Calvin and Hobbes was the only reason I have ever read a news paper in my life.

Hell yeah, just bought it.
I have all of them.
These were the best comics I ever read.
My favorite is the one where he plays smooth jazz insanely fast and they dance to it, but it's at 2am or something
Did anybody else ever read these at night in the bed as a kid with like a flashlight or something?
I often stayed up past my bedtime to read these.
I think I read one of the books in its entirety in one sitting in a couple of hours. Making a 3rd grader sit down and read something like this for that long is a pretty good achievement in my book. I didn't get every joke, since my vocabulary and understanding of the world wasn't nearly as complete, but it was mostly written in a easy to read, and witty manner.
I remember showing these to my friends around my age, but none of them really "got" what was so good about them. I still remember one of them asking, "Why would you even read these? These are pretty dumb. Reading is for school. Lets go outside." I guess I was just way ahead of my time. :sigh:
I have a couple of the collections. I don't know where they are.

I was really bored so I took this comic I scanned.

And Photoshop'd all the images as a animated gif.

Needs a little refining due to the border lines.
I fucking loved reading this, thee boondocks, and get fuzzy.
I love C&H. Been reading it my whole life. And my local newspaper has a C&H strip every day, so I'm not stopping.
I've been reading these again, thought "why not"

and created this background. I'll give the full image an upload if anyone wants it.
This comic's a massive part of my childhood.
