OCR's giving us GCSE Literature today. Wish me luck!
I spent an hour and a quarter on Of Mice And Men, question 6. I managed to work in in some way every character - even the bus driver (I didn't explicitly mention Susy and the gang, but I brielfly talked about Whit's prostitute obsession). I talked a fair bit about Carlson being an ex-soldier, and compared him to Rambo. On poetry I did question 25, and chose My Last Duchess, Before You Were Mine, On my first Sonne and Mother Any Distance. I called the Duke of Ferrara's view of marriage 'Ferengian'. I didn't have time to do a conclusion for it though. Christ I hate English Lit.
View From the Bridge, Of Mice and Men and poems here today, chemistry tommorow which I'm bricking it about.
I'm taking it too. Remember to learn all the tests for ions etc. They always come up and they are worth a tonne of marks.
AS Biology Unit 1 (resit) today was okay. Fucking dreading European History tomorrow though.
I actually have some flash cards for those tests I'm like the king of flash cards Give me a second and I'll post them http://filesmelt.com/dl/C3_ChemTests.docx http://filesmelt.com/dl/C3_ChemSubstances.docx Same as last time, print it then put it back in so the C3 card is facing away from you and is at the bottom. Oh and the one that says something about acids and alkalis on one side but gives the formula for acids + metals on the other side should say metals on both sides, sorry about that. Oh and this stuff is worth like 15 out of 45 marks on your C3 paper (which is about half the marks you need for an A*) so fucking learn it.
fuckfuckfuckfuck i'm fucking screwed for history tommorow.
Not looking forward to chemistry tomorrow... My school gave their worst teacher to my group, the only one doing the C3 topic :sigh:
I just passed everything whoo [editline]09:24PM[/editline] I'm not taking any GCSEs but yknow just spreading the word
and what are you doing now i hate people who have a pathetic attitude to learning chav.
I thought I should answer this. I was home educated due to no decent schools for miles. I wasn't able to take GCSEs but then found that they aren't actually necessary. I did a foundation IT course at college that was equivalent to a few GCSEs (can't remember exactly what) I then went onto a different course that was broader IT and programming, equivalent to 3 A-Levels. I got a D-D-M which I think is equivalent to 2 As and a B. I then went to university and studied real-time systems and embedded programming, which I graduated from in September. I'm now a software engineer, working on digital TV middleware. Which just goes to show it pays to specialise.
Chemistry was a piece of piss. "Oxygen and Hydrogen react to make water. Write the symbol equation for this." I'd love to see what Foundation was like.
Does anyone else have to do AS General Studies today?
I talked a fair bit about Carlson being an ex-soldier
i dont remember that from the book
Just got back from my unit 2 and 3 chemistry exams. Unit 2 was easy, but there were a few odd questions in unit 3. Also, does anyone know why sodium chloride (common salt) is not dangerous when it bonded poisonous chlorine ions?
i dont remember that from the book
It's not mentioned explicitly, but he has a German gun and knows the best way to shoot someone. The way I see it, he fought in WW1, shot a German officer in cold blood and took his gun as a trophy. That's why he has the gun, and why he's so cold. By the mid-30s he'll have been knocking on a bit, so he wanted Candy's dog out the way as it was a reminder of his ageing. Maths AS exam tomorrow. No too worried about this one because I've gotten over 90% in all of the past papers we were given with no revision. It's the maths exams I have after half term I'm worried about :(
Does anyone else have to do AS General Studies today?
Yeah I'll never get those 90 minutes back :C Had a rant about religion, rubbish and France in that order.
My school decided to have a "Graduation Evening" during our GCSEs. :v:
I think I said that, but the way the question was worded means I don't think I'm gonna get the marks.
I put something about it being a gas and delocalising or something. Can't really remember, I've had a 2 hour exam of colouring in since then (Product Design AQA, it was piss easy, hardly any of the stuff we learnt was asked for and I basically spent the entire exam drawing designs for packaging.)
Had chemistry toaday and English Literature yesterday. Latter was easy, former was easy too, but with the annoying tendency english papers have to drag on and on and ooooonnnn. Nowhere near as bad as the language though, I fucking hate comprehension, it's not amazingly hard but it is boorrrriiinggg. I'm resitting Language after half term though because I got a B last year when I coulda got an A or higher.
Yeah I'll never get those 90 minutes back :C Had a rant about religion, rubbish and France in that order.
Was your paper on Science and Society?
Fuckin nailed the sociology resit today. [editline]10:42AM[/editline] General studies yesterday was so funny. It said "discuss the impact and importance of water on human life and activity"... everyone else I know wrote about drinking and having showers n shit but I decided to write about mastery of the seas and 18th century colonial expansion.
In college, just got out of my Statistics exam. I think it went pretty well, only a few bits that I wasn't sure on. That was my last exam of the year. It's a nice feeling

my A2s dont started till 16th June :smug:
Just had the same exam myself, felt fine about all of it except some stuff in the last question. Have a Physics exam to go to at 1:30 though.
AS Physics resit? I've got the same one, I'm more screwed then the first time.
AS Physics resit? I've got the same one, I'm more screwed then the first time.
That's the one, I feel slightly better than the last time. Good luck anyway.
That's the one, I feel slightly better than the last time. Good luck anyway.
You too.
Left this year i've got cpt 3 computing exam, c2,c3,c4 maths exams, psa4,psa5 physics exams and 2 general studies exams. (Our school makes us do the as maths exams at the end of year 12 so we score better). The hopefully Sheffield to do compsci w software engineering if I get ABB which seems likely.
Phew I've knocked a few out the way but I've got a two week break befoe my next ones. When does everybody's finish?
Have my weakest subject tomorrow, Physics.
