know what it means too, which is impossible without actually revising it, since it uses all kinds of poetic forms and misses out words and shit. It was a pain in the arse. I don't know what exam board you're with, but I barely revise for my subjects and Latin GCSE was the most rote learning I've had to do for one of my subjects.
GCSE is a fucking joke. iGCSE is where it's at. [editline]06:05PM[/editline] for those of you who don't know, here's an example: An A* in GCSE is an B in iGCSE. A fucking B.

Also flow charts are piss-easy and it's insulting that they're classed a form of programming [editline]07:45PM[/editline] Oh and I did my German oral today and the teacher said she'd be "surprised if I got lower than an A" so I was like :smug: Although I did apparently say "my school uniform is useful" which was a bit silly
Just heads up if you're in the UK school system wanting to move to somewhere like say the US system, GCSE's count for fuck all out here, but A levels you can get somewhere with them. I found this out the hard way.
Had my first 6 hours of art. Practically finished my piece. Just got to do some mounting tomorrow. I'm toying with doing a second piece just because I can. However, I would only attempt one if I manage to get my mounting done in the first hour tomorrow, which may not happen as it isn't conventional mounting and may go horribly wrong.
Taking English Lang/Lit, Maths, Core+Additional Science, R.S (short course, it's mandatory), French, I.T, History and Geography. I'm in Year 10 at the moment but the government reformed the GCSEs so I'm taking an exam in History (25%) and Geography (37.5%) in June.

I did an Astronomy GCSE at after school sessions last year and got a B (it was 1hr 30 mins every thursday, and I was 1 mark off an A, so to say we usually have 5 hours a fortnight for 2 years for our options I think that's not half bad!) At the moment I am doing Art (which I'm finished with as of tomorrow, exam was in march), Product Design, Information Systems and French. I had my french speaking exam tuesday and was a nervous wreck, it was awful, but I got my presentation spot on and my roleplay was "excellent" so hopefully I have done quite well. I can bring the marks back with the reading/listening anyway. Personally I'm shitting it about english because we've been messed about basically for the last 2 years with different teachers etc. Oh and I got 100% in the RS exam last year so I was "in the top 1% of the country" /showing off Exams start next Friday with Biology unit 2 and 3... good luck everyone who is doing those exams! It's my birthday that day too. (also taking additional maths (FSMQ - it's like between Module 10 GCSE and A-Level) on a tuesday, it's difficult as fuck, but we do only have an hour every tuesday and everyone messes around... going to have to do a lot of revision. But it's not one of my options, it's just an extra, so I'll be ok)
Never known anything about British education; are GCSEs like our SAT or ACT, or are they tough like AP exams?
Never known anything about British education; are GCSEs like our SAT or ACT, or are they tough like AP exams?
They're generally fairly tame, but it differs from subject to subject. Personally, I think the science subjects at GCSE have been dumbed down too much. I don't know, but I think A-levels are the rough equivalent of AP exams. I have no idea to be honest.
GSCEs. Surprisingly I've found it to be very little work, I guess I got lucky with the subjects I took (History, Economics, French and Drama). Doing decently well in all of them.
I got my first GCSE on tuesday, R.E urgh I am scared :S
I got my first GCSE on tuesday, R.E urgh I am scared :S
It's really not hard - just remember PEE paragraph per mark, make sure you learn your religious quotes and as long as it relates to the question stick it in. [editline]09:34PM[/editline]
I'm in year ten and have to do Chemistry 2 Biology 1 and Physics 1 in 3 weeks. I'm taking English, English Literature, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History, Geography, Graphics (D.T), German and a Half Citizenship GCSE (Compulsory). Not looking forward to the revision.
Do you mean Chem 1b, Physics 1a and Bio 1a? Those multiple choice tests? They were easy. Just make sure you revise. They're really not as bad as you think they are. Just make sure you do past papers etc. Awesome revision method as taught by our oxford PhD Chem Teacher: Go through your revision guide/notes and make questions from your notes. E.g. your notes say: "Covalent bonding is a bond where electrons are shared in order to give the atoms full outer shells" you put "What is covalent bonding?" Then answer your questions. I find that this helps a fuckton. Also, past paper questions are amazing to find out what the mark scheme is looking for, just keep doing them, mark them yourself and it will just embed itself - you get used to it.
