To you maybe, that is all you might want. I want to discover new personalities, grasp the mindset of the musician and gain more within myself through their expression.
The way I listen to music and watch movies is pretty similar. Also how I treat life.
You're assuming I'm making music specifically directed at individuals - which is wrong, I never even pointed that out. The point of music is to spark feelings within the listener. Obviously if you don't have listeners creating the entire piece is a waste of time.
Also, I am sorry you don't know how to argue.
Really? Because you don't have an argument.
Let me let you in on a little secret:
There is absolutely no point of music. It's just sound. A minute of white noise is exactly as good as beethovens whole library, since there is no such thing as an objective view on music.

Akz wants to find himself, you want to find your listeners. Both are equally respectable. So you should not disrespect eachother.
I've never really thought of drums as that much of an expressive device, it really depends what you're trying to do with it.
Yeah I guess. =)
Self indulgence is best.
And we're all listening to each others music here.
you need to learn when to shut the fuck up
you need to learn when to shut the fuck up
Just like when you told me Panda wasn't Clovis? :)
no
not no, yes
you ruin threads with your shitty comments that contribute nothing and argue over some incredibly dumb shit. even if you are right who gives a shit? Make your point then leave it at that, we don't need you cluttering the thread with that kind of bullshit
[editline]7th December 2011[/editline]
shit shit shit
go with the flow.
there are far too many egos in these threads for any kind of collaboration to ever work.

I write music for fun, I don't have many listens, I just wanna have fun and get it out there.
BREAKING NEWS-
14 pages into project
nothing accomplished.
and all was well.

uhm you're not gonna have listeners with most of the shit you do
i've got like 300 cassettes of stuff no-one's ever gonna listen to but it's not a waste of time because it's uh, fun?
hey maybe i should enter one of those cassettes in that collab thingy *thoughts*

Can I have one. :>
can we just set it in stone that we are using the historical events idea posted earlier? It's in the OP, but the OP doesn't really explain how the idea works (which is that all the events are not connected and everyone is just doing whatever they want)
Nothing is set in stone, the OP has been edited 3 times.

Yes, I'm clueless too.
World War 2 album?
Everyone picks an historical event.
Everyone makes a song about the event.
Name the album "History."
Done.
What's simpler than that?
did you already forget about this lol
ah yes.
I do think "some" kind of progression should happen though. Depends what we do, mostly the generic war thing or more light-hearted things.
Well we could have the track list be in chronological order of when the events actually happened
Sure, go right ahead.
Sorry been on holidays
Do you have a copy with the individual tracks lined up or should I just go off your soundcloud
Also holy shit AK'z why are you talking about your philosophy towards music and life, everyone already knows your true philosophy is "Get in lots of arguments and use the smug emoticon a lot"

Just do the fucking historical thing and get it over with, most of you are set with it so start submitting shit and getting it closer to finished
I want the next thread to come around, the time for discussion in this one has clearly run its course
I'm still trying to figure out what would make an interesting event for a song. People just post general ideas of what events would be interesting to make songs about.
Alright things have more or less been sorted out with me so I'm back!
I'm going to try to make some digital epilepsy about the occupy movement. It should be the last track the last track on the album.
The drums sound great, but I can't hear the piano/guitar melody at that part.

You mean you've given up and are not bothered to come up with ideas.

Unexpected end of archive, can't download
You mean you've given up and are not bothered to come up with ideas.
I mean no one responded to the direction I wanted to go in, and nearly everyone wants to do something I'm not interested in. There's no need to throw more ideas into the mix now, you were happy with the historical theme so just do it
I think you guys are focusing too much on the concept and not enough on the album. You guys are making music not writing a book. It might be just my opinion but I'd rather listen to an album with killer tunes than an overly thought out concept with the music as an after thought.
well you need a concept before you even start working on the songs if you intend to do a concept album. this isn't normally the case, as with solo artists or bands these things can form naturally, but when working with so many people, a bit more planning is involved
