GCSE is a fucking joke. iGCSE is where it's at. [editline]06:05PM[/editline] for those of you who don't know, here's an example: An A* in GCSE is an B in iGCSE. A fucking B.
Care to explain what iGCSE is? Sounds all hip and down with the kids etc. Also, Past papers for AQA are here: http://web.aqa.org.uk/admin/qp-ms_library.php A very useful resource with mark schemes. Also I recommend that you probably don't browse facepunch with good intentions you'll most probably end up getting distracted and then rage at yourself from lack of anything productive.
International General Certificate of Secondary Education.
Got one of my English language exams tomorrow. Shitting myself (quite literally. Being nervous makes me want to take a shit,) even though I should be confident. I know exactly what I need to do.
Care to explain what iGCSE is? Sounds all hip and down with the kids etc.
It's an internationally recognized version of the GCSE. It's 100% exam with no coursework/controlled assessment *I think*.
Also, past paper questions are amazing to find out what the mark scheme is looking for, just keep doing them, mark them yourself and it will just embed itself - you get used to it.
Our biology teacher is very much into that method, he just drowns us in past papers :v: And from how well I personally feel I did in the Biology AS paper 2 just now, i'm cautiously optimistic it worked pretty well.
I'm doing Biology, Maths and Physics. I kinda messed everything up so having to do two years of exams in ONE GO! I've been revising for 6 months though so I guess that helps.
Just took my English langauge exam. I'm confident but I was confident last time and only got an A.
why arent you studying dear god
Got my gcses starting on the 21st. I'm doing triple science, maths, English and lit, history, geography, Latin, rs, and it. Next year, for a-levels, I'm doing further maths, and therefore maths, so I have the c1 module on Thursday I think, I'm also doing physics, chemistry, and economics pre-u. Only a couple of schools in the country do pre-u :smug:
Care to explain what iGCSE is? Sounds all hip and down with the kids etc.
iGCSE is the international equivalent to the GCSE. For example: a school teaching in Australia using the English curriculum would have iGCSE's, instead of GCSE's. The reason for this is that international students are not "accustomed" to English culture, vocabulary and basically don't think like English kids, so they have to get different questions which are more suited for the international population. They're supposed to be the same difficulty, but sadly it is not so. And anyways, it's a stupid idea. If the iGCSE's are easier to understand for kids, why not just give English kids and international kids the iGCSE's? What's to lose?
In the language paper we had today, we were told, at great length, about a Signore Alessandro who had a curry and taxi fetish. It felt weird writing: "The curry is personified."
So I think I'm gonna get like 5 D's. I guess I'll just retake english/maths after two-three years.

I only have two exams this year, Graphic communication and History, both int-2 level (seeing that im scottish) in the 26th and 27th... Could have had english and chemisty if i didnt get my arse kicked in them... >_>
YeS A2 EXAMS!
Do you mean Chem 1b, Physics 1a and Bio 1a? Those multiple choice tests? They were easy. Just make sure you revise. They're really not as bad as you think they are. Just make sure you do past papers etc. Awesome revision method as taught by our oxford PhD Chem Teacher: Go through your revision guide/notes and make questions from your notes.
We are doing C2, B1, and P1 (A and b). We did mock multiple choice papers in Physics, but the mocks we did in the other 2 subjects are the normal written ones, so I'm assuming that's how the real tests will be. I'm not too worried as I am revising well, and surprised myself with an A* in the chemistry mock (a past paper) and had done virtually no revision by then. I can remember the content quite well, just the Chemistry equations are a bit tricky to apply to some of the questions. Thanks for the tip, I think I will do that, or just go through the Exam style and Summary questions in the text book, and do extra past papers off AQA. I also got a PhD teacher for both Chemistry and Biology. Both are women, and whenever I say "Dr.Sangster/John______" people always reply "oh who's he".

School's depressing
English GCSE is up first (next week), my last exam is ICT on the 28th of June. Study leave starts in 3 weeks. (What's the point if they start that late? All our subjects are finished now anyway)
Doing Computing, Chemistry, Physics, Maths and Further Maths Don't get me started on the wastes of time that are General Studies and CoPE.
You are me next year, hello.
Next year, for a-level, I'm probably doing chemistry, biology, computing and politics.
iGCSE physics are a joke. All you have to do is memorize a few formulas and you're set. Why don't they put on some real physics?
Next year i'm doing highers. (scottish A-Levels). I will be taking Maths, Physics, Chemistry, English and Tech Studies (electronics). Should be a interesting year, a lot of work though.
iGCSE physics are a joke. All you have to do is memorize a few formulas and you're set. Why don't they put on some real physics?
Because real physics is complicated beyond your understanding.
Because real physics is complicated beyond your understanding.
I'm pretty sure it wouldn't hurt to introduce some over-simplified theory. I still reckon it's better knowing what the formulas are about instead of knowing all the formulas.
I'm pretty sure it wouldn't hurt to introduce some over-simplified theory. That could be a bad thing, but I think I known more physics as a result.
Just to let you guys know, I found a a really useful website: getrevising.co.uk
Took my RS exam yesterday, easier than I thought.
AS ICT is fucking easy
