I just watched the two original IA Quinspiracy videos for entertainment and a refresher, damn there was a lot of shit happening two years ago.

She does kind of have some points about comedy in video games. Some of my favorite movies are like "Falling Down" or "A Serious Man" because of their understated comedy, which is a quality that I have yet to see replicated in video games--those are two movies which both play upon failure, depression and losing control of your life. Even "The Sopranos" which is basically a modern-day mafia drama is hilarious. The comedy is so well done, that when Tony Soprano does anything you can't help but laugh, even if its violent or ridiculous. Perhaps the only example of similar comedy would be Deus Ex or Fallout 1/2 and the entire Grand Theft Auto franchise where the dialogue and events can be quite funny without having to bend over backwards and try. A lot of the comedy is just about the human experience, which is why it resonates quite well. Borderlands comedy fell flat because it was just rehashed shit (for instance memes). However, everything I saw in this video feels a [I]little[/I] forced. Funny horsehead meme shit from 9 years ago! How very fresh. So to me, based upon this video, I can see something equivalent in nature to Gearbox's attempts at comedy with inserting memes into Borderlands. In fact the last thing I'd ever want to hear a director or game designer talk about is what they're doing for "the comedy"--its like trying to explain a fucking joke. It'd be like if Bill Murray made an informational video explaining why Groundhog Day is funny. I guess I just can't see "the comedy"--I must be a white male or something.

What sucks is that they replaced History 2 with a vice channel, so there's pretty much no channels on TV that play quality and new documentaries. History is old rehashed ones, ancient aliens, docudramas, and reality tv now :( I hate vice for that, especially since the shows are garbage. One was about this guy from vice finding a remote tribe in the amazon to try the drugs they use.
